Component that failed: brakes. I was pulling into a parking spot at low speed and the brake pedal was suddenly extremely difficult to depress, almost impossible. It felt as if a brick were under the pedal but there was no obstruction. I was able to stop only because I was already going so slow. Safety of myself and others was at risk because I was almost unable to stop the vehicle. If I had been going any faster I don't believe I would have been able to without crashing into an obstacle. Vehicle is currently at a service shop but issue has not been verified or repaired as of today. When restarting the vehicle, the engine stuttered and started making odd sounds, and wouldn't idle properly. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms at all prior to failure. When I entered the parking lot it was working normally and when I turned to enter a parking spot the brakes suddenly just failed.

Issue 1: Cooling Fan Remained On After Engine Shutdown Component or system involved: Engine cooling system and fan control system, including the radiator cooling fan, fan relay, coolant temperature sensor, wiring, or engine control module (ECM). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. What happened: After turning off the engine, the radiator cooling fan remained running continuously for approximately five minutes and would not shut off as expected. No warning light, message, or other dashboard indication appeared before or during the event. This was unusual behavior compared with normal operation. Safety risk: The unexpected fan operation created concern that the cooling system was malfunctioning and that the vehicle could overheat, experience an electrical problem, or become unreliable while driving. A cooling system or electrical failure while in traffic could put me and other drivers at risk. Reproduction or confirmation: The issue occurred several time and was confirmed by a Chevrolet dealer, and was told that my warranty did not cover the issue. I took it to outside mechanic to fix the issue as Chevrolet wanted to charge over $1500 for the issue. No warning lamps, messages, overheating indicators, or other symptoms appeared before the fan remained on. The problem occurred suddenly back in 2025. Issue 2: Ignition Key Gets Stuck and Cannot Be Removed Ignition lock cylinder, ignition switch, transmission shift-interlock system, park-position switch, or steering column lock mechanism. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The ignition key intermittently becomes stuck and cannot be removed from the ignition. The problem occurs after parking and turning the vehicle off, and I sometimes need to move the shifter or steering wheel repeatedly before the key can be removed. A stuck ignition key can prevent me from properly shutting down and securing the vehicle. It may also indicate a failure in the ignition or shift-interlock system.

I was driving down a street, stopped for an accident that the police where directing traffic for, went passed the 2 officers, put my indicator light on to turn into Dunkin Donuts and stepped on the brakes and they failed. I was lucky there was an incline and no one behind me, I was able to drive up the incline and use my emergency brakes to slow and stop the car before going over the top and down the other side. I called the tow truck and was towed to my auto shop where is was discovered, my car suffered a catastrophic brake failure. Thank goodness I was not on my usual route with my special needs son and wasn't going to fast. This is a known failure of the brake vacuum booster pump and this damaged my camshaft and timing chain and cost a fortune on a car barely out of warranty. This would have been a death sentence for me and my son if I had been on a highway, as well as other people on the highway, if I wasn't able to stop for construction, someone cutting in front of me or any other incident on the road. This is NOT acceptable and these vehicles should be recalled!!!!! I am not the only one that has been through this since 2014 TERRIBLE-recall this part before someone dies, like they did in VA with the bus. I also had to rent a car during the repairs so I could get my son to his activities. This whole incident that should have been covered under a recall has caused my son to have PTSD with this vehicle.

My key was getting stuck in the ignition back in 2024 and the dealership replaced my shifter assembly. I am now having the same issue later after 2 years and I am out of warranty and now having to pay out of pocket. My sister has the same truck, year and color and had hers replaced. Also the service advisor said they’ve had two others come in with the same truck and had the same issue. I am unable to remove my key for quite some time once it gets stuck and I called Chevrolet themselves and they are telling me there is nothing they can do.

When turning off the ignition, the key will not go all the way "off" and the key will not release. If I turn the ignition back on and drive forward and backwards and SLOWLY put the vehicle into Park, and then attempt to turn off the vehicle, it will occasionally allow it at that point. It appears to be a disconnect of the system recognizing the vehicle is truly in Park and when it isn't and thereby releasing the ignition off function. the engine does shut off but I think it remains in ACC and will not release. Maybe safety switch in the shifter assembly.

Unknown on first appear - key gets stuck in the ignition. This happened for the first time shortly after we bought it. It was still under warranty and the Chevrolet dealership in Washington PA fixed it. We paid to have it fixed and now it’s out again and we can’t get our key out of the ignition and we sit there forever trying to get it to work. Restarting vehicle etc. We had an appointment the other day and sat there well over a half hour trying to remove the key from the ignition because you obviously can’t leave it in the vehicle. We even drive the vehicle to a different spot in a lot to see if it will release what seems to be pressure to get it out? There’s no warranty to fix it and we shouldn’t have to replace the same issue over and over again. I feel this should be a recall or a lemon issue. Also- we took our vehicle to a local inspection auto shop because we have an issue with the transmission shuttering like you are driving over a rumble strip. We were informed there has been recalls on the Colorado trucks through the years however we have no recall on our vin. I believe and feel this should be covered under the recall since it’s obviously is an ongoing issue through the years. There weren’t any warning lights and currently still no warning lights when these issues happen. This is a big inconvenience owning a truck that we bought brand new and having repeated issues that are known for this particular vehicle. Yes it will be available to be inspected upon request. Please assist. Attached is a receipt where we tried to see if the truck was possibly shuttering from being out of aligned. That wasn’t the case and they referred us to Middle Creek Garage where we paid to have it looked at and they told us about the transmission recalls and what they are known for. I can’t find my receipts. Washington Chevrolet in Pennsylvania is who has worked on our ignition key issues twice. Your date below is messing up. Transmission started in 09/2025.

Beginning in Nov 2025 my steering wheel occasionally catches, grabs or gets stuck at slow speeds in forward or reverse as I turn the wheel like pulling into a parking space. A loud noise also occurs as I ease the wheel off a little then power through the grab, which then returns to normal steering. I've been able to overpower the grab by powering through it. I brought my truck to an auto repair shop. The tech experienced one episode on a test drive. He could not identify any issues and no warning lights. I contacted General Motors problem resolution team in Detroit. They had me take my truck to a Chevy Dealership which I did. The truck was at the dealership from 7:30 in the morning till almost 4pm. The dealership experienced one episode, thoroughly checked out the truck but could not diagnose a problem. The Chevy dealership did not charge me and did not give me any paperwork, indicating they would be willing to try again if the problem continues/gets worse. Both auto repair shop and Chevy said it was ok, safe to drive. Detroit's team spoke with the Chevy dealership and closed the ticket they had opened for me, telling me I could email the team and open a new ticket if necessary in the future.

The plastic piece on the heater blend door actuator breaks. There was a recall or a service bulletin (2016019) on this issue for the 2015-16 models. The problem still exists, but Chevy will not acknowledge it and the consumer is left to pay a ridiculous amount for the repair. How are they allowed to keep making this product? Had I known I wouldn’t have bought the truck.

While driving with my wife and granddaughter we were getting off the freeway making a left turn to head into Nashville and the steering wheel locked up and would not allow me to turn the wheels. The dash board flashed and had to force it over to the right side of the road. The steering wheel locked up while making teh turn almost caused me to fill the truck and crash into other vehicles making the same left turn we were. We called roadside assistants with onstar and had it towed to teh nearest chevrolet dealer. The dealer then waited 3 days before looking at the vehicle. They at first said they could not recreat the issue but then the next day said the steering gear was bad and should be replaced. When I advised them I had an extended warranty they would get back to me. Then the next day Thursday Aug 14 they then again said it could not be recreated and they did not want the warranty company to deny it. It currently still sits at Carl Black Chevrolet. Problem first appeared Sat aug 9th. I am set to pick it up tomorrow Aug 16th as of yet nothing has been done to correct the issue.

Safety is at risk as the vehicle is not recognizing when the car is in park, could lead to further problems when in park. The problem occurs more often than not when switching the car into park, car must be turned back on on off multiple times to release the key or popping the shift release to trip part into engaging and thus releasing. The car was taken in today to a Chevy dealer for a $900 diagnostic and fix which was not performed, many complaints and issues with other newer chevy owners about the issue. No warning lights or tripped codes on code scanner.

Fuel Guage will not move until there is about 200 miles after filling up. When filling up at the 320 miles the pump will shut off at 10 gals. The miles to empty will show that I can go anywhere from 400 to 500 miles. (This is impossible) this also does not match with the fuel gauge reads. Have taken this to the chevy dealer and they could not find anything wrong. It passed the sweep test and they drove it for about 200 miles and stated there was nothing wrong. Vehicle has 19000 miles. First time this happened was when it was at around 10000 miles. Issue is that I don't know and can't drive this very far due to not knowing how much fuel I have used. Chevrolet Customer Service filed a case and told me to take to a dealership in my home town, Tallahassee Florida. I scheduled an appointment with Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet. When I went there they told me it would be $199.00 on my credit card. I told them it under warranty and they told me that was their policy. I called Chevy CS and they said that there was nothing they could do. I did tell them this is a safety issue but they didn't care. The brakes are completing worn so there must be an issue with the system for the vehicle to go through brakes so soon. It is driven mostly highway and I am [XXX]. I am having issues with my key getting stuck in my 2022 Colorado. It will turn enough for the engine to shut off but will go all the way back to where the key will release. This is well known issue will many forums documenting this on multiple Chevy vehicles of different makes and models. The safety concerns are if this happens somewhere unsafe to remain parked or to remain with your vehicle. You cannot leave the vehicle unattended and while you can start it, you are stuck with the vehicle until the gas runs out or you have someone come fix/tow you. If you are for example camping or in an unsafe area you cannot leave or lock your vehichle. If you don't have cell service, gas. or money you could be in a real bind. Chevy is definitely aware of this issue and has not issued a recall. This is despite previous recalls and scandal over ignition failure problems.

This is a driver distraction report about Apple CarPlay which likely occurs in the same way in every other vehicle with Apple CarPlay. (Since CarPlay and Android Auto become more and more common a special category should probably be created to enable customers to report safety critical topics) Since iOS14 Apple has switched off the simple map scrolling and zooming functions and made it a big effort to change anything on the map while driving. During the time to zoom and move the map I am constantly distracted from looking at the street which leads to dangerous situations in thousands of cars every day multiple times. Apple is not reachable for a topic like this Before iOS14 I could simply move the map and zoom in and out like I can on the phone itself: very intuitive and fast. Since iOS 14 this function has changed: now I am not able anymore to zoom and move the map easily. I have to touch the screen, wait about 750ms for new Plus and Minus Zoom buttons to appear: Only then can I zoom and and out of the map. The delay of these buttons to appear is dangerous and takes my attention away from looking at the street to then click again on plus or minus. But I can still not move the map easily! I have to again touch the screen, wait for about 750ms again for the buttons to appear which then show me also a "move" button to enable the move function. Once the move function is activated I get 4 more buttons on each side of the map (north, east, south, west) where I can touch on to move the map into the corresponding direction. It is not easy to move the map around as I constantly have to coordinate my eyes, fingers and mind to hit the right button and hit it multiple times to make the map move to where I want it to be - while driving this is not easy at all and takes again and again a lot of my attention away from looking at the street. I think it is dangerous and safety critical and needs to be addressed from NHTSA's side to Apple.

Vehicle Speed ControlApr 2023 · ODI 11518351Details +

I like to have metric units active in my vehicle and this Colorado enables me to switch to metric (i.e. 24h clock, temperature in Celsius, mileage in km,...) It is my understanding that, in the US, this function is allowed but the current speed must also always be displayed somewhere. This is not the case. When switching to metric ALL units everywhere switch to metric, also the current speed is not shown anywhere in miles, so I can never make sure that I am not exceeding the speed limit. It also affects the cruise control function as, also there, I can not see the speed in miles per hour. I have brought up this topic to the manufacturer and was told "working as designed" I think this needs to be addressed with the manufacturer and a SW update needs to be released to keep at least one display always on miles when going to metric units.

A very long menu with text is shown in the cluster instrument and is not limited to less text while driving. This menu is in the settings and about function and it lists 30-40 pages of legal and policy terms that can be read while driving and can distract the driver. This menu should show limited text while driving to avoid driver distraction. I brought this up with the manufacturer and got the feedback "working as designed" It appears this design needs to be changed to avoid driver distractions while driving.

I purchased a new 2022 Chevy Colorado LT in January. When driving home and it got dark I used the dimmer to see better. When using the dimmer all of the radio dials turn completely off / dark (not illuminated at all). I drove off the road, looking down trying to find them. I notified the dealership the next day. They had the vehicle for about a week and told me it was fixed. I went to pick it up but it was not. They kept it, tried to fix it again then stated it is how it is supposed to be. I opened a case with GM. They assured me it would be fixed. I brought it to another dealership. They replaced the radio and told me it was fixed and it was not. They took the truck in again for a week. This is now 3 times the truck has been in. Everyone (dealership and GM) telling me it is not right and should be fixed. They are now telling me it is operating as designed. They are saying there is nothing else they can do under the warranty. It is absolutely ridiculous. The radio dials are not illuminated at night if you use the dimmer at all. This issue is specific to all LT Colorado models The Z71 Colorado General Motors Corporation 100 Renaissance Center, P.O. The Z71 Colorado model radio (which is identical) does not do this. I requested they used this radio as it is the same (just a different part number). They are stating they need a GM Supervisor or Engineer approval. GM has tried to fix this issue 3-4 times and had my truck for almost 30 days and is now refusing to fix it.

I purchased the vehicle in October 2021. Through the 2021/2022 Michigan winter - no issues. This 2022/2023 winter, an issue has occurred. When breaking, prior to coming to a complete stop, the vehicle shifts down hard with two clunks. On a slippery surface, it causes the truck to slide a bit - as though the wheels are close to locking-up. I took the truck to Art Moehn Chevrolet in Jackson, Michigan. They received a letter from GM stating this is normal. See attached. This problem only occurs in freezing temperatures and when first driving the vehicle. In warmer temperatures, or after the truck has warmed up in freezing temperatures, the problem lessens or goes away.

The truck only has 12,009 miles on it we purchased it new in November 2021. Now the fuel gage only shows Full regardless of the amount of gas in the tank. Also when we try to fill the tank the gas pump keeps stopping as if the tank is full even when the tank is not. We are extremely uncomfortable to travel any distance. The dealership looked at the issue and said everything checked out ok. It is NOT ok.

Purchased truck Sept 30th, 2022. I drive home from the dealership that evening during a heavy rainstorm. Two days later I went to remove front passenger floor mat to put in all weather mats I noticed the carpet floor mat was damp and underneath the mat was wet. I felt the water direction towards the front tire wall area. Truck is back at dealership to determine cause.
