2014 Nissan Parhfinder FWD Premium: this vehicles CVT joint failed that shirt the engine down to about 10 miles an hour immediately. Which caused me the driver to find a place to pull it off the road quickly. If a person or myself could not have a point to pull off the road or someone was behind then could have been rear ended the vehicle and major damage to the vehicle or person driving. Which there was and they were about to go around the pathfinder. The vehicle also may have blown the transmission. Unknown damage right now. But the pathfinder stalled out two times while driving it before it shut totally down on the hwy. I had contacted Nissan and we never got together on a date and time for a phone call with an Arbitration specialist. I had called them back several times and never could connect with them.

I purchased the car July 2024 by November 2024 the transmission failed and had to be replaced. Replaced, not repaired. By October 2025 it failed again. The car sputtered and then would not drive. This time the dealer said other repairs had to be done first before they would officially say the transmission failed. Then I found that Nissan had a manufacturer's defect with the transmission. So they should have it replaced it in 2024 for free. Since I refused to make any more repairs on the car they would not replace the transmission and so the car became dangerous to drive. I have reached out to Nissan Corporate several times. I have filed complaints with my county and state Consumer Protection Agencies. I have contacted my senators as well. I am a senior citizen and I need a car. I would like for Nissan to reimburse for the expenses for the transmission replacement and what I owe on the car. Or they can provide me with another car. Thank you.

Rear Door / lift gate will not go all the way up or stay up without manual assistance, causing 2 head injuries and 2 arm injuries on recent occasions. We have confirmed with the dealer & one Nissan Certified Mechanic that this is a common problem. The dealer & 2 mechanics have said they do not know how to fix this without replacing the entire lifting assembly. We did not ask for estimates. We should not have to, but we can live with the problem now that we are aware of it. Transmission was replaced with new Nisson equipment by the previous owner, costing $5,000+. The problems we are having are the same they were having. The vehicle runs rough, hesitates, vibrates & shakes a lot. It is not very safe in traffic. There is a place for a dipstick to check transmission fluid. We have confirmed with 3 parts stores, 2 mechanics & finally with Nissan, they did not make a dipstick for this car or several other models. One way to check the transmission fluid is to jack up the car, remove a port on the transmission & fill it until if overflows (Cost is approximately $1,100.00, vs a dipstick costing less than $30.00 retail for comparable cars) Another way to check is to jack up the car, drain the transmission fluid, change the filter, replace the seal & cover, then pour in the exact correct amount of transmission fluid through the dipstick hole. However, the only way to know it is actually full is to leave the above-mentioned port out until the fluid overflows. (Our 3 cost estimates range from $1,400.00 to $1,850.00) Had we known of the transmission problems occurring with many if not most Nissan cars, we would not have bought the vehicle. Our research shows these are very common problems with this car & Nissan. We don't know if this applies to what you do, but this car also burns through spark plugs & ignition coils very quickly. We have had to replace all spark plugs 2 times plus 8 ignition coils in the 2-1/2 years we have owned it & driven it only 28,000 miles.

On the way home the same day we noticed that the hood started to slightly come up and after my own investigation I found that it was a recall and it's affecting the transmission due to all the debris and dust.

The car started making a very annoying squeak from the left rear when going over bumps or entering and exiting the car. I took it to my local mechanic to investigate the problem. He discovered the rear suspension sub-frame was rusted out where it attaches to the car body. I was advised that the car was unsafe and should not be driven. I am awaiting more information from my mechanic about the repairs. There were no accidents or injuries caused by this but there could have been if I continued to drive the car. I will retain the rusted sub-frame once the repairs are made. I read three other similar complaints ( all 2014 Pathfinders ) on this web site. I think Nissan should be made aware of this situation.

Heard loud clunk from passenger rear of vehicle, then started hearing binding clunk noise from rear when going over bumps or turning at certain points. Inspection of rear suspension area on rear passenger side revealed a sub-frame that had rusted to the point a suspension part had broken from the frame and was sitting in a hole in the sub frame instead. Surrounding areas of undercarriage not rusted like the sub frame was.... The frame of a vehicle rusting to point of breakage at only 11 years old is a safety hazard suspension wise.....Suspension parts bolted to the sub-frame at multiple points.

It’s not shifting automatically at all. 3.) the problem have not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, only reported to dealer. 4.) The vehicle or component havr not been inspected by police, manufacturer, insurance representatives or others. 5.) there weren’t any warning ️ lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The sudden occurrence was observed three-days ago, when the loud engine sputtering noise began after running quietly earlier in the day. 5a) it simply sounded like the header pipe (s) to the engine became disconnected from the engine, or the equivalent of the header/engine exhaust pipe(s).

I bought a new transmission from Nissan 2 years and couple of months ago, about 3 weeks ago car started jerking and engine light lit up. I took my car to my mechanic and he told me that it was CVT transmission problem, to take it to Nissan that it should be under warranty. Nissan had the vehicle for about two weeks and informed me that indeed it was the transmission but that it was not covered because I had an implied warranty. I called Nissan consumer affairs that informed me that the service department was wrong and a decision was not made yet. I was treated like trash by Nissan and was thrown out of the premises because I was asking questions she did not like. She accused me of calling names, which I never did and refused to let me take pictures of the vin# from inside the door. She did allow me to take pictures of my vehicle and told to that she was calling the police which was uncalled for. I went and spoke to Nissan managers, Alphonse and Igor about my situation at the service center and that the refused to to let me take a picture and I missed an appointment that I had on with one main financial at 3:00pm. Alphonse came with me to service center and I was able to get my keys and that the manager was lying because I showed him the video that I did. Very disappointed that it went this far, I might be suing Nissan. Because the Nissan supervisor that came with me noticed that the service center manager was lying he did not charge me for the diagnostic done.

The problem I am having now envovles the EMC. After getting the catalytic converters replaced 2 times replacing the oxygen sensors 3 times and the manifold replaced, also a few other things that’s all connected the computer won’t acknowledge that’s the new parts have been replaced. So the engine still has a bad exhaust smell and the vehicle won’t run properly. Mechanic said I shouldn’t have a problem with the EMC but it is the problem. The problems go away once the codes are cleared but come back when the engine light comes back on. I have also noticed that a recall for the EMC for the same year vehicle but for a hybrid.

Then driving home from work [XXX] the check engine light came on and codes were CVT Judder, Bank 1 Low Catalytic Converter, Driver TPMS Sensors Bad. And then after couple days the check engine light went off. Car has a loud Humming noise prior to light coming on and still. RPMS still jump but now the speedometer does it as well. We spend a lot of time going for rides and doing things he likes. I was shocked when I heard what was wrong. Thank God we did not get injured or worse. Now, this frame needs to be replaced and I can imagine the cost to me.I am a retired RN. I have seen a good amount of complaints on line in Google from other Pathfinder owners regarding the exact same issue, Why wasn't there a recall? Will Nissan reimburse me once I get an estimate and the car fixed? This is not fair. I do not tow a boat, the car has not been submerged in water...I Imagine the frame was not prepped properly by Nissan. Pressing the gas pedal from a full stop resulted in no car accleration (aside from normal car rolling forward from taking foot off of brake) and no engine 'acceleration'. Only when I pressed hard enough did the car suddenly lurch forward/accelerate. This is very risky, as I had been making a turn I would potentially be blocking the incoming lane. In addition, after parking in a parking lot, and turning off the car, I noticed that the brake lights were still lit up.

The catalytic converter bank one has been replaced twice within a year on this vehicle and now for the year is out it needs to be replaced a third time. I do not know if there is a manufacturing issue with that but I don’t have another $3000 to replace this. The catalytic converter bank one only stays good for less than six months, but the warranty runs out after the three month period. I am not sure around the month, but I do believe it first started happening December of last year. I can get the paperwork from my mechanic.

The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that upon closing the hood, the hood failed to latch securely. The contact released the hood release lever on the secondary hood latch, allowing the hood lock release cable to hold the hood in place and to prevent the hood from unexpectedly opening. Additionally, the contact stated that the front driver's side sun visor clips had fractured, causing the sun visor to lower, obstructing the visibility of the roadway while driving. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V420000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that there was no failure with the secondary latch. The dealer lubricated the hood lock assembly and the secondary hood latch; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

Will go back to aamco but other then this , any recalls any liability on Nissan itself for manufacturing bad components or a bad cvt transmission? As for the airbag indicator light flashing on the dash . That happen after my cvt was replaced . Any ideas please ? Would appreciate any help advice here . Thank you . 3 of my door handles have broken once before I had taken ownership of the vehicle. Since owning the vehicle those same 3 door handles have broken again. This is a cause for concern because if you were in a motor vehicle accident you wouldn’t be able to get the doors open from the inside of the vehicle. For the past few months I have been rolling the windows down to open the door from the outside handle..

Driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly lost all forward traction. No reaction to the accelerator anymore besides engine revving up. Once vehicle came to a stop, it had to be pushed off the road, impacting traffic on the road, putting my safety and that of others at risk. Technician pulled a “P17F0 - CVT Jutter” code. Dealership advised the vehicle needs a new transmission. Vehicle is less than 10 years old, less than 120,000 miles. Dealership advised no warranty coverage for the issue and a cost of $9,000 to replace CVT transmission. No warning or warning lights prior to incident. Regular maintenance at dealership (brand new purchase, one owner). Nissan is aware of the CVT transmission issues but offering no assistance. (Case # 52368136 from call with Nissan Customer care).

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Pathfinder vehicles manufactured June 20, 2012, to June 13, 2013. The brake light switch may have been installed incorrectly causing the relay to make intermittent contact and repeatedly cycle. This may result in the relay remaining in the "ON" position, causing the brake lights to remain illuminated even when the brakes are not applied. Additionally, the brake light switch may interfere with the brake-shift interlock, allowing the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "Park" position, without depressing the brake pedal.
Risk: If the brake override is activated, the driver will not be accelerate normally, increasing the risk of a crash. If the brake lights remain illuminated, other drivers may fail to stop when the vehicle actually brakes, increasing the risk of a crash. If the driver inadvertently shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, the vehicle may rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake light switch and, as necessary, replace the relay, free of charge. The recall began on July 25, 2016. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2015 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles. The location of the brake light switch may cause the brake light switch relay to repeatedly open and close. Overtime, this can cause the relay to stick in the "ON" position, with the brake lights remaining illuminated even when the brakes are not applied. Additionally, this may interfere with the brake-shift interlock, allowing the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "Park" position, without depressing the brake pedal.
Risk: Continual illumination of the brake lights can prevent other drivers from realizing the vehicle is actually slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash. With the brake override activated, the driver will not be able to accelerate normally, increasing the risk of a crash. The driver can shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, allowing the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, either re-install the brake light switch or swap positions with the Automatic Speed Control Device (ASCD) switch; depending on the model year vehicle. In addition, the brake light relay will be replaced with a new one. All repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall PC786. Note: this recall supersedes 16V-380.

Investigations
3 NHTSA investigations on record
Investigations are agency reviews, not findings that a vehicle is defective.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this preliminary evaluation to investigate consumer complaints alleging hood latch failures occurring on certain model year (MY) 2013-2016 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles. Complaints received indicated a sudden and unexpected opening of the hood while the vehicle was in motion, blocking the driver's visibility.During this investigation Nissan collected parts from the field to analyze for root cause of the alleged failures. On June 13, 2022, Nissan submitted a Defect Information Report (DIR) to NHTSA regarding a hood bell crank assembly defect in certain MY2013-2016 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles produced at the Smyrna, TN plant. According to Nissan's DIR, an accumulation of dust and dirt contamination on and around the bell crank lever pivot joint, which actuates the secondary hood latch, can create a condition that can cause the lever to remain in the open position after it has been disengaged. In this condition, the secondary hood latch may not hold the hood closed as designed while the vehicle is in motion obstructing the driver's forward view and increasing the risk of a crash.A remedy plan for all affected vehicles is currently under development. In April 2014, Nissan North America launched Safety Recall 14V-138 to address problems with the Occupant Classification System (OCS) algorithm in the following vehicles: model year (MY) 2013-2014 Nissan Altima, Pathfinder, Sentra and LEAF; MY 2013 Infiniti JX35; MY 2014 Infiniti QX60 and Q50; and MY 2013 Nissan NV 200/Taxi vehicles.According to Nissan, the OCS may misclassify adult front passenger occupants and turn off the passenger's frontal air bag for an adult occupant of sufficient weight. In March 2015, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Recall Query after the agency received approximately 124 complaints alleging problems with the OCS after the recall repairs and/or other OCS related repairs were made by Nissan/Infiniti dealers. The majority of the complaints alleged the passenger air bag status light stays on (i.e., indicating passenger air bag is turned off) for adult front passengers of sufficient weight. Many of the complaints stated the dealers have made multiple repairs but the problem still persists. In its June 2015 response to ODI's information request under the Recall Query, Nissan provided approximately 1,121 complaints and field reports on the recalled vehicles. These reports alleged OCS issues similar to the NHTSA reports described above. At this time, NHTSA has received a total of approximately 208 complaints (note: total of 1,271 reports shown in the table above eliminates 58 duplicative reports received by ODI and manufacturer). This Recall Query has been upgraded to an Engineering Analysis (EA15-004) to conduct a comparative assessment and further evaluate the effectiveness of the recall remedy which will include a thorough review of the countermeasures taken by Nissan and its suppliers. The ODI reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the following identification numbers:10583283 10585264 10585349 10585379 10592434 10593399 10593501 10594329 10594614 10594755 10595161 10595645 10595946 10596128 10596459 10596952 10597037 10597452 10597518 10597719 10598537 10598869 10604755 10604834 10605188 10605251 10606565 10606828 10607038 10609649 10610519 10610991 10614467 10614609 10614745 10616905 10617008 10617507 10617903 10618099 10618202 10619059 10619563 10620719 10621840 10622214 10625808 10625981 10625998 10626006 10626023 10626335 10626458 10626732 10628355 10629382 10629460 10629606 10630441 10630502 10630990 10632251 10632588 10632934 10632997 10633714 10633810 10637994 10638591 10639040 10639147 10639324 10639473 10643046 10643843 10644203 10644333 10644341 10644690 10644891 10644985 10648834 10648997 10649414 10649772 10649874 10651360 10651564 10651924 10651982 10652024 10658665 10658844 10659484 10660294 10661195 10661358 10661541 10661795 10661855 10662901 10663033 10663338 10663860 10663978 10668054 10668768 10670538 10672807 10673088 10676471 10678478 10678997 10679512 10680748 10680769 10680975 10681656 10682235 10682902 10682993 10683391 10683689 10689672 10689809 10689981 10691626 10692137 10692558 10692625 10693168 10695312 10700614 10700960 10701008 10701011 10701014 10701018 10701023 10701027 10701031 10701032 10701035 10701045 10701055 10701064 10701074 10701146 10701196 10701228 10701237 10701254 10701301 10701306 10701326 10701367 10701370 10701384 10701415 10701453 10701526 10701558 10701656 10701670 10701946 10702003 10702667 10702798 10703032 10703657 10703766 10703813 10704196 10704988 10705530 10705919 10706621 10712543 10712568 10712575 10713335 10714316 10714330 10714536 10714980 10715132 10715945 10717336 10720918 10720971 10721331 10721746 10723424 10724568 10731167 10731868 10732012 10732065
