Backup camera screen went out 2 months after purchasing. I googled and multiple forums including Reddit had 2018 renegade owners reporting the same thing Definitely a safety issue when half the screen is out. Unable to use backup camera as purposed for safe driving It also makes it diffCult and thus unsafe to make selections on the touch screen for radio Bluetooth and other important settings Screens and cameras are supposed to make it safer for drivers. In this case, it is a hazard! It only gets worse the while screen goes out the longer the jeep is in use

Description of the Safety Defect and Incident:Component Malfunction: The radiator cooling fan motor and the low-speed resistor circuit suffered a complete internal electrical failure. The defective part is being removed and is available for inspection upon request.Safety Risk: While idling stationary in live traffic, the vehicle unexpectedly and severely overheated. This created an immediate, dangerous traffic-stall hazard that put my personal safety and the safety of surrounding drivers at risk of a collision.Professional Confirmation: The problem has been fully reproduced, diagnosed, and confirmed by a certified independent service center. Their diagnostic scan tool commands failed, and electronic connector testing proved an open resistor and a faulty, high-resistance motor.Inspections: The vehicle and component have been inspected and verified by the independent service center. No police or insurance representatives were involved as I successfully safely towed the vehicle before a collision occurred.Warning Lamps & Symptoms: There were no symptoms prior to the failure. The problem appeared suddenly while idling. The dashboard cluster flashed an "Engine Coolant Hot" message only after the temperature had already spiked into the red zone because the low-speed fan completely failed to engage. I am writing to report a severe safety defect regarding my 2018 Jeep Renegade. The vehicle suffers from an extreme internal oil consumption defect, burning 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles. According to certified automotive diagnostics, this is five times the normal operating rate. This rapid oil depletion causes the vehicle to abruptly lose power, stall, and completely shut down while driving in active traffic without warning. Sudden engine failure at highway speeds creates an immediate, critical risk of collisions. The vehicle’s history directly matches documented manufacturer issues. The original purchasing dealership notified me that the vehicle was impacted by Customer Satisfaction Notification W80 for abnormal oil consumption. My research also confirmed related under-hood wiring recalls for this model year that cause fuel pressure drops and engine stalling. However, when I presented the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership in Newnan, Georgia, due to repeated stalling, the service department refused recall coverage because my specific VIN was not flagged in their database. They replaced a valve cover gasket instead, but the severe oil depletion and dangerous stalling persisted. A subsequent inspection by an independent licensed automotive shop confirmed the excessive oil burning and determined the engine has suffered fatal internal wear, requiring a complete engine replacement. Because the manufacturer excludes my VIN from the official recall population, they refuse to provide any administrative or financial remedies. However, my vehicle is exhibiting the exact mechanical failures, dangerous stalling, and severe oil consumption targeted by NHTSA’s investigations into the engine. Excluding a vehicle experiencing identical safety failures based solely on an arbitrary VIN window leaves consumers unprotected. The "my sky" sunroof on this vehicle will open but not close. It has been a problem since the vehicle was purchased in 2018. It has been in and out of Central Avenue Chrysler Jeep for repairs. There are two cases with Jeep customer care. The sunroof was supposedly repaired in Octover 2024 but it still never operates properly. Now the sunroof is frozen in the open position. Even the dealership cannot get it to close. This is a safety hazard - I don't know if parts will fly off while driving and it's danagerous to drive a car with an open sunroof in rainy or stormy weather conditions, which are common in New York. If you check online, there are many people reporting similar problems with this particular sunroof.

I was turning into a residenr parking lot and the engine stopped running as I was turning. Fortunately no car was oncming and there was no accident in my case. Could not get my vehicle started. It had to be towed to the local Jeep dealer where they determined the fuel pump failed with just 61k mileage. I was told that the recall was for just vehicles using E85 fuel . But have discussed with other owners of standard fueled vehicles who had similar issues with their vehicles. I hope this is looked into for future safety issues to be resolved.

UConnect screen is out. Started glitching but now it is completely black yet the touch part of it is responsive?? Now if only i could remember EXACTLY where everything is located and in what order.. haha. Not. Also I have no backup camera view, not being able to see what temp my ac/heat is at or which mode it is on. What time is it even? How do i turn on the passenger heated seat for my daughter in the mornings and evenings when the temperature outside is below zero? How do i know where my next turn is when i am driving to a destination with my children and this is the first time i have ever seen, much less been on this road? It sucks!! And my android auto is no longer an option... music?? The safety i could put myself and others in by having to look at and use my phone to change songs, artists, podcasts, make a call or change a gps route... not cool! Also the "fog light" running light on my passenger side does not work at times despite having changed the bulb, wiring, even though the fog light works just fine? And i have often felt like my transmission was slipping when accelerating from stop signs or at other times and that is insane considering the vehicle had less that 50k miles at the time. I want to love my Jeep like i once did yet all this has me questioning whether i would even ever purchase another Jeep. I also feel like my front end is loose and there is a wobbling and have had the mechanic check several times. It doesn't sound safe or feel safe. Yet what is truly most important is that i want and need my current Jeep to last me but all these issues kinda scare me to be honest. I want my screen back!!! I want my light to work at all times! I need my transmission to be wonderful!! I don't even have 95k on my Jeep yet!!! I am praying that submitting this report will help out in some ways.

The left side of the screen displays vertical colored lines, while the remainder of the screen is dark/black and unresponsive. As a result, the backup camera display is no longer visible, and touchscreen functionality is severely limited or unusable. Component or System That Failed The failed component appears to be the infotainment touchscreen/display unit, including the integrated rearview (backup) camera display system. The vehicle and the defective screen are currently available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk This failure created a safety risk because the backup camera is required for safe reversing, especially when pedestrians, children, or objects may be behind the vehicle. About a month ago, I started noticing that my radio was making strange beeping sounds. Of course I’ve got the display, and I immediately noticed that those beeps were being caused by, what looked like an invisible person touching my screen. At first, it just was a nuisance, but quickly escalated to a radio and display screen that is completely unusable. . It didn’t matter whether my phone was Bluetoothed to it or not, it’s a complete mess and won’t stay anywhere for more than a second. Today It interferes with my rear facing camera, not allowing you to turn on Sometimes it does not even come on. I’ve been reading that a lot of Jeep Renegade owners in this 2018 time period are having this problem and, in my opinion, this should be a recall item. Absolutely because to fix it. “go from $1500-$2500.

The UConnect / touch screen display is constantly glitching- I can’t see anything other than striped lines and colors and/or a pitch black screen. I cannot use the rearview camera because of this, which creates a safety concern when backing up/reversing due to limited visibility without the rear view camera function. This problem has occurred with many other owners of the same vehicle (see posts online). The vehicle hasn’t been inspected but others had theirs inspected and claimed they were quoted $1,500+ for the screen repair, and even after repair, the screen malfunctioned again in a few weeks. The first sign of the issue was when I saw a thin, vertical green line through my touch screen, but it didn’t affect the visibility or usability of the screen so I thought nothing of it.

Unknown. Bought a 2018 Jeep Renegade, brand new and about 4-5 months ago, the screen started glitching. My Skylight has never worked properly since we bought my 2018 jeep renegade . It worked very slowly closing in the beginning so they lubricanted it and it worked for maybe a year before it started not fully opening before closing then fully opening and not closing .. Again I was told a lubrication issue But when I confronted that they just done the lubricant last year, they now say the only fix is to totally replace the entire skylight at ungodly cost to me not them.. That’s ridiculous.. I have read so many other owners that are having the same issue and the fact that they have found that there are parts to repair this problem but no one want to do so being the dealership just want to replace the entire skylight after they charge you ungodly cost to tell you they can’t fix it just replace it.. What will it take for Jeep to step up and do these repairs for its owners .. I love my jeep Renegade and hate to have a skylight I paid more to have not work .. I’ve owned my Renegade since June 2019 a gift from my husband. But knowing we paid for something we can’t use without added expenses that they can’t guarantee and want guarantee because they are replacing the entire skylight with another skylight that has the same problem .. I get it.. But we are just asking for Jeep to make repairs to the problem that they are well aware of for years now so we who own and love our Renegade can completely enjoy all the features we paid for..

The contact stated that after his daughter had driven the vehicle, parked, and powered off, 7 hours later, the interior passenger side panel of the door was engulfed in flames, which had by that time blackened the glass. The driver's boyfriend witnessed the flames originating from the glove compartment and attempted to extinguish the fire by hand, which failed but resulted in him sustaining injury to his right hand. The boyfriend was eventually able to extinguish the flames by disconnecting the battery. No warning lights were illuminated. I was driving in traffic and it was bumper to bumper. I had to keep going into first, move a little then stop for several miles. Coming out of the [XXX], heading up the hill, I started to smell burning, the clutch then pinned to the floor and I was stuck in first gear, and the vehicle shut off, not overheating warning, nothing. I was able to start the vehicle after a few moments and then got it t the shoulder, had it towed and I was told the clutch pressure plate was fractured and a whole new transmission would need installed if the flywheel isn't damaged. It wont be serviced until March 28th or 29th and then I will know if a $2500 dollar fix turns into a $5000.00 dollar fix. 54 thousand miles on this and it drove fine in traffic like this before and had no issues with it shifting or anything until this day. They say there is a recall on the Renegade specifically NHTSA20V-124 involving renegades with 6 speed manual transmissions. I couldn't get any help from Chrysler, the recall information center but this information is out on the web. Next is lemon law attorney. The driver seat belt buckle malfunctioned, the clip will not stay in no matter what. The dealership said the part isn’t available anywhere and is on endless back order without an ETA. As well as they are unsure of what parts are needed as there is an electrical part they confused if it’s needed that is also unavailable anywhere. The jeep/chrysler company itself has also been no help, it has been 3 weeks. I keep getting told the same thing and to “be patient” and that this is not a safety recall, even though the part isn’t available anywhere. The dealership confirmed its malfunction. My safety/risk factor and ability to drive has now been severely impacted as It is illegal and dangerous to drive without a seatbelt, I have not been offered any help or coverage, and I have a newborn baby! There was no forewarning or symptoms of failure beforehand. This has been sudden and infuriating.

Truck sputter to start or does not start at all. When I put fuel in my car it doesn't start for two days. Mechanic believes it's fuel system but couldn't be sure since there weren't any codes throwing from his diagnostic machine

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine is consuming excessive amount of oil. Specifically, I had an oil change in December 2024 and now in March 2025 I had to add to add 2 quarts and it's just been 3 months and under 1000 miles since the last oil change. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The low oil cause the car to stall sometimes when in a curve and also displays warning on dash to put car in park and restart engine. This is very dangers as we sometimes get stuck in the middle of the road until the car is restarted. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I have taken it to the Jeep dealership about 2 years ago for this issue, but they claimed it's normal to have to add oil in between oil changes. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? A warning lamp comes on while driving that says to put the car in park and restart the engine. This issue has been occurring on a daily basis. From my research online, it appears this is a known issue with these engines and should have a recall.

The entire radio system begins to get white ghost lines which affects the rear back-up camera and rear safety systems, and it also affects the parking brakes when the vehicle is in park or stopped. The use of the radio system is required to do basic maintenance on the vehicle such as brake changes.

The screen started to glitch out for periods at a time. Now it is just black and nothing works on it now, including the backup camera (safety issue). The seat warmers and steering wheel warmer is on but now there’s no way to turn them off. The amount of people that complain of the same issues online is insane, this needs to be recalled.

I went to get a light fixed (Driver Side fog light) and the bulb had blown up and completely melted the housing. I searched the internet and it is on the Jeep site as extremely common. I just purchased this car. I can't afford $650 to fix the melted housing. The guy that tried to change it at the shop said it was a complaint he has heard before.

the dash board light comes on and turns off and this drains the battery, tried to start vehicle 2X to revive it and disconnected the display battery cord so the battery doen't turn on the display. Battery has been replaced new but screen is not working. Dealership has done diagnostics and radio replacement recommended

Driving on the highway car was starting to loose speed, lights on dash starting to flash I was able to pull off on the side of the road, car stalled and steering wheel locked up. After several minutes it turned on and drove away fine. This is not the first time this has happened. Did oil consumption test several times and stated I’m in the safe zone. This is a severe safety issue but no recalls for my VIN. I saw lots of cars have this same issue with engine stalling.

My Jeep has stalled while driving 3 times. It has been happening about once each year. The center console no long works. The screen just turned off one day and has never turned back on. Now it will not start. At first the dash turned on with all lights, would not start would not turn off break locked. Then the dash started flashing and the slowly diming until it no longer work. Then the RPM and MPH startes going up and down then the car died off. There is a recall for Jeep renegade that seems to reflect what it happening but the vin search states no recalls. I now only now don't have a car that I'm still paying on but someone could have been hurt. When this initially started I did check for recalls, and as I just did again. I can't get it anywhere to be looked at.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Renegade, Compass and Grand Cherokee, RAM 1500 and Promaster, Fiat 500x, Dodge Journey, Challenger, Charger and Durango and Chrysler 300x vehicles, 2017-2018 Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country vehicles and 2018-2019 Jeep Cherokee and 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid vehicles. The powertrain control module may be equipped with a voltage regulator chip in the circuit board that may fail, causing a stall or a no start condition.

Risk: A vehicle stall can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began October 2, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U87.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Jeep Renegade 4X2 flex fuel/E85 vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine. In certain operating conditions such as high power demand in conjunction with high altitude and/or high ambient temperatures, a manufacturing error in the fuel pump assembly may result in a loss of fuel pressure.

Risk: A loss of fuel pressure can cause a stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began April 26, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is UB2.
