I am reporting a severe safety hazard on my 2025 Toyota Tacoma caused by incorrect alignment specs and an uncorrected extreme toe setting. On a recent service visit, alignment inspection showed a Total Toe of +1.62 degrees (OEM target is approximately +0.10 degrees). The alignment machine database loaded incorrect tolerance specs (+1.37 to +1.87 degrees displayed as acceptable green range), leading technicians to leave the extreme toe-in completely unadjusted. In less than 2,000 miles of normal driving since a prior inspection, both front tires suffered extreme, rapid toe wear down to the internal cord layer. Operating a vehicle with +1.62 degrees total toe causes severe lateral tire drag and creates an imminent threat of a catastrophic tire blowout at highway speeds, presenting a significant vehicle safety defect.

Driver side front and passenger door handle broke internally. The door is unable to be opened from the inside. This puts occupants at risk of not being able to exit the veichle in an emergency or safely from the inside. The problem was fixed for the front after several weeks due to back order of the part. Per my service representative at Toyota, it was a safety concern so they paid for a rental while they waited for the part and repaired the veichle. The mechanism broke without warning and suddenly after normal expected use.

2025 Toyota Tacoma SR5 - 8038 Miles The passenger on the right rear side tried to exit the 2025 SR5 Toyota Tacoma, and the interior door handle would not engage. It was confirmed with the Toyota dealership: PERFORMED INSPECTION AND VERIFIED R/R INNER DOOR HANDLE IS INOPERATIVE. FOUND THE INTERNAL RETURN SPRINGS DISENGAGED FROM THEIR RETENTION POINTS AND HAVE LOST PROPER TENSION DUE TO INSUFFICIENT SPRING RETENTION/IMPROPER FACTORY FITMENT. CONDITION IS CONSISTENT WITH COMPONENT MATERIAL FATIGUE AND RETAINER DESIGN FAILURE, RESULTING IN LOSS OF HANDLE RETURN FUNCTION AND LATCH ACTUATION. RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT OF R/R INNER DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY TO RESTORE PROPER OPERATION. The part is on back order due to this being a constant issue. They have informed me that they are not sure when they will have the part. They told me that there are even customers who have been waiting for over a month so far. Driving around with the inability to open the doors from the inside is a trap hazard! Based on multiple complaints and reports, Toyota should issue a recall for these vehicles.

The interior driver-side door handle/release mechanism on my 2025 SR5 Toyota Tacoma failed without warning. The vehicle has low mileage and was being used normally. When attempting to open the driver door from the inside using ordinary force, an internal component appears to have detached or broken, leaving the interior handle completely inoperative. The handle simply hangs loose. Vehicle and failed component are available for inspection. This defect creates a significant safety risk because I cannot exit the vehicle through the driver door from inside the cabin. The only way to exit is to roll down the window, reach backward, and pull the exterior door handle. This requires an awkward twisting motion and causes shoulder pain. In an emergency such as a crash, fire, or water intrusion event, my ability to quickly exit the vehicle could be compromised. The defect also affects my ability to care for my young son, who has a medical condition and may require immediate assistance or rescue medication. If an emergency occurred while driving, I could be delayed in reaching him because I cannot promptly exit through the driver door as designed. A Toyota dealership inspected the vehicle and confirmed the failed interior door handle mechanism. However, the replacement part is on national backorder and unavailable. I was informed repairs will likely take more than a month and that the waiting list reportedly exceeds 2,000 vehicles. Numerous Tacoma owners have reported the same failure, suggesting a widespread defect. Despite reports of widespread failures and lengthy repair delays, there has been no recall, service campaign, or proactive communication from Toyota warning owners of the defect or providing guidance while awaiting repairs. There were no warning lights, messages, or advance symptoms before the failure. The handle functioned normally until it suddenly stopped working during routine use. The defect occurred without misuse, excessive force, collision, or damage.

The driver side inner door handle does not work. This is a huge safety issue because you can only open the door by rolling down the window and pulling the outer driver side door handle. I took the truck to the dealer and the part to fix it is on back order with no known date when they will get it. I am now forced to drive an un safe vehicle for who knows how long. This is a common issue with the 2024-2025 Tacomas and needs addressed.

Both the front passenger and front driver's side doors will not open from the inside. First, the passenger side door handle became defective (I took it to the Toyota dealer and they said the interior handle assembly broke where the cable connects to the handle). The part is back ordered in the thousands. Then about a month later, the same thing happened to the driver's side door. That part is also back ordered in the thousands. Now, I am unable to open either front door from the inside - an obvious safety concern - being trapped in the car in the event of an accident. And this truck is a 2025 year with 8,800 miles on it. Toyota has provided no ETA for the new parts. A basic search online for the same issue has returned hundreds of similar stories for the same model truck. I have spoken to Toyota Corporate and they have not provided me with any sort of fix or ETA, other than to get in line and wait for the back ordered parts

My father and I both purchased a 2025 Toyota Tacoma SR5 2WD double cab last year brand new from different dealerships, both were in FL. My father was driving his new Tacoma with adaptive cruise control engaged, this was on an interstate, and the vehicle in front of him moved to the left lane next to him and started braking and this caused his vehicle to start braking extremely hard with no vehicles in front of him (he was driving about 55mph when this happened). He said this has happened to him before. I was in the vehicle with him when this happened. When I was driving from his home in GA a few days later, back to my home in FL, I was on the interstate ([XXX]) with the adaptive cruise control engaged and the exact same thing happened with my truck. A semi truck in front of me moved into the lane to the right and started braking. This caused my vehicle to start braking extremely hard with no vehicles in front of me. Had a vehicle been behind me, this could have caused me to be rear-ended going about 70mph. The sudden automatic braking with NO vehicles in front of you is aggressive enough to cause a rear-end collision and possibly cause the driver to make a startled, impulsive, corrective mistake to the sudden aggressive braking. Problem has not been confirmed or reproduced. Neither my father's or my vehicle has been inspected for this issue. Im betting its a software issue. Service advisor stated backlog is large and no time estimate can be given when the repair can be made. This can result in entrapment in an accident if side windows lose power to roll down if capable of opening door from, or crawl in rear and exit through rear doors if child locks are not engaged. The contact stated that while driving in the rain, when passing another vehicle, the vehicle began shuddering and experienced a loss of power. The check engine light illuminated and multiple other warning indicators. The vehicle pulled over to the vehicle was stopped and eventually restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer were it was diagnosed with an air intake failure. Shortly after, the vehicle experienced the same issue. Again and was returned to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed with a turbo mud and water found inside the air intake, water is covering the filter and there was no additional repairs that could be completed so the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 19,600.

In October of 2025 I was notified of a safety based recall for my 2025 Tacoma related to the front axle shafts possibly breaking which could cause loss of steering control should an incident occur. The recall is listed as 25TA11, (Interim notice 25TB11) and is attached to NHTSA ID 25V656. As of May 6th, Toyota lists this situation as still preparing the remedy. If the situation is truly a safety concern, I believe the length of time Toyota is taking to provide the remedy is unacceptable. I would like to politely suggest that Toyota have pressure put on them to provide the proper remedy in an actual timely manner for something that can cause loss of control or a rolling vehicle in the 'Limited' trim models.

Less than 5000 miles - seat popping and cracking noise. If you look it up online, a lot of the 4th Gen Tacomas are doing this but when you take it to a dealership they say that is normal. It feels like the seat will break and moves around alot but Toyota will not acknowledge the issue at the dealership and has no fix. Seems unsafe.

My 2025 Toyota Tacoma engaged the emergency braking/pre-collision system system while my vehicle was going under 10 mph on a steep road in winter conditions. My vehicle was completely under control before the system engaged and there was no risk of a collision with any vehicles in front of me. The emergency braking system engaged and rendered my vehicle completely out of control. I tried desperately to pump the brakes in hopes I could regain control of the vehicle, but the brakes were fully locked. Had the brakes dis-engaged, I could have easily avoided the collision. The car not only did not decelerate, it accelerated down the hill while the brakes were locked for several seconds. My vehicle eventually slid into another vehicle that had been parked on the side of the road. From doing extensive research I believe a perfect storm of events caused this malfunction. Previously on this day, several inches of snow had fallen. The road had not been plowed and cars were parked on the side of the road. There was also a curve in the road near my vehicle's collision where the other vehicle was parked. My windshield was also still defrosting in the uppermost section near the rear view mirror. It is also possible the radar block on the front of the vehicle had snow or ice on it. It was also actively snowing. From what I have read, any of the above factors can cause a malfunction in the emergency braking pre-collision system. I had never been in an accident in over 20 years of driving and my vehicle did the least safe maneuver it could have in the given situation. There is no circumstance where one would purposefully slam the brakes on a snowy/icy down hill road if they know how to drive in the snow (even if you were going under 10mph as I was). At the most basic level of failure, I can't imagine this system should ever engage if going as slow as I was. Also, the system is designed to decelerate (was accelerating) and I was pumping brakes in effort to disengage

My rear backseat driver’s side door handle broke on March 16th, 2026. I either have to roll down the window and open the door from the outside or I have to let passengers out from exiting from the front seat. I took it in for inspection by the dealer, West Kendall Toyota on March 17th, 2026. They had to order a new part. They tried repairing it on March 31, 2026 but failed to do so and had to reorder the part. It is still broken as of today April 1st, 2026. My front seat driver’s side door handle also broke in August of 2025 and I could only get out through opening the window and unlatching the door from the outside door handle. This is a serious safety issue as passengers could become trapped should the car be hit on the other side and if even more so if the power goes out on the car. I feel Toyota is not doing enough to fix the issue and is not making a quick effort to repair this and is showing a lack of concern for consumer safety.

Due to my husband driving the vehicle, ISP states it looks like he crossed into an oncoming semi-chip truck trailer, causing a fatal accident and killing him instantly. The 2025 Toyota Tacoma's Safety Sense obviously failed since my husband is now dead. We had the 2025 Tacoma in the prior week due to my complaints that the lane assist was not working properly and the screen did not respond to my touch to turn it on. After the fatal accident, ISP removed the black box to download information for the accident report. I am now waiting for isp report. No jaws of life was used to extract husband they didn't need it Tacoma metal already peeled back like a tuna can.

My 2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro (VIN [XXX] , purchased from Delaney Toyota, DuBois PA) exhibited a recurring Smart Key and door lock malfunction beginning in late October/early November 2025 and continuing through the date the vehicle was traded in February 2026 with the defect unresolved. Symptoms observed: Doors locking autonomously on exit, sometimes before occupants could exit the vehicle System falsely detecting the key fob as being inside the vehicle when it was in the owner's pocket outside, causing the truck to refuse to lock Touch-lock refusal at the door handle Random unprompted beeps while parked and locked with no corresponding lock movement Key card unable to lock the vehicle Dealership witness: During a January 2026 service visit, Delaney Toyota Service Advisor Ricky Carlson was personally locked inside the vehicle by this malfunction before he could exit. This was witnessed firsthand by a trained Toyota service employee and is part of the service history, though it was not captured in the official repair order. MY 2025 TACOMA is part of a recall by Toyota, I was notified of the potential issue on early November 2025 and told Toyota was working on a remedy. On December 3rd, 2025 while using 4-wheel drive during a snow storm the drive shaft (recall issue) broke. On December 4th, 2025, the local Toyota dealer checked my Tacoma and found it unsafe to drive - they kept my Tacoma and provided a loaner vehicle. Toyota reported at this time the remedy would be available by the end of 4th quarter (December). As of today, February 21, 2026 -- there is still no remedy for the issue, my Tacoma is still sitting at the dealer, and I do not have my truck. Toyota reports a remedy will be available during the 1st quarter of the year but nothing yet. I called brand engagement recently and asked them to extend my warranty, Toyota care, and other free trials that were included with my purchase. However, Toyota refuses to do anything further - as they said a loaner car is enough - to make the issue more acceptable even though my new vehicle is losing this coverage.

Driving up the 15 freeway from Diamond bar CA to Victorville CA the car gave me a warning that the transmission is overheating and to pull over to cool it down keep in mind I was on a paved freeway with no trailer and nothing in the bed of the truck so no unusual weight so with the car being brand new (only 1500 miles) I played it safe and pulled to the side of the freeway for about 15 minutes to allow for cooling then the sign went away and it was driving normal. A few days later I took the car into the shop for transmission, hard shift issue and I had them look at the overheating as well and they found an overheating was caused from “harsh acceleration” i’ve had many cars and no car has ever had a transmission overheating light come on unless if I was on the track or off roading I went up to Victorville again the following weekend and the overheating light came on again but the dealership is saying it’s normal but going up a paid freeway and having to stop on the side of the road to let the transmission cool down is not safe

The contact owned a 2025 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH, a Semi Truck attempting to merge onto the highway crashed into the passenger side of the vehicle, causing the driver to lose control of the steering and cross three lanes of traffic before crashing into the concrete median. During the crash, no air bags in the vehicle deployed, the collision avoidance systems did not operate, and twelve error messages were activated, including a brake error, a Four Wheel Drive error, and an ABS error. The driver sustained a concussion from the head contacting the steering wheel and lacerations from shards of glass entering the vehicle during the crash. The front seat passenger sustained lacerations to the legs and arms, the rear driver side passenger sustained fractured ribs and lacerations to the arms leg, and face. The rear passenger side occupant sustained lacerations to the arms and legs. All occupants in the vehicle were transported to the hospital with injuries, along with the semi-truck driver. No further information was available. A Police report was taken, and the vehicle was towed away. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the incident. A representative from the manufacturer was sent to inspect the vehicle and deemed no failure had occurred. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 4,000.

Right Front Seat cushion appears to be collapsed / defective. Was present at 29 miles. Dealer looked at it, and dismissed it as not there problem. Started a case with toyota North America, and they're refusing to acknowledge any problem. The passenger seat is noticeably collapsed compared to drivers seat. I have since parked the vehicle as I feel it is unsafe to drive. I bought this truck new the week of Thanksgiving 2025. I fear that the seat may structurally fail during an accident, thus injuring any passenger in that seat.

Supplemental Safety Description I am submitting this supplemental statement to provide a complete and consolidated description of the ongoing safety concern affecting my vehicle. Vehicle Behavior and Safety Symptoms During normal driving conditions, the vehicle consistently exhibits directional instability, including pulling to one side and difficulty maintaining straight-line tracking. Steering control feels unstable, and the vehicle experiences abnormal harshness and vertical movement over the road surface. The vehicle often feels difficult to control and demonstrates behavior consistent with lateral misalignment, including a crab-walking sensation. During rapid left and right steering inputs, the vehicle exhibits abnormal and asymmetric body movement. One side of the vehicle body rises excessively while the opposite side compresses, resulting in excessive body roll and uneven suspension response. This abnormal dynamic behavior creates a strong perception of instability and increases the risk of loss of control or rollover during steering maneuvers. Additionally, overall traction appears reduced. Under wet or slippery road conditions, the wheels are more prone to slipping, further compromising vehicle stability and steering control. Repair History and Dealer Involvement The vehicle has been presented to four different Toyota authorized dealerships for the same steering and suspension-related concerns. Multiple wheel alignments, steering calibrations, inspections, and road tests were performed. Despite these repeated repair attempts, the condition persists. Each dealership reported that no abnormal condition was found and stated that the vehicle was operating normally. In at least one instance, a dealership declined to continue further repair attempts while the safety-related condition remained unresolved. Vehicle Cannot Be Safely Driven – Structural / Suspension Defect Suspected – Dealer Claims “Repair Completed” Despite Unequal Wheelbase My vehicle is currently unsafe to operate, due to the following critical issues: ⸻ 1. Left–right wheelbase inconsistency The front and rear wheelbase measurements are not equal side-to-side. This is a strong indicator of structural deviation, such as: •Subframe misalignment •Control arm mounting point displacement •Deformed suspension components •Manufacturing or assembly error in chassis geometry ⸻ 2. Front caster angles remain abnormal •Left caster: 3.9° •Right caster: 4.9° •Cross-caster difference: 1.0° A 1° difference exceeds manufacturer tolerances and causes: •Vehicle drifting •Poor straight-line stability •Uneven steering return •Potential instability during emergency braking This is a safety-related steering geometry defect. ⸻ 3. Real-world driving confirms unsafe behavior The vehicle cannot maintain straight-line travel, the steering wheel is off-center, and the car exhibits instability at normal speeds. This makes the vehicle unsafe to drive. ⸻ 4. Despite these unresolved issues, the dealership insists the vehicle is “repaired” and demands that I pick it up. They refused to provide frame measurement reports or explanation for the unequal wheelbase. Returning a vehicle with unresolved steering and chassis geometry defects constitutes unsafe vehicle delivery. ⸻ Conclusion Based on unequal wheelbase, abnormal caster geometry, and inability to drive safely, this vehicle likely contains a structural or assembly defect. I formally request investigation, suspension geometry verification, and required action from the manufacturer, as this is a matter of public road safety.

I was driving to work when after running across a minor pothole I heard a clunking sound. It turns out it's the top cap for the front coil-over Bilstein shocks had broken allowing the shaft and the bump stop to protrude through the upper mounting plate. The coil did its job of keeping the vehicle suspended, but the shock piston has no ability to alleviate any stresses put upon the coil. Dealer states that because there was an outside contribution, i.e. a pothole, which had been driven around and over many times before, wasn't warrantable. There was no more than standard bump and sway than when driving around as usual. There was no shudder as though I was going too fast for the defect in the road. I dont know if there was pre existing stress damage from a recent collision(opposite corner of truck) or if the was a defect with the part. The top cap is made out of aluminum rather than steel, which I find disturbing after learning this is not the first to have broken. This vehicle has only been off pavement in gravel driveways and parking lots. I hope you can investigate this thoroughly.

The vehicle was being operated in 4-wheel-drive, mode 4H, and when turning to the left at low speed, there was a grinding noise from the front of the vehicle and it would not proceed. The vehicle had to be put back in 2-wheel-drive, mode 2H, put in reverse, backed up a short distance, and then put back in drive, and then it was able to proceed. This is likely the CV joint issue reported in other 2024 and 2025 Toyota Tacomas. The dealer has been notified, and the vehicle will be taken in for service.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Toyota Venza, 2023-2025 RAV4 Prime, RAV4, Highlander, GR Corolla, Crown, 2024-2025 Lexus TX, LS, Toyota Tacoma, Grand Highlander, and 2025 Lexus RX, Toyota Crown Signia, Camry, RAV 4 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and 4 Runner vehicles. Due to an error in the instrument panel software at vehicle startup, the instrument panel may fail to display vehicle speed, brake system, and tire pressure warning lights.
Risk: An instrument panel display that does not show critical information can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy: Dealers will update the instrument panel software over-the-air (OTA) for non-PHEV vehicles, free of charge. For PHEV vehicles, dealers will inspect the instrument panel assembly, and either replace it, or update the software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed December 5, 2025. Additional letters will be sent, anticipated in May 2026. This is a phased recall. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
