I've submitted a safety complaint #11733895. I wanted to give an update regarding GM Goodwill Assistance, which is 10% of $10,000 transmission replacement per Chevrolet. This is a known documented transmission defect from GM manufacturing, it is a major safety issue, the car was sold to me with GM/Chevrolet knowing about this issue, but they are putting the financial burden on the consumer. Diagnostic from Chevrolet confirms this defect and they basically are saying they won't help. This transmission should be 100% recalled for safety issues and I am just speechless it has not been. The random acceleration alone is extremely scary and totally unsafe. What do consumers have to do to get this recalled? Have a collision and kill or injure someone or myself? Something needs to be done. GM needs to take accountability and do the right thing RECALL THESE TRANSMISSIONS and fix the ones that need to be fixed.

The vehicle is experiencing a severe and dangerous transmission defect that manifests as intense shuddering and vibrations followed by instances of random, unintended acceleration. Specifically, while operating the vehicle at various speeds, the transmission fails to engage properly, causing a violent vibration/shudder. This is frequently followed by the vehicle surging or accelerating unexpectedly without increased pressure on the gas pedal. This condition creates a significant safety hazard as it compromises the driver's ability to maintain a constant speed and control the vehicle in traffic or during low-speed maneuvers. The random acceleration is unpredictable and poses an immediate risk of rear-end collisions or loss of vehicle control. General Motors (GM) has issued multiple Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) regarding this specific 8-speed transmission defect (shudder/vibration), yet they have failed to issue a safety recall. My vehicle began exhibiting these life-safety symptoms approximately two weeks after the 100,000-mile powertrain warranty expired in August 2025. A licensed transmission specialist has diagnosed the issue as a torque converter failure and transmission fluid contamination, consistent with the known defects identified in GM's own TSBs. Chevrolet has refused to remedy this safety defect at their expense, citing warranty expiration, despite their documented prior knowledge of the systemic nature of this failure. I am reporting this to NHTSA because the random acceleration component of this defect is a clear and present danger to myself and other motorists on the road.

Vehicle is doing a hard shift from first to second, severe shuddering, sometimes when braking vehicle acts like it wants to surge forward took to a transmission shop I have a bad torque converter and was told this is a problem with the 8 speed transmission from GM. This is a known issue with these transmissions that GM /dealership knew and refuse to fix. The vehicle stalled on me on a road at night where there's no stores, I'm a female alone on a dark road for about 30 minutes trying to get car to start. Luckily it did. This could've caused an accident and my safety was at risk being stranded alone at night. I was told to not drive the car until fixed. I do not have the funds to fix this issue and GM does not respond to requests, Chevrolet is not helping either.

These symptms progressively worsened over time and affected drivability and safty. Prior the failure, there were no warning lights or dashboard messages displayed. Based on professional diagnosis, they are consistent with internal transmission defects commonly reported for this model.(GM's-8 speed automatic transmition 8L45/8L90)Technical Service Bulletins TSB18-NA-335 and TSB16-NA-175. Chevrolet has denied reimbursement. The repairs performed to date have only provided temporary remedy, the issue remains ongoing and consistent with the known defects associated with the transmission.

I have noticed that my car is shuttering/vibrating. I feel it in the steering wheel/gas pedal to my seat. It starts at 35mph plus and at different speed intervals. I either have to decelerate or accelerate to get it to quit. My neighbor who is a mechanic at Maserati/Porsche dealer road with me to verify and also pulled up codes. None were set off. He researched complaints of same issues. Possible fixes could be from changing transmission fluid/flushes/torque converter replacement. Apparently a common issue problems reported. Under 80gs on odometer. Another reported high issue I had to take care myself. Was the back window coming unglued to top. The recalled 17s and 18s due to glue defects. I contacted GM/Chevy and the only thing they are willing to do is give me 230$ which doesn't even put a dent in the charge of a real fix.

Transmission failed and need to be replaced at about 60,300 miles, just after the warranty expired. Told by the dealership multiple times the hard downshifts and odd shift patterns were normal and not an issue. Turns out it was the transmission valve body failing, causing the entire transmission to fail. Components are not available for inspection. I was able to limp the car home and to the dealership as failure was mainly slippage. There were no warning lights. The transmission was serviced in at approx. 25,000 miles and wiring harness replaced.

I am reporting an issue with my 2019 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT RS involving a faulty torque converter. The vehicle began showing symptoms consistent with transmission shuddering and performance issues. After diagnostic evaluation at a certified Chevrolet dealership, I was informed the torque converter needs to be replaced and the transmission fluid flushed. Upon researching, I found that this problem is covered under a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) issued by GM for this specific model and year, indicating it's a known issue. However, my vehicle is now out of warranty, and GM has not issued a recall despite the safety and drivability concerns. I believe this defect should be investigated further, as it poses a risk to vehicle performance and potentially driver safety.

"A common issue with a 2019 Chevy Camaro convertible 6-cylinder experiencing problems with the temperature gauge is a faulty coolant temperature sensor, which can lead to inaccurate readings on the gauge, often showing a consistently cold temperature even when the engine is warmed up; this can be caused by a faulty sensor itself, a loose connection, or a damaged wire. 2019 Chevy Camaro transmission is shuddering. In other words it feels like my car is running over rubber strips on the road between 40 mph to 80mph. I know there is several TSBs that GM has put out on this issue with the A8. Went to Lynn Smith Chevrolet on 07/06/2023 and was told since my car is out of warranty it would cost me 625 dollars to have the transmission flushed and have the new synthetic transmission fluid in it. They said that’s the first step GM wants service depts to do. I’m sorry but if GM knows this is a problem then there should be a recall on it. I know there are already class action lawsuits on this problem. I can’t afford to have my transmission drained 2 or three 3 times. It is causing safety risk when you accelerate and lose power on the interstate or it is sluddering as you pick up speed at a red light.Thought the problem was my tires so had 2 new sets put on and realized it wasn’t the tires.

The rear window is separating from the roof. It seems to be a common problem with certain Camaros and other type GM convertibles. The original roof was replaced on this vehicle for same problem. The replaced rear window, roof is now separating from the roof again. (in less than 2 years since the original roof was replaced) GM/Chevrolet's only fix is to replace the entire roof. It appears to be a manufacturing defect with the glue/adhesive in the manufacturing process. Chevy will not honor or stand behind their product and want me to pay for the entire roof replacement. It is a known issue among Convertible Camaro owners. Chevy even issued a Technical service bulletin on this issue in November of 2019. Bulletin # 17-NA-216. It seems GM will only fix this issue if the vehicle within the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. I believe this is a safety issue because the rear window could shatter while driving or become loose and fly off and hit other vehicle while at highway speed.

I showed him the picture of another customer with the same issue that had his car covered under recall. There must be a part or design issue if both sides have broken with exact similarities at different times and they are the identical parts. Ray said to contact Cheverolet since the dealership cannot cover the repair. I contacted Chevrolet customer service at Ph# 8002221020 and that rep said, your car is not covered because it was manufactured at a different plant location. I asked what does it matter which manufacturing plant it was if it's identical parts? The rep had no answer. They were going to charge me $745 to fix the issue. I explained, this car has already been here for the exact same issue on the driver side and you replaced everything because it was under warranty now it happens on the passengers side and your not covering the cost. Attached is the invoice from Cox Chevrolet and the invoice with details of another customer.
