2019 Honda HR-V

Honda sensing error codes started lighting up all of a sudden. My HRV has never been in any kind of minor or major accident. We bought it new back in 2019. It currently has 13424 miles. This error is unexplainable as we have maintained this car so thoroughly. This error is not safe for drivers as it causes confusion especially when it just suddenly pops out while driving.

My 2019 HR-V paint started peeling. Unfortunately 2019 is not one of the recall years for this problem. The white paint has started to peel and keeps getting worse and worse. I have read stories of others with my year HR-V getting the paint taken care of since it's obviously the same problem that is happening with the 2018 white HR-V's that have a recall. I am hoping Honda will also recall the 2019 to have this issue rectified. It is quite embarrasing driving around with chipping paint on the roof of my car.

While driving, a vehicle attempted to pass three cars at once. At the last minute, the person saw an oncoming car approaching and quickly came back to the other lane, cause the three cars to break hard quickly. I, the one putting down this complaint, am the only one who hit another vehicle. I hit that vehicle in its rear as everyone was breaking. The driver side airbag did not deploy from the impact. There were no other persons in my vehicle. At this time, there is no independent center to confirm that it should of deployed. The vehicle has only been inspected on the extent of the damage to it by my insurer. There were no light warnings of any kind that I can recall from the crash.

It started as all the dashboard lights came on, and the car smelled like gasoline. Then when I would fill up my gas tank, it would only go to 3/4 of a tank and the gas fumes increased. I was parked at the VCU campus parking lot when the gas started to leak out of the bottom of the car. The fire department came and said I could not drive the car until it was serviced. I was told at the mechanic that there is a hairline crack at the top of the fuel pump housing. The transfer tube was hung up on the float, causing false fuel tank readings. Had I been driving the car it could have caught fire which would have been disastrous and possibly fatal to myself and others around me. I bought this car in 2019. The white paint is starting to flake off. The car is starting to rust. This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a catastrophic CVT transmission failure in my 2019 Honda HR-V at approximately 97,500 miles. In May 2026, while driving in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, my vehicle suddenly experienced a complete loss of propulsion. Multiple warning lights illuminated on the dashboard simultaneously. Although the engine would rev and the vehicle could be shifted into gear, it would not move properly and became unsafe to operate. The vehicle left me stranded away from home and required towing. I incurred significant expenses for towing, diagnostic fees, transportation, lodging, and related costs due to the breakdown. After diagnosis, I was informed that the CVT transmission had failed and required replacement at an estimated cost of approximately $10,000. I later learned that Honda had issued Service Bulletins 21-046 and 21-047 concerning CVT belt deterioration and transmission issues in 2016-2020 Honda HR-V vehicles. These bulletins acknowledge that an incorrect PCM value could cause excessive pressure on the CVT belt, potentially leading to partial or complete belt breakage and sudden loss of acceleration. Honda also extended warranty coverage on affected vehicles due to premature CVT belt deterioration. My vehicle falls within the affected model years and experienced symptoms consistent with those described in Honda’s service information. Despite this, Honda denied my request for goodwill assistance, even though the failure occurred at relatively low mileage for a modern transmission and only shortly after the warranty extension period expired. I am concerned that this transmission defect creates a safety risk because it can result in sudden loss of acceleration or vehicle propulsion while driving, potentially placing drivers and passengers in dangerous situations. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate the CVT transmission failures affecting Honda HR-V vehicles and determine whether additional action is warranted.

Sunroof caused a leak in the vehicle cabin, under the front driver rug. So the water was coming up from the floor. This was after a heavy rain. I was told by Honda the drains were clogged and paid $1k for repair 5 months ago. I just recently noticed more water pooling on the rug after another heavy rain and now they say the seals on the sunroof are failing. I rarely use the sunroof. I purchased the car new. This is another $1k repair. It seems as if this is a manufacturer defect.

The informational digital panel that shows how much gas I have left in the tank comes off and on, doesn't come on at all and randomly shows crazy lights all while driving down the road! This has been happening since around 43,000 miles and I'm almost at 100,000 miles. It started right after the first software update on my suv. I reported the problem to my Honda dealer but was told they had never seen it, would just reset the software again. Problem was never fixed after reporting it every time I went for an oil change and even calling and reporting it. With each update, it seemed to get worse as if the attachment that they plugged into my suv was somehow loosening something inside. I know other people have the same problem because I have seen complaints all over the internet!

I own a 2019 Honda HR-V that has been consistently maintained at Honda dealerships, including proactive transmission fluid changes every 30,000–40,000 miles. At approximately 104,700 miles, during a routine maintenance visit, the dealer diagnosed a failing CVT transmission. Technicians identified metal debris in the transmission, indicating internal deterioration. This condition is consistent with Honda Technical Service Bulletin 21-047, which acknowledges CVT-related issues in 2016–2019 HR-V models and provides extended coverage for affected vehicles. However, my vehicle was deemed ineligible for coverage because the failure was identified 27 days after the 7-year in-service deadline. Given that transmission deterioration is progressive, it is likely the issue began within the coverage period. Despite this, Honda declined to provide any goodwill assistance. I was quoted approximately $11,000 for the repair. This issue also raises safety concerns. A failing transmission can result in loss of power, hesitation, or inability to accelerate, particularly when merging into traffic or crossing intersections. These conditions increase the risk of an accident, especially if failure occurs unexpectedly while driving. My drivers seat creeks when I get in and out of the vehicle. Also the drivers seat doesn’t stay elevated over time. I pump the seat up before I enter the vehicle to my desired level that is comfortable for me. However going on long drives the seat slowly goes back down again. The next day would often feel like I am sitting out the floor on the count of the seat goes all the way down all by itself, and without manually adjusting it. I never had a vehicle that did this. It seems the seats are not very good quality and are prone to failure. The drivers and passengers seats are all manual, none are powered in this vehicle.

The forward camera mounted on the windshield failed which means all of the advanced safety features will not work that is a safety hazard when you rely on these systems. Looking on the internet, this seems to be a common problem and is very expensive to fix. There are multiple warning lamps that appear. They are Brake System, Auto High-Beam Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, & Adaptive Cruise Control Problem. I don't understand how there are recalls when the rear camera does not work but not the front camera. They are both safety features.

Started vehicle this morning and part of led digital dash cluster display (odometer, fuel, temperature, trip, miles) goes blank and wouldn't recover. Shut down and restarted and lcd display then had glitches where it wouldn't display correctly, partially incomplete. The instrument panel with the fuel and mileage on it would go black or keep going back and forth to the original car code while I am driving. Next, the screen for my radio would shut down on me and restart itself while I am on the highway. Lastly, when I turn on my exterior lights at night, my interior lights that come on for me to see all the buttons went out for some of the buttons. The safety of myself and others was put at risk because the car could have shut down whenever someone was driving it. I took it to a Honda dealership and they did a diagnostic and the immediate attention result was Internal Electric Failure. But Honda Corporate declined to help me with repair assistance.

2019 Honda HRV with 14,539 miles has been showing on the instrumentation brake failure; this warning only lasts 1/2 to 1 second with a chirp warning . Took to vehicle Honda dealership twice under warranty and could not be replicated. August 2025 took the vehicle to a local repair garage; replaced the two rear caliber motors and the electric power parking brake after the local garage conducted research on this problem on the internet. All replaced equipment are OEM equipment manufactured by Honda Motors. Solve the brake failure warning for 6 months before the brake failure warning appears on the instrumentation counsel.

The contact was not provided with official diagnostic information; however, the dealer informed the contact that the Audio Display Unit had failed and needed to be replaced. The car failed inspection due to rust which had formed at the attachment points where the body is bolted to the chassis. The importance of this location made this rust a severe safety risk. The problem existed on both left and right sides of the vehicle. The fact that water was channeled to these locations with no opportunity for drainage or rust protection is a clear design flaw. The vehicle had only 46,000 miles. Every repair shop I took the car to said "such a young vehicle should not be rusting like this". They all suggested that Honda should be responsible to fix this because the car was poorly designed.

Vehicle experienced critical ignition system failure while parked - the engine would not turn off despite repeated attempts over 20 minutes. The vehicle has a communication failure between the ignition switch and the Body Control Module/Keyless Access Unit, creating a stuck electronic latch circuit (B12D3 latch error). This is consistent with Honda TSB 20-116. The keyless start system warning appeared on the dashboard. Unable to shut down the vehicle through normal means, I was forced to manually pull the fuel pump fuse from the fuse box and then disconnect the battery while the engine was still running. This created an extremely dangerous situation requiring me to work in the engine compartment with live electrical systems. The vehicle lacks proper failsafe shutdown mechanisms. This communication failure and stuck ignition circuit poses serious safety risks including fire hazard, carbon monoxide poisoning if in enclosed space, and electrical system damage. No officially stated emergency stop solutions had worked for this vehicle included the triple press and long press.

The instrument cluster "flickers" due to a bad connection. This cluster contains the odometer, fuel gauge, and other vehicle information. It does not work at all when the outdoor temperature is cold. I took this to my Honda dealer and they state it was a bad connection and I would have to pay to replace the whole cluster for $1800. This is unacceptable and Honda should have to fix this as it is a known problem - this has the potential to cause an accident for someone to run out of gas in busy traffic. And not being able to see the odometer/mileage or oil life indicator is not acceptable. This has been a life of the car problem which has gotten worse and is no longer working no matter the outside temperature.

No warning, etc prior to the lights going on associated with defective camera. This is unethical car sales, price gouging for defective safety feature, and puts driver and others at risk. This is a safety feature of the car and Honda's respsonbility to recall and resolve at no expense to customers. The fuel gauge on the right hand side malfunctions in cold/wet weather, causing information such as distance until empty, to become illegible. I have major peeling paint issues on my 2019 Honda HR-V with white paint. The top of the car ( roof) and in the hatch area.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Fit and 2019-2022 HR-V vehicles. The rearview camera image may not display when the engine is started with a key, due to a design error in the audio display power circuit. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk: An inoperative rearview camera display can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the display audio unit software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 13, 2023. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is 6DW. This recall has been superseded by NHTSA recall number 24V-384. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 23V-046 will need to have the new remedy completed under recall 24V-384.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Acura MDX, 2017-2018 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid, 2018-2019 Honda HR-V and Honda Odyssey, and 2016 Honda HR-V vehicles. The rear brake caliper pistons may have an insufficient coating, causing gas pockets to form, reducing brake performance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk: A reduction of braking performance increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners will be notified, and Honda or Acura dealers will bleed the brakes, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are C31 and L30.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Acura NSX, 2019 Acura RDX, RLX and RLX Sport Hybrid, 2018-2019 Honda Accord, Civic Hatchback, Civic Type R and HR-V, 2019-2020 Insight and 2019 Fit vehicles. The low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.

Risk: If the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners and dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly, free of charge. The recall began July 22, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138.

The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, which can cause the air bags to deploy unintentionally during a crash.

Risk: Air bags that deploy unintentionally during a crash increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 7, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138.
