While barely moving, (about 2 mph), in a parking lot & preparing to make a sharp left turn, knuckle of driver's side wheel assembly suddenly broke, causing the wheel assembly to collapse, wheel top tilted inward and bottom tilted outward, causing major damage to upper and lower control arms, tie rod and significant body damage to two body parts at the wheel opening. Mechanic reported that there had been very excessive ‘play’ before the collapse At 86,000 miles, this is a very low-mileage for this degree of wear and complete failure, on a full-size, PPV SUV, with many heavy-duty features, designed to tolerate high stress usage. FORTUATELY, the car was barely rolling. If this had happened 5 minutes later, I would have been driving 65 mph and this would have caused a catastrophic wreck, could have involved several other cars, and could have injured or even killed many people. I am now very concerned about the condition of the knuckle on the passenger side. It could be developing microscopic cracks that would only be observable with X-ray. ESPECIALLY with this defect being on a very popular police model, Highway Patrol PPV vehicle, more failures will endanger many people.

The vehicle was involved in a "T-Bone" collision where two vehicles drove into the driver side of my vehicle. I was not at fault and yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. In February of 2022 I took the vehicle to Felix Chevrolet to have the airbag recall repaired. In late January 2023, the "T-Bone" collision occurred. My elderly mother (front passenger) and my two sons (13 and 14 rear passengers) were also in the vehicle. ZERO airbags deployed in my vehicle. The vehicle has been parked at my residence since the incident. The vehicle or component has NOT been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others since the incident. I noticed the dash cracking after the recall was performed in 2022. I contacted Felix Chevrolet and spoke the Asst Manager Sergio who told me that GM is NOT replacing the cracked dash boards and if I could take a photo and text it to him--which I did.

Developed cracks in dash starting in 2018 and progressively got worse. Rattles when you drive. Driver door pull has also broken in several places and has pinched my hand multiple times. Dealer is aware this is a common problem but will need to replace whole door panel and dash at my expense. Transmission went at 81,000. Chevy, you can do better. I was warned not to buy this, but I took my chances. It feels very lemony sour now.

We took our vehicle to the Chevrolet dealer: Don Mealey Chevrolet 17185 State Road 50 Clermont, Fl. 34711 (352)394-6176. They said they would not replace the defective air bag part unless we agreed that they would destroy our dash by completing the recalled part replacement. We purchased the vehicle brand new and have taken excellent care of it and the dash is in excellent condition, how can they refuse to do the required FREE recall unless we agree that if they destroy our dash. MY VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT, SO I KNOW THE HEAT FROM THE SUN DID NOT CAUSE MY DASH TO CRACK IN 3 SEPARATE PLACES. ABOUT A MONTH AGO I RECEIVED A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE DUE TO FAULTY AIRBAGS. MY DASH IS CRACKED AND BROKEN TO THE POINT IT MAY COLLAPSE IN THE MIDDLE. THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT OTHER CRACKS WOULD FORM OVER TIME BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT IS HAPPENING TO OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS WITH THIS SAME VEHICLE. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY WERE CORRECT. I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANYTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. THEY COULD REPLACE IT BUT THEN SAID, THAT GMC SHOULD REALLY STEP UP AND MAKE THIS A RECALL. AS I RESEARCH THIS ONLINE, I FOUND WHERE THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE 2012 GMC TAHOE. THIS IS HAZARD TO ANYONE THAT IS IN THE CAR. ACCORDING TO THE EXPERTS AT MY DEALERSHIP, THE CRACK AT THE AIRBAG COULD GET CUT OR MESS IT UP FROM DEPLOYING. PLUS IF I WAS TO GET INTO A WRECK THE PIECES COULD EASILY BREAK OFF AND CAUSE MORE PHYSICAL HARM. WE HAVE SPENT A LOT ON BUYING THIS TOP OF THE LINE 2012 GMC LTZ TAHOE. WE UNDERSTAND THAT OVER TIME DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE VEHICLE WILL NEED TO BE REPLACE LIKE RUBBER SEALS AROUND THE DOOR, DOOR HANDLES & OTHER THINGS THAT COME WITH NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. HOWEVER, REPLACING A DASHBOARD SHOULD NOT BE ON THIS LIST. ESPECIALLY WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING TO THOUSANDS OF OTHER VEHICLES. THE CRACKS ARE HAPPENING IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT IN BOTH PLACES. THE CRACKS ARE GETTING WORSE. I REALLY WOULD HOPE THAT GMC WOULD STEP UP & DO THE RIGHT THING TO PLACE A RECALL ON THE DASHBOARD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED. IF THEY CARE ABOUT PEOPLES LIVES, THERE SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN ON OCCASION. INTERIOR LIGHTS, RADIO, DASH PANEL, TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. ALSO DOOR LOCKS, LOCK AND UNLOCK. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. LAST YEAR I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS REPAIRED AFTER I WAS NEARLY HIT AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHEN THIS OCCURRED. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2012 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Silverado 2500/3500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Sierra 2500/3500, Yukon, and Yukon XL originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands or "Zone A." These vehicles are equipped with non-desiccated passenger frontal inflators containing phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Risk: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator with an alternate one, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on February 22, 2021. Second notification letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 11, 2021. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado HD, Silverado LD, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra LD, Sierra HD, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the ignition lock actuator may bind, making turning the key difficult or causing the ignition to get stuck in the "Start" position.

Risk: If stuck in the "Start" position, the ignition may suddenly snap back into the "Accessory" position, causing a loss of engine, steering, and braking power, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. If the vehicle is in a crash, the air bags may not deploy, increasing the risk of occupant injury.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the ignition lock housing, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on February 12, 2015. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC).
