VIN: [XXX]. 2019 Chevy Colorado, ~115,000 mi. FAILED COMPONENT: Vacuum pump failed internally; debris damaged the exhaust camshaft. Pump is cam-driven with no shear pin, so seizure cuts brake assist AND sends metal debris into the engine. Truck/parts are at Chapman Chevrolet, Tempe AZ, available for inspection. SAFETY RISK: On XXX, brake pedal suddenly lost assist while my son merged onto XXX from [XXX]. Pedal effort/stopping distance increased with no warning - high risk of collision merging into highway traffic. CONFIRMED BY DEALER: Yes. Chapman Chevrolet confirmed vacuum pump failure and camshaft damage, consistent with GM TSB 21-NA-268 (drive-lug failure). OTHER INSPECTIONS: Dealer only so far; not yet by GM, police, or insurance. Available if needed. PRIOR SYMPTOMS: None. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the sudden brake assist failure on 7/1/26. This is a known failure mode on GM's cam-driven vacuum pump (TSB 21-NA-268; Special Coverage XXX covers 2014-2017 trucks/SUVs but not this 2019 Colorado despite same design). Requesting investigation into whether this is an unaddressed defect on 2018-2019+ Colorado/Canyon 2.5L trucks, and whether recall/extended coverage is warranted. The infotainment system is not functioning. The screen will come on as I turn on the truck, then it goes blank. Sometimes it flashes and then goes black. I cannot use any of my apps or connect to Apple CarPlay. This has been going on for months now. I have complained to Chevrolet and the dealership. They have failed to provide a solution. This truck only has 35,000 miles on it. We can no longer take it on trips because we have no navigation, especially in areas where wi-fi may be hard to connect to by just our phones. We have followed all the trouble shooting provided in the Chevy app or online and nothing helps.

I purchased my truck from Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, IA around September of 2019. Approximately 1.5 years after purchasing the vehicle, I began having issues with my infotainment system intermittently resetting itself while I was driving. On or about the end of 2021 (after this had occurred a few time), I brought the truck into the Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, IA, as it seemed to become more frequent of an occurrence. The technician told me that this thing happens all the time with the infotainment systems and it was nothing to be concerned about and because it was intermittent, they may not be able to identify the issue unless it was actively occurring and I was told to come back in if it continued to happen. Shortly after, I had moved to [XXX] in April of 2022, I began to have more frequent issues with the infotainment system randomly resetting and eventually it began impacting phone calls, where people would cut in and out or disconnect, beginning to cause even more of a safety and distraction issue. After conducting some of my own research, I learned that I was not the only one that had issues with the infotainment system in the 2019 Colorado and that GM had published several Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) regarding the infotainment system, and there had been a class action lawsuit, [XXX] , et al. v. General Motors LLC, that covers the same issues I am having. On January 29, 2025, after the issue progressively getting worse, I took the truck to Gregg Young Chevrolet in Omaha, NE. After conducting a diagnosis they verbally confirmed there were TSBs regarding radio issues that after contacting the GM service center, GM's response was to replace the radio. This was to be at my own cost however, considering GM confirmed through TSBs there are issues with the infotainment system, coupled with safety concerns around distracted driving, I felt compelled to make this complaint. In and out of the shop for the last 3.5 years (Warranty is expired now) with multiple engin codes (CEL). Most having to do with the fuel delivery systems. Most common P026D, and P1089. It has been in the shop at least 6 or more times. GM won't stand by their product. Since the warranty ended I've put mor than $4,000 in to repairs for this and now I'm told it will cost me anouther $6000 to $7000 to repair. I bout this truck used with 60,000 miles on it and paid cash $50,000 to the dealer the originally sold it to the previous owner. I just want them to fix the issue once and for all. To date they have just thrown parts at it but it never fixes the problem. They have changed the MAP sensor, the fuel rail and pressure regulator, the injectors, and they've re-wired part of the wiring harness. None of this has solved the issues.

I experienced shuttering when accelerating, leaving Treasure Island garage. I got on the freeway and drove 11 miles. I experienced shuttering again after waiting at a red light. I experienced final shuttering after reaching another red light. Had it towed to the dealership and was told that the transmission was no longer operational. Truck was 5.5 years old with a little over 60k miles. I was on the way to pick up my daughter and thankfully, she was not in the truck when this occurred. Truck did routine maintenance at Chevy dealerships only. Fairway for the majority and Findlay the final year of its life.

Transmission Component: M5T: TRANSMISSION AUTO 8 SPD, 8L45 available for inspection. The vehicle shakes badly and shudders during acceleration and causes a brief inability to accelerate, often at higher speeds and with a great deal of rumbling and vibration. No other warning lamps, messages, or symptoms. The problem first appeared about 2 months ago. I recognized it as a persistent problem, and I was no longer comfortable driving the vehicle and feared that it would shut down while driving. I took my vehicle for diagnostic and maintenance at a local service center who also noticed that the transfer case "is making an unusual squeaking noise when driving". I was then notified that this is a known problem with this vehicle make and model for 2019 and referred here to file a complaint. Having less than 60K miles on this vehicle, I was referred to the dealership for possible next steps.

The infotainment center goes out, then comes on on a frequent basis causing the loss of navigation system through CarPlay and now will not even connect to CarPlay also loses backup camera. In addition I have noted that when the blinker is on to signal a turn, it will stop the blinker system when the infotainment center goes out, which is a safety concern with the use of blinkers to signal approaching rear traffic to the vehicle. I have contacted the dealer and also see there’s an infotainment bulletin out. I have not had a response from the dealership as of this report. I am also a certified safety professional, and the loss of turn signal in conjunction with the infotainment center outage raises a safety concern in my opinion. This has been an ongoing issue with the system for the last year or so and has progressively gotten worse to the point that the screen now goes out every minute or so for 5 to 30 seconds and now CarPlay will no longer connect to phone for navigation. The constant screen going black started within the last 30 days of June 2025.

My 2019 Chevrolet Colorado, equipped with the 3.6L LGZ engine, recently triggered a P0024 diagnostic trouble code. This code indicates a failure of the Bank 2 exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid, a critical part of the variable valve timing (VVT) system. After researching, I discovered that General Motors has issued Special Coverage N232430470 for this exact issue on the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado, which uses the same LGZ engine and solenoid system. Despite the identical failure and engine design, my vehicle is not currently included in the coverage. I believe this reflects a systemic defect that affects multiple model years — not just 2020 — and that GM is choosing to limit coverage unfairly. This failure can result in check engine warnings, drivability issues, reduced fuel economy, and possibly emissions system non-compliance. I am requesting NHTSA to investigate whether this VVT solenoid issue warrants a broader recall or special coverage extension across model years with the LGZ engine (including 2019).

I was driving around 60mph on a highway with cruise control. Heavy traffic resulted in a major accident in front of me. I slammed my brakes, which prevented me from getting involved in the altercation. However, the vacuum pump on the Colorado shattered, and I was forced to drive on the highway with a limited ability to brake. I recall the brake pedal being flushed against the floor. Luckily, I am young and strong. However, if any elderly person were driving, they would not be able to brake the car due to the excessive force I had to apply. Furthermore, after pulling off the highway, my engine leaked oil. To empathize, after slamming my brakes, my brakes stopped working.

Had vehicle towed to Chevrolet Dealership was told high pressure fuel pump mounting bolts had broken and fuel pump was loose. Dealer replace fuel pump and one fuel pipe (part #12627128). I paid full price repair ($ 1,775.21) and contacted Chevrolet to see if they would offer any assistance I was under the power-train mileage but over on time. They offered and I accepted 50% of the repair cost but no towing. After some research I discovered there was a recall (18V358000) for an erlier model for a similar problem . The recall was for the fuel pump separating from the base which could damage the fuel line and create a fire hazard. In my case the entire pump came loose which leads to the same result as the pump separating from the mounting plate.

I purchased my 2019 Chevy Colorado Z71 new in Feb 2019 from a dealership. About two years ago I began having shifting issues from 1st to 2nd gear, it would shudder and seem almost stuck, this would only occur infrequently. Right after I hit 100,000 miles (about a year ago) I have had nothing but issues with the 8 speed transmission, my vehicle is unable to shift from 1st to 2nd without having the shudder occur, it feels like the whole truck is shaking and loses power at acceleration. I took it in for their recommended "service bulletin" which was something that I had to locate myself because GM has not once communicated about there being any kind of shudder issue and they performed a simple flush of the transmission, not the service bulletin recommendation of three flushes and a different fluid. My truck is now in the shop because I am unable to drive it due to this ongoing issue that GM fails to recognize and so far have spent $1,000 attempting to rectify this issue and being told that in order for them to actually perform the service bulletin, it will be another $225 to diagnose the problem, around $500-$700 to perform the service bulletin, and then if that "does not fix the problem", I will have to spend another $900 on a torque converter because that "could" be the issue, the dealership "doesn't know". Then the third fix would be to replace the transmission ($5500-$8500) This has been a known issue since manufacturing and GM is failing to provide adequate assistance to fix a known problem with their 8 speed transmissions. I no longer feel safe to operate my chevy colorado in fear that it could cause serious injury to myself and others due to GM not being able to provide a safe fix to their ongoing issue.

This truck has roughly 41000 miles on it. As I was driving home from work on [XXX], I heard a faint noise and then my truck just lost power and died on the freeway. There were no engine warning lights on and did not want to restart and stay running. After a few times of starting and dying the message on the dash said keep driving engine is in regen. This is a diesel truck and the newer ones have a regeneration that is done with DEF. I was unable to get it off onto the exit, but did get it off the roadway. The vehicle was towed into the shop on February 3rd, 2024. The shop had to order parts and said that it was just a faulty part. I received the truck back on March 14th. I drove it home from the shop and to work for two days putting roughly 100 miles on the truck. On my way home on [XXX] , the truck died again with no warning at all. Same symptoms, just no power and no warning. The truck was towed back to the shop where it still sits today. The problem is there is an issue with this thing dying without any warning at all. The dealer and Chevrolet techs have been unsuccessful in finding the problem. It has been almost 6 months in the shop with literally no idea of what is wrong. I feel this is a serious safety issue that could leave people or families stranded without any warning or idea of how to repair. I feel this should be investigated and brought to someone's attention. I have contacted Chevrolet, but unfortunately they have left everything up to the dealership. The dealer is Auburn Chevrolet in Auburn, WA. I cannot remove the key from the ignition switch after shutting it off. The engine will shut down but the key stays on the accessories position eventually causing the battery to go dead. It doesn't do it all the time, but it at some point in time it will become permanent. I consider this a very serious safety issue as I cannot lock the vehicle therefore it can be very easily stolen. Since I cannot lock it, a child could get in the vehicle and start it up and who knows what would happen after that. I also owned another GM vehicle with the same issue the key could not be removed from the ignition switch. Because an injury was involved a GM Rep came to check it out. After working several hours, he told us he could not find anything wrong with the ignition. It seems funny we never had an issue with it after he had checked it out. Lawsuit averted! I firmly believe this is a serious safety issue must be investigated!!

Steering binding hard in turns. Turns over 45 deg of steering wheel rotation cause periodic binding in the turn, regardless of vehicle speed. Can be reproduced when the truck isn’t moving. Very nearly caused a serious accident as could not control direction out of a turn at 30 mph, and had to come to a rapid stop to avoid hitting another car. Wiggling the steering wheel in both directions with moderate force/torque releases the binding steering. Vehicle only has 44,000 mi with no off-road use. Vehicle is going in for service on 4/18/24. Extremely dangerous failure mode, whatever it turns out to be.

My radio is hooked up with my reverse camera, it has been malfunctioning for about a year now. When I place my truck in reverse and the reverse camera comes on it only displays it for 3 seconds than turns immediately off. This is causing a safety issue. I depend on this radio and camera to work properly. They dealer have to assume responsibility over this matter.i took my truck the dealership right 104 thousand miles, the dealership is charging me humongous amounts of cash to have the safety concern fixed.

February 2023 my son was driving 40 mph (approx) and the power steering became disabled. We took the truck to Landers McLarty Chevrolet. They never mentioned a known recall for this issue on previous year models. The Truck only had 27,000 miles but was out of warranty for the 3 years had expired in August. They gave an initial estimate and repair of $750. Picked up the vehicle and on the way home same thing happens again - lost power steering and then had warning lights on dash after it went out. Took it directly back to dealership. 3 attempts and 5 weeks later including +-$5K cost for 3 different repairs - issue seemed to be resolved. The issue returned today as my son was driving 55 mph (approx) lost power steering in extremely heavy traffic. Knowing what had happened before he was able to navigate to an exit without having an accident. There seems to be a known issue with the power steering on the Colorado. There was a previous recall on earlier year. I had made complaints and spoke to GM multiple times and they said it needed to go through the dealer. GM never mentioned any recall issue with power steering on previous years and offered no direction on possible issues as the truck sat for weeks on end with no resolution.

The electronic power steering failed while driving making the steering of the vehicle difficult and if my wife or child had been driving this could have resulted in an accident if they could not steer the vehicle without the power assistance. The instrument cluster displayed to service the power steering unit. Mechanics diagnostic is that it was the corrosion of water entering the system. Also that this I a known problem. There was a recall recently for 2015 models for what appears now to be a technical service bulletin for the newer years of the vehicle. This is a dangerous issue that seems to have now plagued multiple years of the Colorado pickup. The mechanic also stated that AUL service warranty (protective asset protection) denied the claim to repair as it is a known issue.... Currently attempting to speak with them to appeal the decision. The warranty company is also not above board as well as they have worded their contract to be misleading with provisions to deny claims due to common causes of failure. Realistically if Chevrolet did not address the problem of the 2015 model year the recall should be expanded.

When I put the truck in park it goes into park fine. I can turn the engine off but I can't remove the key because the ignition switch won't go all the way forward. The lights stay on and also the radio. I had to repeatedly start and stop the truck and move the gear shift selector to remove key. I had the same problem in February 2022. The dealer fixed it by replacing gear shift selector while under warranty. The problem was remedied. Said this was happening and there was a TSB about this problem. This problem was never consistent. Now in Aug. 2023 I am having the same problem. The truck is no longer under warranty and the dealer says that I must pay to have it diagnosed and fixed. Chevrolet is aware they have this problem with several different models and don't want to acknowledge it and take responsibility. There are several class action lawsuits filed about this. This is a safety issue because I just can't leave the truck with the key in the ignition. I looked online and have seen that Chevrolet has this problem with several models of different years. They should find a solution and have a recall to address this problem. The dealer also told me my truck was actually worth less if I were to trade it in because of this problem. Should have said something in 2019 as they knew about this problem since at least 2016. They fix the problem by replacing faulty parts with the same faulty parts.
