2022 Chevrolet Equinox

Traveling far from home, car suddenly made a rattling noise and engine shut down. Pulled over for a tow. After 2 weeks in a shop, it was determined the fuel pump was defective causing the camshaft to break. Our VIN is not under the recall but the damage was massive. GM refused to admit to pump failure / camshaft defect. Took parts to be inspected also to the dealership and they confirmed. There were no warnings. We were on a major highway traveling at 70 mph when this happened, yes this was a dangerous situation to be in. GM refused to listen to my case that I filed as I stated we have the "right to repair" and took it to the nearest shop. They closed my case with no opportunity to move forward in the customer service world. We had to pay 4900.00 for repair, 214.00 to tow, 1700.00 for a rental car and all they offered were 1000 GM point that converted to 10.00.

Known issue of arabic language reset on engine start with this make/model infotainment system. (TSB 23-NA-118 / 23-NA-042). While driving vehicle during afternoon traffic, the vehicle started to sputter then die in the middle of the road, I tried restarting the vehicle, it would crank but would not start. I pushed the vehicle off the road and called a wrecker. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership for repair. After two days, they informed me that the fuel pump control module failed and would have to be replaced for approximately $600 I had no choice but to ok the charges, I spoke to the service manager because this part should be covered under the vehicle emissions warranty, but they said no, I did some further checking and it appears this part was a recall item! While operating our vehicle on traveling at approx. 45 mph during mid-day traffic, the engine on our vehicle died and would not restart. we had no power steering and had to wrestle the vehicle off the road The check engine light was on and we tried repeatedly to restart the engine without any luck. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership for diagnosis and repair, it was determined that a Fuel Pump Power Control Module had failed and that it would cost $599. to repair. We approved the repairs and then approached GM for reimbursement after discovering that this same part was recalled by GM Ref # N252516900 which covered the make, model and year of our vehicle. We contacted GM customer relations and after speaking with them multiple times they approved a partial adjustment on the bill for approximately $150. I explained that according to their campaign notice and ongoing issues with this component we wanted a full refund and would not accept a partial payment of 1/3 our cost. GM refuses to stand behind their product even though our vehicle only has 27,500 miles. I spoke with the service manager at the dealership, and he suggested I contact GM customer service and they should resolve the problem since this was an ongoing issue.

The Fuel pump module was a recall under N222372310 - Safety Recall in 2023. This recall was complete by a dealership. The recall fuel pump module assembly It was replace July 2023 with part number Fuel Pump Module 84782007. On April 13, 2026 (33 months later) the car would not start, if it did start it was stall and die. When it also run rough if it would start, then die again. I had to have the car towed to the dealership. The dealership said the fuel pump module was out AGAIN! The exact same problem the first recall was suppose to correct did not solve the problem. At this time there is not a new recall on this matter. The part that replaced the original fuel pump module did not solve the problem. The replacement part appears faulty as well. Had my car ben in traffic or on the highway it is possible I would have lost all power to the car which could have resulted in crash.

While driving on the freeway at approximately 75 MPH my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox lost power, the engine stalled, and I was forced to pull over into a construction zone. The engine would not restart and the check engine indicator was on. OnStar messaged me via email that a fault P129F was detected. I had the vehicle towed to my home where I performed some additional diagnostics and determined that while similar to Product Safety Recall N222372310 Inadequate Fuel Pump Flow, the issue was not with the fuel pump but with the fuel pump controller module mounted under the vehicle. I replace the module with an official GM replacement module part number 13554821 which resolved the issue with the fuel system in my vehicle. I still have the faulty fuel pump controller module in my possession (see attached picture).

The vehicle's fuel pump failed. Like many 2022 Chevy Equinoxes, ours has a fuel pump that failed while on a road trip 10 hours from home. However, ours was also not part of the recall batch for failing fuel pumps. There were no warning lights or lamps or other signs, and at 27,000 miles, we would never expect for our fuel pump to fail. It seems quite clear that this is part of the overall failure of 2022 Chevy Equinox fuel pumps, and this batch should be included in the recall.

Codes p2227 and code p0299 are coming up machine says this is a known issue with 2021 to 2023 Chevy equinox and there is a lot of water in intake and engine is in limp mode 1.5L engine, are known to experience issues with moisture accumulation in the intake system, specifically within the charge air cooler (CAC). In cold temperatures, this moisture can freeze, causing reduced engine power, stalling, and illuminated check engine lights (DTCs P0299, P2227, P0300). Key Details Regarding the Problem: Cause: Moisture from the PCV system and ambient humidity builds up in the CAC, which can freeze during cold weather. Affected Models: 2018-2022 Chevy Equinox and other GM vehicles with small-displacement turbocharged engines. Symptoms: Reduced power, stalling, rough idle, and engine light in cold, humid, or snowy conditions. I would like for the vin number check to be expanded if my car is experiencing this issue under a vin that is not coming up for recalls or a factory warranty then other People are having the same issues.

Engine stalled possibly due to a faulty fuel pump. I was able to drive the vehicle without issue until I pulled up to my house, when the engine stalled. No warning signs prior to the incident. Proceeded to put the vehicle in park and start the engine again. The engine had trouble starting again, sputtering even when the gas pedal was pressed (no response to the gas pedal). Vehicle unexpectedly stalled 10/5/2024 while driving at 45 mph on a highway. It would not restart. We were able to get to the side of the road and call for a tow truck. It was towed to the dealer where we purchased. It sat in the parking lot for a few days and they were able to restart it. The dealer could not find anything wrong. On 12/19/2025 the vehicle again unexpectedly stalled doing 50 mph on a three lane highway. It would not start. With a lot of beeping and cutting off upset drivers we were able to get the car off the road. We again had it towed to the dealer where we bought it new. They found there was a faulty fuel pump driver module. They replaced the module and we picked up and paid $386.62. It seems to be running fine now, but found this issue is a recall for many equinoxes with the same car years but my vin is not listed in the recall. I also see the replacement modules are being recalled. This is a dangerous situation for myself, my family, passengers and others on the road. This vehicle dies with no warning. No lights go on. It just plain stops running. No one should have to pay for this repair no matter the vin. Note this equinox has less than 60,000 miles on it.

The 1st time my 2022 Equinox broke down was July 1st 2025 approximately 3+ miles from my house turned left at intersection (stop sign) approximately 50 yards. All sudden engine lost power (engine was still running) till it stopped running. (At that time I was thinking it ran out of gas. I know I had plenty of gas). No advance warning. No idiot lights came on, not even the check engine either. I was driving approximately 35-40 mph. No power steering. I got the car off the road about one foot. so, I called a tow truck & I waited approximately 45 minutes. Was towed the nearest GM dealership & that costed $144.00. On July 9 2025 I got my car back. The service manager (person) told me the fuel pump control module shorted out. The 2nd time my 2022 Equinox LT broke down was on August 23 2025 Pulled out of garage than engine started idling rough then it stopped running. I tried to start it again was very hard to start. I drove it approximately 50 feet & the engine stopped running again. I got it to start & back it off the street & in to garage. Waited till 8/25/2025 baby it to Buick/GMC dealership. Too many problems with car. AC stopped working. Told cylinders bad. Needs New engine. Still in the shop as of November 17 2025. I have GMC Customer Service involved in this since July 1 2025. GMC hasn't reimburse me the $144.00 for towing charge.

My vehicle was not able to use the Onstar properly and after researching numerous complaints I guess a faulty or bad Onstar module is a common issue among gm owner especially within the first 12 months of owning the vehicle. Why is this problem not being recalled or compensated to the hundreds of individuals paying out of pocket for this malfunction which is close to $1000? Why is the module dying or breaking so easy and in such short period of time. This is hazardous to my family because my disabled child can make driving scary some days. Not knowing I have the emergency onstar button available, or knowing where I am in case of an emergency is a severe issue for me hence why I purchased a new vehicle and made purchasing onstar services a priority for my family. Also the WiFi feature helps my child to communicate with me and tell me any issues since she is non verbal and needs her device. Also not being able to use the app to lock the vehicle in case I forgot is a safety concern to me because sometimes I need to know I locked the car or that I know where the car is at all times. This onstar working or module mishap needs to be fixed and stop unconvincing people’s lives and those they love. People who are forced to fix this issue of the onstar not even getting a signal or being able to call onstar is dangerous! This who feel protected by the services and willing to purchase a vehicle just because of this should not have to pay up to $1000 to fix this issue especially in the first year! I can’t believe the amount of people who affected by this companies faults and carelessness. A recall needs to be put in affect and the modules/wiring need to be reinforced and installed more properly.

My 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, with just 72,000 miles, experienced a sudden and catastrophic transmission failure caused by a faulty transmission line clamp that broke, resulting in a rapid loss of transmission fluid while I was driving. I was able to pull over to safety, but was on the interstate going 75mph when my speed and vehicle power rapidly reduced. The vehicles around me were able to rapidly to respond, changing lanes and avoiding my rapidly slowing vehicle, but had they not had such quick responsiveness, there could have been a very serious collision. This unexpected failure destroyed the transmission and left me stranded. CAR STOPS WITHOUT NOTICE IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. I WOULD LIKE TO NOTIFY CHEV. THAT MORE INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE MADE ON THIS PROBLEM. WE WERE ONLY MINUTES FROM GETTING ON I 75 N IN ATLANTA TRAFFIC AND THE CAR STOPS DEAD STILL IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. Had it replaced and 2 weeks later the check engine light came on and same diagnostic code came up for the fuel pump module. (had just been replaced). Took to dealership again and they replaced the module again stating it could be a faulty part. Now again 3 weeks later the check engine light is on again. Same diagnostic code came up again stating it is the fuel pump module. Car is currently at the dealership for the third time in 6 weeks for the same issue. Thankfully there has been no personal injury involved but the car stopping while driving on a Highway is very dangerous and scary. The infotainment center failed completely and does not power on. Because of this failure, I cannot see the front, rear, or side cameras, and there are no audible warning sounds for parking, lane safety, or seat belt alerts. Car would not turn over only grinning noise. Stranded in parking lot. Had to have car towed to dealer. They replaced the fuel pump. The car would not start again 2 days later. I was stranded again. I kept trying and it finally started. It stopped intraffic just died on the way home. Before help came I got it started and made it home. I had it towed to the dealer again. This time they said it is the fuel pump modular. The fuel pump cost me $1300.00 and norw the charge will be $400.00. SOME 2022 Equinox were recalled but mine was not included. On July 23, 2025 My Equinox quit running as I was pulling out into an intersection. After several attempts to restart with no success I called my roadside assistance provider and had the Equinox towed to a repair facility. After diagnostics on July 24, 2025 it was determined that the Fuel Pump Control Module had failed. The Module was replaced and reprogrammed. After the repair was completed it was brought to my attention that there was a recall issued on "some" 2022 Equinox 's but not all 2022 Equinox 's. My VIN was not included in the recall but suffered the same failure as the recalled units. No warning lights or symptoms prior to the failure. This continues to be a safety issue because without warning the vehicles just stop running. The Equinox had 45,939 miles on the odometer at the time of the failure. This in a know safety issue and GM should have included all 2022 Equinox 's or at least a broader range of VINs in the initial recall.

Driving down the interstate my 2022 chevrolet equinox LT lost all propulsion and shut off. I was able to get pulled over to the side of the road had to have my vehicle towed. We were in our pharmacy drive thru pick up lane when our car suddenly died, and would not restart. No engine light came on prior. We waited three hours for our tow truck in 99 degree weather to take it to the nearest dealership. Had the fuel pump power control module and also the fuel tank fuel pump module replaced. Now back at dealership, as the fuel gauge is being repaired. Our car evidently didn't show up as needing the fuel pump module recalled. $2000 later, I wonder why not?

I was driving on the highway at a fast speed 75+ miles per hour. I was in the left lane. My car turned off and there was no acceleration. It was not getting fuel. I was able to make it to the right lane and merge off the highway before it stopped moving by momentum alone. Cars had to slow down and go around me almost causing an accident. It is not okay to let people drive around in an unsafe manner when, now I found that this is a common problem. Having an accident on I-95 is no joke. It could have cost me my life.

On August 16, 2025, my 2022 Chevy Equinox experience an engine stall while I was driving with no warning, no prior check engine light. This was very scary for my own safety but more importantly my child’s safety who was in the back seat. Had I not been able to move my car to the side of the road or had we been on one of Atlanta’s major interstates this could have been a fatal accident for the both of us. I immediately took my car to the dealership where I purchased this car brand new off the truck and have had it serviced ever since. Not only did I take it, I took it there with a recall notice (N222372310) for 21-22 Chevy Equinox experience engine stalls due to a faulty fuel pump module. The dealership informed me that this recall “did not apply” to my VIN. And I had to place it under my warranty and pay my $200 deductible for them to diagnose that in fact my fuel pump module was bad and needed to be replaced, nothing else.

We where driving to do some errands I noticed the engine light came on. Then the engine cut off. Took it to a garrage near by they did a scan said it is my fuel pump. While driving my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, the car suddenly stalled on a city road. This occurred in a busy area with multiple stops and traffic signals. I was accelerating after a stop when the engine cut off abruptly, without any prior warning lights or error messages. I was able to coast to a safe stop, but the incident was frightening and dangerous. The vehicle was towed to a dealership and inspected. They diagnosed the issue as a failure of the Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM). The part was not covered under my powertrain warranty despite being essential to the operation of the vehicle. The dealer confirmed this failure and replaced the part. The total repair cost was $592. When I attempted to check my eligibility for the NHTSA Campaign Number 23V013000 (regarding a fuel pump defect that may cause stalling for same 2022 Chevrolet Equinox), my VIN was reported as not currently eligible, even though the issue I experienced matches the recall description. The vehicle has since been repaired and has been operating fine, while I didn’t experience any stalling, I’ve noticed the gear shifts more closely now — they feel very quick or more noticeable than before, but no warning lights have appeared. I am filing this complaint to formally document the safety issue I experienced and to request a review of my VIN in light of the recall. A sudden stall on a city road puts drivers and passengers at significant risk, and I believe this is a serious safety concern that should be investigated.

The four rear-seat lower child seat LATCH anchorage bars may have excessive powder coating, which could prevent a child seat from being installed with the anchorage bars. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 225, "Child Restraint Anchorage Systems."

Risk: The inability to install a child seat with the LATCH anchorage bars could result in an unsecured child seat, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy: Owners are advised to install child seats using the vehicle's rear seat belts until the remedy is complete.
