The entire ADAS system fails when the temperature is over 100°. It has applied the emergency braking system with no cars in front of me. All the warning lights go off and the entire system just fails. Also, my windshield just (2 days ago) randomly cracked while sitting in my carport. The crack begins at the top front windshield seal on goes down right alongside the ADAS camera housing and then goes to the left and down right in front of my driver's side view above the steering wheel. This is a heat stress crack and was not from an impact. There is definitely a current and ongoing issue with the ADAS since I bought the car with 14 miles on it. There is something seriously wrong with the system itself and how it was installed at the factory and is really dangerous.

My front windshield broke from a heat stress crack from the top seal above the ADAS camera/driver assist module and runs down alongside the camera housing and then cracked all the way in front of driver's side above my steering wheel. The car was not moving and was just sitting in my carport. I have had problems with the ADAD system not functioning properly since I bought the car in 2022 from heat related issues.

While driving my 2022 Honda HR-V, multiple Honda Sensing warning messages appeared simultaneously, including front camera system errors. Features such as Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, and Adaptive Cruise Control became unavailable. The warnings affect important safety systems and also create a distraction while driving. This appears to be the same front camera defect that many other Honda owners have reported.

I purchased a used 2022 Honda HR-V with approximately 32,000 miles. Upon experiencing severe steering anomalies, a professional mechanical inspection revealed that a non-compliant, off-market/aftermarket steering rack had been installed on the vehicle. This was done without my knowledge or disclosure at the time of sale. This unapproved component presents an immediate safety risk of sudden steering loss, binding, or unexpected mechanical failure at highway speeds. This generation of the Honda HR-V is currently subject to a massive 1.7-million-vehicle NHTSA steering recall (Campaign 24V744) for "sticky steering" and gear defects. While the recall officially targets 2023–2025 models, my 2022 model is experiencing identical low-mileage steering failures. It appears the previous owner installed a cheap, undocumented aftermarket rack to bypass these exact steering defects before trading it in, which the selling dealership failed to detect during their safety inspection.I am filing this report to document an immediate vehicle safety hazard and to urge the NHTSA to expand its current steering defect investigation to include the 2022 model year, as these vehicles are suffering from the same core steering system vulnerabilities.

NHTSA Safety Defect Complaint Vehicle Information: 2022 Honda HR-V Current Mileage: 11,000 miles VIN: [XXX] Description of Safety Defect: I am filing an urgent safety complaint regarding a life-threatening steering failure on my 2022 Honda HR-V, which currently has only 11,000 miles. While driving, the electronic steering wheel intermittently catches, binds, and momentarily locks up. This requires sudden physical force to break it free, causing the vehicle to jerk and creating an immediate crash hazard. An authorized Honda dealership inspected the vehicle and pulled diagnostic code C1420-29 (Main Torque Sensor and Sub Torque Sensor Incorrect Correlation). This exact diagnostic code, physical binding symptom, and component failure mechanism match the identical factory defect outlined in Honda's active 1.7-million vehicle steering safety recall (NHTSA Recall #24V744000). My vehicle carries a rebuilt title due strictly to documented cosmetic rear tailgate damage. The front suspension, front impact zones, and the steering gearbox assembly were completely untouched in the prior incident and remain in original factory condition. American Honda Corporate has formally refused to repair this hazardous defect because the VIN is not explicitly covered under the current production batch parameters of Recall #24V744000, and they are using the branded title to deny out-of-warranty safety liability. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this failure and push for an expansion of the recall population to include 2022 models experiencing identical torque sensor correlation failures. Vehicle Information: •Year/Make/Model: [2022, Honda HR-V •VIN (17 digits): [[XXX] •Current Mileage: 22000 Miles Description of Safety Defect: The electronic power steering system suffers from a severe defect causing the steering wheel to seize, bind, and freeze completely locked while the vehicle is in motion. This binding defect causes a sudden, unpredictable loss of steering control, forcing the driver to struggle with the wheel or wait for the system to loosen, presenting an extreme, imminent risk of a motor vehicle crash, injury, or death. Chronological Incident Summary: Over the last six months, the steering wheel on this vehicle has frozen completely while driving on four separate occasions. The incidents occurred under normal driving conditions at varying speeds. During each occurrence, the steering wheel momentarily locked tight, resisting all manual steering input. The vehicle did not provide any electronic warning lights or dashboard errors prior to or during the failures. Control was only regained after forcefully wrestling with the wheel or, in some cases, safely pulling over to restart the vehicle engine. Manufacturer/Dealer Action: The vehicle was taken to an authorized Honda dealership to address this catastrophic safety failure. However, the service department refused to acknowledge the issue, stating they could not replicate the malfunction and declined to perform any diagnostic repairs. Public Context & Recall Relevance: This defect perfectly replicates the failure mode thoroughly documented under NHTSA Recall Campaign 24V744000 for "sticky steering" and binding gearboxes in 2023–2025 Honda HR-V models. Despite widespread online consumer reports and thousands of matching manufacturer warranty claims for the exact same steering gearbox swelling issue, the dealer has failed to provide the necessary remedy. I am filing this complaint because the manufacturer's denial of this known defect leaves an inherently dangerous vehicle on public INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle has a recurring safety defect where it suddenly shuts off / stalls while driving. This has happened multiple times, including immediately after the dealership performed repairs and issued "clean" diagnostic reports stating no issues were found. Key details: PCU codes were present on the first visit but were not properly addressed. Repair orders contain clear inconsistencies, including claims of test drives and mileage that do not match the actual odometer readings. On the most recent visit, I did not authorize any further repairs, yet the dealership now claims the vehicle is "resolved" and ready for pickup. The vehicle has been at Honda dealerships for a total of 57 days across multiple failed repair attempts. I have refused to take possession of the vehicle due to the ongoing safety risk of it shutting off while driving.

Since purchasing my 2022 Honda HR-V in 2024, I have experienced ongoing unintended or “phantom” braking while driving at highway speeds with adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and the Collision Mitigation Braking System activated. When a vehicle is traveling in an adjacent lane—most frequently on the right side—the dashboard displays an orange brake warning, and the vehicle abruptly brakes without driver input despite no obstruction in my lane. This issue occurs approximately four times per week, and the vehicle currently has about 75,000 miles. During each incident, I disengage adaptive cruise control using the steering wheel controls to regain manual control. Although no accidents or injuries have occurred, these sudden braking events have resulted in multiple near-miss situations and present a significant safety concern.

Subject: Safety Defect Report – Steering Wheel Lock-Up & Lack of Notification – 2022 Honda HR-V Description of Incident: I am reporting a severe, life-threatening safety defect regarding the steering system of my 2022 Honda HR-V. While driving, the steering wheel suddenly and unexpectedly locks up, making it nearly impossible to steer. This has occurred more than three times recently, with increasing frequency. Key Safety Concerns: •Sudden Loss of Control: The steering becomes rigid without warning, creating an immediate risk of a crash. This has occurred during each of my last three trips. •Lack of Manufacturer Notification: According to official NHTSA Recall 24V-744, the "sticky steering" gearbox recall includes certain 2022–2025 Honda models. However, I never received a recall notice for my vehicle. •Contradictory Information: My research confirms that the 2022 model year and the HR-V model are specifically named in the broad recall for this steering gearbox defect. Despite my vehicle exhibiting the exact "sticky" and locking behavior identified in the recall, I have not been contacted by Honda for the free repair. •Manufacturer Acknowledgment: Both my local dealer and Honda corporate have confirmed that 2023 and newer models are being recalled, yet my 2022 model—built within the same production window and using the same faulty supplier parts—is not being prioritized for service. Request for Action: I request that NHTSA investigate why 2022 HR-V models experiencing these dangerous failures were not included in the primary notification mailing. I urge NHTSA to ensure that all 2022 HR-V owners experiencing this steering gearbox failure are granted access to the free repair (gearbox or worm gear spring replacement) Google Search Yes, a significant "sticky steering" issue affecting nearly 1.7 million Honda and Acura vehicles from the 2022–2025 model years is being addressed through a massive NHTSA recall (Campaign 24V-744), initiated in October 2024. I bought the car at the dealership with 50,000 miles on it and purchased an extended warranty as well. I drive for a living with this car and after a few months noticed it would rev high before shifting. When I brought it back to the dealership they did something to it but did not say what. It smelled like they put catalyst cleaner in it though not confirmed. I then had the issue again and the car smelled like burning rubber. I took it to a honda dealership and had the transmission fluid as well as the rear differential fluid changed but they did could not find any issues. Now that my warranty has run out and I have over 150,000 I had a tire shop where I was buying new tires inform me that the rear differential carrier bracket bushings were in need of being replaced as soon as possible. I could not afford for them to do it for me. I have researched online and have found this very well could have been the problem with the shifting and rubber smell the entire time. My car was under warranty and now it is not. Why is Honda not replacing this to prevent even bigger failure and repair issues. My son owns a 2019 Honda C RV as well and he says his car is experiencing the exact same issue.

I am reporting a transmission failure in my 2022 Honda HR-V at approximately 129,000 miles. While driving on the interstate highway at normal speed, the vehicle suddenly began revving excessively without accelerating. The engine RPM increased, but the vehicle failed to maintain proper speed or respond as expected. This occurred without any prior warning signs or indicators. Shortly after, the vehicle continued to have issues where it would shift into gear but not properly move or engage. All dashboard warning lights became illuminated following the incident. I took the vehicle to a dealership for diagnosis, and they confirmed that the transmission is failing. They reported finding metal shavings inside the transmission, indicating internal mechanical damage and premature wear. This sudden loss of power and inability to accelerate properly while driving at highway speeds created a serious safety hazard. The vehicle could have been rear-ended or caused an accident due to the unexpected loss of performance. A major component like the transmission should not fail in this manner, especially without warning, as it poses a significant safety risk to the driver and others on the road.

I've been the only owner to this 22' Honda HRV and I have serviced it at the dealer 90% of the time. All oil changes, coolant flush, transmission services etc. done on time. I recently got it diagnosed at my local Honda dealer because it was starting to make a noise when you stepped on the gas. The noise started at about 95k miles and becomes louder as you increase the speed of the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed it with an internal transmission failure. There were no warning lights or messages ever. No prior check engine lights on or mechanical issues prior to this. I am very disappointed with this vehicle. Hopefully this issue is looked into. I do not hope for this to happen to anyone with this vehicle.

I am writing to formally report a recurring safety defect regarding the infotainment system in my 2022 Honda HR-V. For over a month, the system has remained completely non-functional (blank screen). Prior to this total failure, the unit exhibited intermittent power cycles since the date of purchase around February 2024. Upon inspection by an authorized Honda dealership, technicians confirmed that this is a known computer hardware issue frequent in this model year. Despite their admission that they "see this a lot," there is currently no active recall to address the defect. Safety Implications This failure is not merely a convenience issue; it creates several significant safety hazards: • Loss of Driver Assistance: The rearview camera and LaneWatch camera are completely disabled, significantly increasing the risk of collisions during reversing or lane changes. • Distracted Driving: I am unable to use integrated navigation, forcing reliance on handheld devices for directions. • Emergency Communication: The internal USB ports have failed along with the unit, preventing phone charging. This leaves me at risk of having no communication during a roadside emergency or breakdown. Evidence I have documented video evidence of a certified Honda technician stating that this is a pervasive and "very common" issue with this vehicle's architecture. I urge the association to investigate these systemic failures. A safety-critical component like the rearview camera should not be subject to such widespread hardware instability without a manufacturer-led remedy.

On Sunday, 02/08/2026, I parked briefly to drop something off. When I tried to restart the car, it was clicking but would not start. An engine light came on, and a flashing message appeared saying “Park.” I initially thought it was a battery issue, but the warning light remained on. The next morning, the car started, but the engine was locked and the vehicle would not move forward or backward. I called the Honda dealer, and the technician advised me to tow and bring the vehicle in as soon as possible. I restarted the vehicle, and the message on the screen cleared and the vehicle was engaged. I then dropped the vehicle off at the dealership. After inspection, they told me the front passenger seat weight sensor needed to be replaced, which is very expensive ($1,300) When I researched the, Honda has already recalled their vehicles for this same issue, and I am not sure I need to pay all this money for something that is caused by an identified defect of the vehicle system. My car was impacted by the exact issue impacting Honda HRV's manufactured in 2022, but my VIN does not show that I am eligible. This is a mistake and I would ask NHTSA to investigate other 2022 HRVs which may be impacted by this recall (information posted below). Summary American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2019-2022 model year HR-V vehicles. The power circuit in the display audio unit was improperly designed. When the engine is started with an ignition key, the cranking can cause the battery's state of charge to drop, which may prevent the display audio from booting up, resulting in the failure to display the rearview camera image. Additionally, vehicles previously repaired with the initial software update received a version that insufficiently corrected the display audio unit boot up procedure, resulting in the failure to display the rearview camera image. Safety Risk If the display audio unit does not boot up, the rearview camera image will not display, which may affect the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash or injury. Remedy Registered owners of all affected vehicles (including previously repaired vehicles) will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer. The dealer will reprogram the display audio unit with updated software containing the proper boot up procedure. Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own expense may be eligible for reimbursement, in accord with the recall reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA. Subject: Safety Complaint – 2022 Honda HR‑V – Intermittent Unintended Acceleration While Braking I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety defect in my 2022 Honda HR‑V. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has unexpectedly accelerated while I was pressing the brake pedal. This behavior is intermittent, unpredictable, and dangerous. Description of the Issue: While slowing down or coming to a stop, the vehicle will occasionally surge forward despite my foot being firmly on the brake. The engine revs and the vehicle attempts to move forward against braking force. This is not driver error. It occurs without any warning lights, alerts, or diagnostic messages. Operating Conditions When the Problem Occurs: - Low‑speed braking (parking lots, stop signs, traffic - Foot fully on the brake pedal - No cruise control active - No pedals obstructed - Normal road and weather conditions Safety Concerns: This defect creates a clear risk of: - Rear‑end collisions - Pedestrian injury - Property damage Loss of vehicle control The behavior is consistent with an electronic brake/throttle control malfunction, including possible issues with the brake pedal position sensor, accelerator pedal sensor, brake booster pressure sensor, or driver‑assist modules (ABS, ESC, CMBS). Other HR‑V owners have reported similar incidents. Dealer Response: The issue is intermittent, and the dealership has been unable to reproduce it. No repairs have been performed. No diagnostic codes were stored. Requested Action: I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential unintended acceleration defect affecting the 2022 Honda HR‑V. This problem poses a significant safety hazard to me and to the public. Thank you for your attention to this matter. When I turned my car on, the airbag system (SRS) Problem light was on. I was worried if it was an airbag problem, or sensor problem, so I brought the vehicle in for inspection at two locations. The first location was an independent service center, in which I was told it was a sensor problem. They weren't available to repair or needed an appointment to thoroughly check the problem. Therefore, I made an appointment for the next day at a Honda dealership. I thought that my vehicle may have been a part of the safety recall from the service bulletin 24-036. Upon inspection and a partial diagnosis (they didn't took apart my vehicle near the wheel or touch screen/audio for the sensor underneath), I was told I had a sensor problem under the front passenger seat with the code error U3000-49. However, I was told that my vehicle was not covered under the safety recall. I'm afraid of whether my airbags will be working properly if the sensor isn't working. There was no warning lights, symptoms of problems, or messages prior to the sensor light turning on.

A catastrophic failure occurred in the continuously variable transmission (CVT) of a 2022 model year vehicle at approximately 81,000 miles. While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power; the engine revved rapidly without transferring any power to the wheels. The failure was diagnosed by an authorized dealership service center (documented on Repair Order #349133). The diagnosis confirmed that the transmission failed due to an internal component breakdown, stating: "FOUND SEVERAL METAL DEBRIS FOUND WHEN DRAINING AND STRAINING FLUID." The manufacturer (American Honda) has since confirmed in writing that the root cause was a manufacturing defect, effectively acknowledging that the failure was not due to wear, tear, or maintenance neglect. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer. The component is available for inspection. This premature, total failure of a major powertrain component on a relatively new vehicle poses a safety risk due to the sudden loss of power while operating at highway speeds.

Driving on the highway loud clunk heard and car started rattling. Pulled over to inspect underneath car and couldn’t see anything. Brought it to the dealership and they confirmed the rear differential seized due to a bad seal causing a leak and both rear CV axels broke. Going over 55 mph causes vehicle to severely shake.

On [XXX], the vehicle unexpectedly shut down while I was driving. After having the car towed to Honda of Fort Myers for inspection, I was informed that the ground wire had been tampered with—something typically associated with prior accident damage. This is deeply concerning as I was not made aware of any such damage or tampering at the time of purchase. Additionally, I was charged $738 to retrieve my vehicle from Honda of Fort Myers. Despite multiple attempts to contact your Customer Care department, including a call where I was placed on hold for over 30 minutes, I have yet to receive any meaningful assistance or follow-up. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, to which I received a response from JP directing me to a Carfax report that does not address the actual issue at hand. For your reference, the vehicle has only had one oil change since purchase, which was performed through Kia of Cape Coral. I am requesting immediate attention to this matter and a resolution to hold the dealership accountable for selling a vehicle with undisclosed damage or tampering. Thank you. I was driving to work when suddenly my car lost motor function and just stopped, despite me pushing the gas pedal. This has happened to me at least 4 times now since owning the car for less than two years. I have almost been rear-ended each time. This time, however, my car did not want to start back up again. It flashed the battery and oil light on my dash and proceeded to tell me to hit the brake and push button to start (even though it was running), so I turned the vehicle off and attempted to start it again like I have in the past when encountering this issue. When I went to re-start the car, it sputtered and wouldn't start until I waited and tried again. I am very concerned, as I have a dog that I have in the backseat and if I get rear-ended, I will sue if there are injuries. I want a call about this immediately, as it is often pushed aside and I am fed up.

I the restarted the vehicle and have not had the issue again, it's been a week. However I had this happen twice last year and took my vehicle back to jones honda to have them diagnose the issue. They can find no issue. When this happens I'm always making a left turn. No lights on the dashboard come on either.

I was driving in the [XXX] at 70 MPH when suddenly, and without warning, the car refused to accelerate. It was in effect switched to "neutral." I managed to guide the car to the very narrow shoulder of the turnpike. It was an incredibly dangerous situation. I was fortunate that there were no cars in the immediate area, otherwise I would have been hit. The car would not move in any gear. I took the car to the Honda dealership and they confirmed the transmission was shot. It will need to be replaced. The vehicle has 56,000. On [XXX] while driving on [XXX] , the driver’s airbag in my 2022 Honda HR-V suddenly deployed without any impact or collision. This created a major safety hazard, obstructing vision and forcing the driver to pull over immediately. The seat belt tensioner also engaged, restricting movement. There were no warning lights, no forward collision warnings, and no external factors that could have caused deployment. A diagnostic inspection at Larry Hopkins Honda (Sunnyvale, CA) confirmed that the vehicle’s Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) recorded NO impact prior to deployment. This exact issue aligns with Honda’s Safety Recall 24-036 (Seat Weight Sensor Defect) for the 2020-2022 HR-V, yet my vehicle's VIN is not included in the recall. Despite multiple attempts to escalate with Honda Corporate and the dealership, Honda has refused to acknowledge this as a defect or cover the repair. This is a critical safety failure that could have caused a serious accident or injury. I request NHTSA to investigate this issue, as other 2022 HR-Vs may also be at risk for random airbag deployment. After filling up the gas tank, the next morning when started the electric parking brake and check engine warning lights appeared with flashing red parking light on. Everything seemed to be working fine. The parking brake worked, and engine was fine. After internet research I narrowed it down to either a battery (3-years old), or a bad tank of gas, I checked the gas cap, ok. I hooked up my OBE engine monitor and it coded P2DE1, with its 5 potential issues. The internet has many complaints and issues about this dating back to 2016. People have replaced fuel injectors, O2 sensors, etc., costing a lot of money on unnecessary repairs. I replaced the battery, and all the dashboard lights went out. The OEM battery lasts about 3-years. Apparently, if the voltage drops below what is needed numerous warning lights come on. It is unsafe. Mandatory software upgrade for pcm U0155, or other safety recall to rectify?

On Thursday last week, I went out to my car that I have parked in the garage the day before I had no issues with the vehicle drove it all day, but on Thursday, I left home to go out to make some errands hopped in my car and I tried to start it. First car wouldn’t turn on, so I thought maybe I should turn off headlights and interior lights. Then I waited a few minutes and thought maybe the cold temperatures was messing with the car. So I just walked away from the car and I got a battery slow drip thinking that the battery might be dead but battery said it had a full charge at 100% charge. So I tried my battery tester battery said battery was about 100% fully charged. So I waited until my friends got home so they could witness that I wasn’t crazy. The only thing the car did after trying to start again was make a clicking sound for about three minutes then the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Every light came on every hazard that was built into the car was on saying that it needs a dealer to be checked or fixed so I called my local Honda dealership and they said that I should call roadside assistance because the car wouldn’t start. So before I could call roadside, I tried to jumpstart the car and nothing happened. So I went back in the house and about a two minutes later, the car crank and started itself, and it stayed on, but when I tried to turn it off, it told me that it could not be turned off due to some reason, I can’t remember from what it said on Thursday. So Thursday afternoon, I drove it up to our local Honda dealership and on the way up there the car shut off twice on the highway in motion which scared the mess out of me because I thought I was going to have an accident then about a mile from the dealership, the dashboard went black and so did the touchscreen, but then it came back on. But long story short local dealership said there’s nothing they can do to duplicate the issue in the car would not be fixed so I’m concerned that something else might happen

All sensor warning lights came on the dashboard. Car would not move. Code showed no gas (tank was full). code for emergency brake (not engaged). Service department. of Honda dealer finally diagnosed fuel sensor getting stuck. Dealer said they would order part and replace it. They never ordered part and will not return our phone calls. They said they would talk to Honda to see if this model Honda was having this problem. No feedback. This situation has happened several times over the last 10 months. Usually happens when parked with engine running or moving very slowly. We turn off car for a few minutes. We are then able to move vehicle. Sensor lights eventually go off. We are afraid to go far from home because we never know when this will happen and if we can get it moving again. This car has about 31000 miles on it.

When driving on the highway at around 76 mph, the vehicle suddenly presents power loss and won't accelerate nor rev even if I step into the pedal all the way (No light in the dashboard). Going in the high speed lane, I had to stop in the shoulder lane and turn off the vehicle. After turning it on again, a couple of minutes later the problem was back. This would be the third time I have had the problem. Took it to Honda for a checkup and told them that no light came on in the dashboard, and also told them that the problem has been present when going over 70mph, and what they did is try to replicate the problem at 70mph.

Vehicle loses throttle response multiple times a day while traveling on the highway or roads where slowing/stopping isn't frequent. Vehicle will be traveling 50-80mph and will not accelerate even with the pedal on the floor. Vehicle will either maintain speed or start slowing down, occasionally it will rapidly slow down. I will have to fully release the accelerator pedal and lightly slam it all the way to the floor and then the vehicle will decide to respond. A few times while driving in moderate traffic (30-45mph) the throttle will lose all response and will not respond to any pedal input at all for about 5-8 seconds and then will all of a sudden start functioning as intended again. I assume the third issue the vehicle is having with acceleration is related to the first two as well, occasionally it will have very slow acceleration when trying to get up to speed to merge onto the highway. It will take about ¼-⅓ of a mile or about 45-60 seconds to reach 60-70mph. When this occurs I will have the pedal all the way to the floor from the beginning of a fairly long on ramp and by the end of the ramp I will be going no faster than 50mph maybe 55mph. I assume all of this is caused by the CVT transmission or possibly the ECU. I have contacted Honda regarding these issues and they stated that they are aware of these issues and that they are fairly common, and that they also believe that it is a transmission or computer issue, but there is nothing they can nor will do about it because Honda corperate requires them to diagnose every issue through the vehicles computer. So if the vehicle doesn't have a warning light or any DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) set in the computer they can't (or wont) do anything about it eventhough there is clearly an issue that is entirely able to be diagnosed without a DTC. 90% of the time a bad CVT will never set a DTC. I don't speak on all this because I THINK I know, I speak on this because KNOW I know as I am an ASE certified master technician

My HRV with 1800 miles suddenly stopped in an intersection only after owning the vehicle for 2 weeks. The Honda dealership tested the computer system, drove the car, and found no abnormalities. The dealership then asked that i pick up the car and drive it as they were unable to replicate the problem. If it were to happen again I was to let them know. I made it clear that I was not going to take the car back as I believed that the driving the car was posed a safety issue.

Windshield wipers suddenly just stopped working without warning while I was driving my 2022 Honda HRV (36,603 miles) during a rainfall. Thankfully I was not on the interstate and I was able to pull over into a parking lot. I took my car to the Napleton Honda Morton Grove Illinois where they inspected my vehicle. They said I need to replace the windshield wiper motor and linkage ($1100!). The car gave me NO warning messages leading up this this event. This could have been catastrophic to me and other drivers if I were in a heavy rainstorm on the interstate when this windshield wiper failure occurred. Please investigate to see if a recall is needed.

The transmission is making a growling sound, also while driving at time when go to accelerate faster on freeway it stays where it's at even if you push pedal all the way down. Took to Honda dealer they acknowledge something is wrong with transmission but don't know what, so they want me to wait until a light comes on and to bring it back. I called Honda Corp but they were no help at all. Told them I was only 2500 miles from being out of warranty and if they could extend the warranty but was told no, but they would note about the problem. I am worried about my safety as they do acknowledge that there is a problem but dont know what and want me to continue driving it. I drive lots of miles everyday due to the type of work that I do. I was told not to worry because even if transmission fails while driving I always have my brakes still. Not much comfort in that responce.

Received the following message on the infotainment screen upon starting my car: "system lost power and is acquiring its location from the GPS satellites. This usually takes less than 10 minutes. * Start the engine. * Park the vehicle in an open area away from trees, power lines, and tall buildings. * Remove loose articles, mobile phones, or electrical accessories located near the GPS antenna. * If this screen is displayed repeatedly when starting the vehicle, see your dealer" Took the car back to the dealership, they ran some basic tests and said they couldn't replicate the issue and to bring it back if it happened again. When it happened again, I returned to a Honda dealership that told me that I would have to pay a diagnostic fee to determine what was wrong and that since the error wasn't happening at the time more than likely they wouldn't be able to find anything. I even had a recording of it happening on my phone when it did happen. I have had this happen at least 20-25 times since I purchased the car in April 2022. It renders the infotainment completely useless for any sort of navigation, reverse camera, or radio.

Investigations
1 NHTSA investigation on record
Investigations are agency reviews, not findings that a vehicle is defective.
On November 29, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE 22-011 after reviewing field reports alleging rear differential seizure in 2018-2022MY Honda CR-V and HR-V vehicles equipped with all wheel drive. To date, ODI has not received any consumer complaints. Some of the field reports received alleged the vehicle’s wheels locked up with no warning while the vehicle was in motion. These vehicles were towed to a dealership. Examination of these vehicles showed the driveshaft had broken and the differential unit was completely damaged. The field reports cited a lack of oil due to damaged oil seals as the cause. Honda provided data including consumer complaints, field reports, and warranty claims they received relating to the loss of oil retention and resulting differential damage. Honda’s data cited 1201 incidents with unique vehicle identification numbers (VINs). The rear differential oil seals prevent the oil from leaking out and protect internal components from contaminants. A loss of oil lubrication results in failure of the vehicle differential. Honda stated that the oil seal’s lip contact with the driveshaft may become unstable due to intermittent changes in internal pressure. Their review of field report and warranty data indicated that these failures occurred early in the vehicle’s life thus the failures were covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Honda stated that in November 2021 they changed the seal specifications and improved the packaging process of the parts for transport. Honda also enacted an enhanced visual inspection process both before and after the oil seal installation on the assembly line. Honda stated that in the event of differential failure, the operator can control the vehicle without stability loss. After the drive shafts break due to differential failure, the operator will hear noises and the vehicle will still function as a 2WD vehicle preventing complete loss of motive power. Based on the following factors, ODI is closing this investigation: · Information regarding field failures does not indicate hazardous outcomes · The failures are occurring early in the life of the vehicle · Repairs are covered under the manufacturer’s warranty · The vehicle can continue functioning as a 2WD without loss of stability control in the event of failure The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist, and the agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by new circumstances.
