Following Jayco and Entegra instructions, I delivered my coach to Blue Compass RV. It has now been more than SIX MONTHS out of service. I had the same issues as identified in a current recall entitled: Model 907 Sprinter. Model Year 2019-2022 Update Instrument Cluster Software. In my case the instrument cluster remained non-functional upon vehicle start-up exactly like the recall with an added problem of the ignition push button would not shut off the vehicle. I was left with a vehicle I could not shut off without an operational instrument cluster. While my model year and model number match this recall, for some reason my VIN number was not included in the recall so the dealer will not upgrade the software and fix this problem. The scope of this recall must be corrected to include my VIN number.

CRITICAL SAFETY CONCERN: Vehicle shifts into NEUTRAL during normal start sequence, could roll over passengers. Component of concern: Electronic "Wiper" stalk shifter is easily shifted into NEUTRAL during normal start sequence. Problem encountered several times in our 2021 Mercedes Sprinter- the stalk shifter is located directly in front of the "START/STOP" ignition button. To start the vehicle, you must: 1) Press and hold the brake 2) Reach under the shifter and press the "START/STOP" button The problem is pressing the brake is also the "safety interlock" for shifting out of PARK. The breakout force on the shifter stalk is VERY LOW, causing it to be inadvertently shifted into NEUTRAL during a normal start sequence. This is a safety concern, because often we will start the vehicle, and then exit the drivers seat to load passengers (small children and/or wheelchair users). The vehicle does not give any indication (no physical movement of the shifter) of shifting out of park- other than white letter on mid-dash indicator going from "P" to "N". The vehicle could easily be shifted into NEUTRAL and run over passengers during the loading operations.

I am writing to formally raise a critical safety concern regarding the performance and behavior of the Crosswind Assist system in my 2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500, upfitted by Airstream as a B-Class RV. This vehicle, identified by VIN [XXX] , exhibited behavior that I believe constitutes a significant and potentially dangerous flaw in its integrated driver-assistance programming. During a westbound trip from Minnesota to Nevada—traversing high-wind corridors in South Dakota, Wyoming, and Utah—the Crosswind Assist system activated on multiple occasions while overtaking large trucks during gusty wind conditions. The system appeared to override driver input by abruptly applying the brakes and modulating throttle response. On one particular occasion, this intervention forced our vehicle laterally toward a semi-truck in the adjacent lane while simultaneously initiating a hard brake event. This caused not only a near side-impact collision but also a chain reaction behind us, as trailing vehicles panic-braked, narrowly avoiding a rear-end collision. This level of autonomous intervention, especially under highway-speed wind shear, presents what I consider a severe safety risk to occupants and other motorists. No reasonable amount of driver anticipation, route planning, or wind-speed awareness could have prevented the unintended and forceful application of braking and steering commands we experienced. Upon referring to the owner’s manual and engaging in discussions on several Airstream and Sprinter-owner forums, I discovered that other owners have experienced similar incidents. Some users referenced the ability to disable the system through authorized Mercedes-Benz diagnostic software. Based on this information, I scheduled a service appointment at Mercedes-Benz of Farmington, Utah on March 17, service invoice [XXX]. My vehicle is activating “crosswind assist” and applying the brakes automatically, unilaterally, and abruptly while traveling at speeds over 40 mph on the highway, even when conditions are NOT windy. It seems that the sensor is overactive in detecting wind. I have taken it to the Mercedes dealer and they have stated they found no problems with the ESP sensors and state that the vehicle is responding to perceived wind conditions/instability normally and as it should. However, this was NOT like this for the first two years I drove the vehicle. It is DANGEROUS and not normal and the unilateral application of the brakes while I’m going 60 or 70 miles an hour on the highway forces my vehicle out of the lane and into parallel traffic lanes! The unilateral braking is sometimes so severe that my vehicle fishtails and feels like it is going to roll over into an adjacent lane or off the highway. This is going to cause a major accident to me and fellow drivers. Since the problem started six months ago and has steadily worsened, I have been advised to upgrade the suspension and install an “swaybar” and also to change the tires to make the vehicle more stable. I have done both. Neither has helped at all. I don’t know what to do or where to take it. It seems like deactivating the crosswind assist would be helpful in determining if the sensors are too sensitive or defective and whether it drives safely without them. But there is no way to deactivate that system. I have owned my vehicle for three years and for the first 2 1/2 years it drove perfectly, without this issue ever happening. My vehicle has not been in any collision and has had no damage, so I do not know where this came from. It seems like an electrical or sensor issue that has arised and neither a sprinter specialist mechanic nor the Mercedes-Benz dealership with a sprinter technician have been able to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it. This is URGENT and I need help or there will be a catastrophe.

Purchased CPO certified Mercedes-Benz 2021 Sprinter Rv Van that was sold to me by Mercedes-Benz of S. Orlando Florida with illegal window and windshield tint and when I complained they stated it’s buyer’s responsibility to pay for removing once it’s sold. It’s a safety hazard as it was extremely difficult to see at night. Police pulled us over for it, but kindly told us to remove it for our safety. The same answer was stated for the significant rust on the roof as buyer had opportunity to view before purchase…..not typical to climb up the roof for seniors. Seems to be a pattern of sales practices that’s deceptive, passing the cost to buyers, rather than to have it corrected before CPO certification.

My van has periodic lack of acceleration or dead pedal. There are no warnings that this will occur. This shows itself when trying to advance from a stopped position. When I push the accelerator the van either does not move at all or barely crawls forward. This can last 15-45 seconds. There are no RPMs from the engine. Once the pedal starts to respond, the issue will resolve. The problem is you need to get to that point where the engine can make rated power. Once you put in in drive, and if you're able to idle away from the parking spot, you may find that when you need power to move up a hill or through an intersection, it just isn't there. You can't wait a minute with your foot to the floor when you're in the middle of an intersection. sometimes it will slowly accelerate. This has caused multiple situations where I thought I was going to die due to being out in cross traffic and failing to be able to move. It happens both in reverse and forward. It happens even though I have warmed up the engine for 5 minutes or more. It seems to happen more at altitude but has also happened at sea level. It doesn't seem to matter if the outdoor temperature is warm or cold. The dealer can not detect a problem. I have read many accounts of this happening on MBZ forums. This must be a known issue with MBZ yet they have failed to solve it. Some think it is a sensor initiation issue after a cold soak. Someone is going to die because of this problem if MBZ is not forced to fix it.

We purchased a 2021 mb sprinter Van, modified up fitted as a RV with 15842 miles from MBSO Orlando on June 26th 2024. In Idaho on the freeway we were pulled over for illegal tint and while we were not ticketed after reviewing the purchase agreement. He warned us to be careful driving especially at night as it was could be very hard to see and it was certified. It harder to see for me as I have some degree of stigmatization with my eye sight as I am [XXX] which is to be expected. After arriving back in Seattle area where we live and found significant rust on the roof of the van and given an estimate for $16500 by certified mb body shop, I emailed the service manager about the rust and illegal tint that was not disclosed, he basically dismissed it…..stating that I had opportunity to view it and it’s buyer responsibility once it’s sold. The failed to respond adequately as to why they certified CPO the 2021 Van, which was misleading to consumers. This is a serious breach of trust for we were expecting a van had passed safety and structural inspection thoroughly by a brand name known for quality and integrity. Now I am faced with additional expenses which we are unable to bear. The side door will not open. Either the cable part of the mechanism gets stretched or the rubber tensioners need adjustment or the plastic cable hub becomes detached to the point where neither the interior passengers or someone outside can let the passengers out. The Distronic Cruise Control stops working and then will start working again several times on long trips. After research it appears if the radar doesn't detect anything in front of your vehicle for an hour it thinks it is inoperable and and shuts the Distronic Cruise Control off and it cannot be reengaged. If it detect a vehicles in front of you for four minutes or more it will reset the radar and your Distronic Cruise Control can be turned on again. This is dangerous as it requires you to follow closely behind another vehicle for at least four minutes to reset. Out west where I live there are a lot of road stretches' where you will have little to no traffic for over an hour. Mercedes needs to change this software bug and provide another method for it's radar check warning.

Smog test failed California smog test due to the OBD 02 sensor (exhaust engine sensor) not being ready. Despite our efforts, including driving over 1000 miles and following Mercedes recommended drive cycle steps repeatedly, the issue persists. On long trips (when you need cruise control the most) the adaptive cruise control will (seemingly at random) stop working with a warning about the active distance assist and active brake assist. It has happened in all situations from heavy traffic to long distances of no other cars on the road. It stays non-functional for anywhere from a few minutes to several days. This sprinter van is a 2500 4x4 to exit or enter the vehicle you must use the step, this requires, you to twist sideways and reach down with your foot to the step. On the seat which is attached to the metal frame there is a plastic piece which holds the seat switch, which is held on by a plastic plug and a reusable plastic rivet. As you enter or exit the van and use the step your weight pushes the leather seat against the plastic which holds the seat switch and causes the attachments to fail causing you to fall. I Have fallen twice once into traffic.

since I am chemically sensitive and they had sprayed so much cleaner in this vehicle that when my husband got it home he took vinegar and cleaned it out many times and then he took it to someone to have them do the floor over so the plastic smell wouldn't stink so bad for me. It had to be there for a couple weeks or this I'm sure would have showed up much sooner. At one time our vehicle would not accelerate enough to pass or pull out safely from a stop sign but that seems to have gotten fixed but it continues to have the cruise control go off at the same time warning lights come on that says no brake assist no Lane keeping assist no distance. We have had it in the shop four times one time they had us replace the battery which really didn't need replaced and the things came back up again. It's a very frustrating vehicle and this happened within 30 days of us buying it. They gave us a limited 90 day warranty which they've been working on sporadically for months and keeping it for weeks at a time. We have spent a lot of time and money on this vehicle and it needs to be reported and something done about it as it's really really bad. It is an ongoing situation. Every time we take it in they either erase the warnings or somehow don't get it to act the same but it always happens with us within 200 miles of driving it. It's a constant thing on and off.

Adaptive brake assist slammed on the brakes without warning at 20-30mph while crossing railroad tracks bringing the van to a complete stop and putting it into park with the parking brake engaged while on the tracks. No object or vehicle was in the path of the van or anywhere nearby. Cargo slid forward in the van and some things being transported were damaged. This is at least the 4th time this vehicle has done this without a reason to, but this time was the only while at speed and moving forward. They have usually occurred because of a shadow on the ground or change of road surface while backing up. Warning beeps also happen when passing under overpasses on the highway and it appears to momentarily consider braking because of the shadow. At 70mph. Taking to the dealer to try and assess, but this appears to be a known problem according to online Sprinter forums and related to software. Incredibly dangerous.

Our Sprinter 2500 is equipped with Mercedes Benz autonomous cruise (Distronic Cruise). It fails repeatedly for unknown reason, and when it does it also disabled related safety features (collision warning, emergency braking) as well as standard cruise control. The manual suggests checking for bugs, snow, or other obstructions on sensors, but they’ve been clear. Forums note that their vans also cut out, theorizing that it happens because there aren’t any vehicles in front of the van for prolonged periods of time and the software thinks there is an error. They also note that Mercedes had not been helpful. The fact 1) it happens for unknown reasons, and 2) it disables essential safety systems is concerning and unacceptable.

Error Message: "Service Required: Do Not Shift Gears, Visit Dealer" The 2021 Sprinter Van indeed would not shift gears and I was stranded. I was finally able to be towed two days later to a Mercedes Benz dealership. The technician noted corrosion in the EIS unit and replaced. It appears to be a known problem with Sprinter vans with bulletin from Mercedes[XXX] due to condensation getting into this vital area. I started my Sprinter, which was converted into a Grech RV, and while still in park a few seconds later, the vehicle started to move. Before I could hop back in the driver's seat to stop the vehicle, it crashed into my garage overhang and significantly damaged my Sprinter's back doors and back structure. How it started to move was a complete mystery to me as it was in park and I had just started the vehicle a few seconds prior. While doing some research, I saw an article in an auto blog forum about Sprinter Van roll-aways. I then received a safety recall notice from Mercedes about this very issue that I experienced. This involves NHTSA Recall #22V796. The incident was reported to my insurance company and the vehicle is currently awaiting repair. Thankfully, no one was injured.

When driving in a low-density area, on roads with little to no traffic, the vehicle assumes that the radar has failed if it does not see a vehicle in front of it for a long enough time. Since this is a larger van, I tend to drive 65mph on higher speed roads such as an interstate. Many cars understandably pass me as the speed limit is usually much higher. Even though they pass me the van does not register that car on the radar in regard to its failure state. When the radar "detects" that it's failed (which it has not) it disables the adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, and in general any speed control. This is a very drastic measure for a device that has not actually failed. Again, all cruise/ speed control functionality is disabled, and the vehicle must be driven with the peddle while the radar is in a "failure" state. To restore functionality, I have to tailgate another car, if there is one around, for 5 to 10 miles. Once the radar is happy with seeing enough return signals it will re-engage the adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. If there are no other vehicles around for the next hour the process repeats. My vehicle is listed as one of the 2100+ sprinter vans affected by the incorrect assembly of the torsion bar(Manufacturer Recall Number 2022030013; NHTSA Recall Number 22V131). This recall was issued on March 17, 2022. It has now been over 120 days since that recall was issued and the parts are not yet available. I believe the manufacturer has exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.

The contact owns a 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500. The contact stated while driving at an unknown speed, the air conditioning system failed to function properly. The contact pulled over and looked underneath the vehicle and noticed that the alternator belt and serpentine belts were not properly seated and were hanging down loosely. The vehicle continued to operate normally. The contact researched and became aware that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V474000 (Electrical System) however, neither the VIN nor vehicle type was included.
