After researching the failure, the contact discovered that the failure might be associated with an undisclosed wiring harness failure. The contact was informed that the wiring harness was on back order from the manufacturer. The contact indicated that a co-worker received the same response from a different dealer after experiencing the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted regarding the failure. I am submitting this complaint regarding a recurring safety issue with the rear-view camera system in my 2014 Lincoln MKT. The camera intermittently fails to display a proper image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. Specifically, the screen either remains blank, displays a distorted image, or inverts the image entirely. These malfunctions significantly impair rear visibility and pose a safety hazard, particularly in environments with limited space or pedestrian traffic. I have narrowly avoided several incidents with other vehicles or pedestrians, due to this camera malfunction. I am aware that Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for similar rear-view camera defects affecting various models from the 2015 to 2019 production years. However, my vehicle—despite exhibiting identical symptoms—is not currently included in that recall. Given the nature of the defect and its potential to compromise driver and pedestrian safety, I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate this issue and consider expanding the scope of the existing recall to include the 2014 Lincoln MKT. I had an independent service center check the camera. The ASE-certified technician explained the issue appears to be a software problem that can only be handled by a Lincoln dealer. When I contacted a dealership, they said they were not aware of any fixes for the problem. When the camera malfunctions, a message pops up on my information screen in the vehicle that tells me "Camera is unavailable" and to "Contact the dealer." There were no other warning messages or lamps of any kind. I am prepared to provide photographic or video evidence of the malfunction upon request and am willing to cooperate with any further inquiries or inspections deemed necessary. There is a recall for this on different VIN for this year and car, but not this VIN. The electric power steering locks up unable to move when you hit a bump or try to turn into somewhere or just changing lanes. This has led to almost constant accidents happening. This has been inspected by an independent service center and confirmed this is related to the recall.

Shortly after leaving my home, I pulled onto the local road that takes me to the freeway. At this time I had noticed a pattern on the front panel of my panoramic sunroof which I had initially believed to be ice, as that is not uncommon for the environment I am in. Momentarily after this, I had merged onto the freeway where a cracking sound became prevalent. It was then when I realized there was no ice on my sunroof, it was the glass beginning to shatter. I immediately pulled over, as safety became a very imminent concern. After analyzing the front panel of the panoramic sunroof, I had attempted to take the vehicle off the freeway for further action as there was no major pieces of glass missing at the moment. After pulling off, the glass had suddenly completely broken, causing a very loud sound and a rush of air. It is important to note that there was zero impact made to the glass previous to the incident. This is a known issue from the Ford/Lincoln manufacturer in regards to their panoramic sunroofs that I happened to become a victim of.

The seat belts stopped retracting so we sprayed some wd40 in there to make sure everything can move but the seatbelts safety stop keeps engaging when you're trying to pull out the seatbelt. After a few times of getting the seatbelts out to use them they get stuck. They are not functioning at all how they should.

My 2014 Lincoln MKT has two moonroofs. The first one exploded on 9/12/22 while driving the car on a sunny, wind free day. Sounded like a gunshot hit the glass and was frightening. Car is 8 years old at time of incident. I see this has been an ongoing issue with Ford/Lincoln since 2007. These parts need t be recalled. The glass alone is $3300 with total 3 day repair over $5K! Had to find a glass vendor who could shrink wrap exterior/interior so glass would not fall into vehicle and rain would not enter vehicle. See class action lawsuits have been previously filed.

2014 Lincoln MKT, approx 80,000 miles, excellent condition. For the second time in two years now our factory installed panoramic roof has spontaneously exploded. First incident was January 21, 2020 and the second was July 15, 2022. Both times my husband was driving on the freeway and heard a loud explosion, sounded like gunshots inside the car. Both times the sound startled us so badly that a jerk reaction nearly sent us into the freeway wall. Glass shards raining down into the car. Upon researching I have come to know that several Ford and Lincoln models from 2008-2015ish have had this same exact issue. This glass shattering issue is a serious design flaw from the manufacturer that is going to get someone killed one day. Not only having glass flying off of your car while also raining down on you while you are driving, but the SOUND of the explosion is seriously shocking and terrifying. Also, because the design of the panoramic roofs have been modified it is very difficult for Ford to find replacements for our model. The first time we had to get a rental for over a month because they could only find a used part, which our auto body denied. This time our car has already been in the shop for over a month and our auto body has had TWO defective parts sent to them and Ford is now saying it could be another 60 days or so before finding another one. We are so scared to continue driving this car that once we get it back we are going to have to sell it. I am going to just have to pray that whomever might buy this car will not cause damage to themselves or others when the roof shatters next time. Lincoln/Ford needs to step up and either recall the vehicles with faulty design or come up with a permanent solution rather that just replacing a part they know is dangerous. They need to be held accountable before someone is seriously hurt or dies. (I have included several screen shots of other people reporting the same issue. I have way more than was allowed).

November 21, 2021, while driving on the HWY at about 65 MPH, the forward panoramic moon roof exploded. Simply exploded. Not hit by anything - no cars or trucks in front of us. Thank goodness, we had the interior part closed, or it would have exploded all over us. This was a very loud explosion! Thank goodness I did not lose control of the car.

On April 30, 2021 as I was driving down the road my steering wheel suddenly starting turning left to right involuntarily causing me to lose control of my car and crash. My vehicle is a total loss and I had just paid heavty deposit and financed a Lincoln Mkt with a dealership that never disclosed to me that my vehicle I just purchased had a recall on it that had been issued last year. Now I am out of my deposit, no car, criminal charges for causing an accident that I could not control, and a company that was well aware of the recall gets all their money plus some and I'm the one in the wrong. Doesn't seem right does it? Unfortuntly, the claims adjuster that inspected the vehicle to give an estimate failed to check the rear of the vehicle since all damage was in the front and driver side. I informed my insurance rep of the recall and have sent information on the recall along with the crash report of the incident. I do not recall seeing any warning lamps before this incident but I did feel that something was strange with the cars manuvering ability when accelrating or attempting to pass. It would kind of suddenly start a short of shimming of the vehicle that I have never experienced before in other vehicles driven previous to this one. Those signs were first noticed the second day after purchasing the car and two weeks later the incident occured.

NOTICED SLUGGISHNESS ON INTERSTATE AND EXITED AT THE FIRST AVAILABLE EXIT THAT WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE AWAY. WHEN EXITING INTERSTATE AND COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT THE STOP SIGN, IT DIED AND WOULD NOT START. IT WAS BLOCKING THE SINGLE TURNING LANE. I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP BEFORE WE BOUGHT IT. IT WAS AN EMPLOYEE'S VEHICLE THAT WORKED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I SUSPECT THE SO-CALLED REPAIR WAS PENCIL WHIPPED AND NOT REALLY REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP. UNABLE TO START CAR. INITIALLY NO KEY DETECTED APPEARED AS A WARNING WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. STOPPED AND WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. CHANGED REMOTE KEY BATTERY BUT STILL DID NOT START. RADIO WORKED. I COULD NOT RAISE THE WINDOWS OR LOCK THE DOORS MANUALLY/ WITH THE BUTTONS INSIDE THE CAR. I CALLED ROAD SIDE SERVICE THEY TOLD ME ABOUT THE BACKUP SLOT. CAR STARTED. IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TOOK CAR BATTERY TO BE TESTED IT WAS AT 96%, REPLACED REMOTE KEY BATTERY'S AGAIN. STILL DID NOT START. TRIED THE BACKUP SLOT BUT DID NOT START. NEXT DAY STARTED WITHOUT A PROBLEM TOOK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC ALL SYSTEMS WERE FINE & THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE MY PROBLEM. THEY DID SEE THE NO KEY DETECTED AND CLEANED THE KEYS AND REPLACED THE KEY BATTERYS. I DROVE AWAY AND AND STOPPED AT THE STORE AND AGAIN UNABLE TO START. THIS INTERMITTENTLY INABILITY TO START THE CAR HAS CONTINUED. I CAN DRIVE FOR 1-3 DAY OR 1-2 HOURS WITHOUT A PROBLEM THEN IT WILL NOT START. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY TELL ME ALL SYSTEMS CONTINUE TO CHECK OUT FINE ACCORDING TO THE COMPUTER. AS OF TODAY NO MATTER WHAT I TRY. I AM UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE NOW. THIS IS DAY 4 OF NOT BEING ABLE TO START MY CAR. I AM MAKING PAYMENTS ON A CAR JUST SITTING IN MY DRIVE WAY NOW UNABLE TO START. I HAVE LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND DISCOVERED OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THEY HAVE FOUND PROBLEMS CENTERED AROUND THE STARTER. I NEED A DEPENDABLE VEHICLE. I AM GOING TO HAVE IT TOWED IN.

AT 2:30 IN THE AFTERNOON OUR CHAUFFEUR WAS SOUTHBOUND ON I 69 WITH A CUSTOMER IN CAR WHEN THEY HEARD A LOUD GUNSHOT LIKE BANG. GOT OFF ON THE NEXT EXIT TO INSPECT VEHICLE AND FOUND HOLE IN ROOF. PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE RIDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. WITHOUT ANY WARNING WE HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION LIKE A GUN HAD BEEN SHOT INSIDE THE CAR WE IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE GLASS CRACKED IN THE MOONROOF AND NOTICED LITTLE BITS OF GLASS ALL IN THE CAR AND ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS, I HAD MY GRANDCHILDREN WITH ME AND THEY WERE TERRIFIED. I WAS ABLE TO STOP WHEN I FOUND A SAFE PLACE AND CALLED MY HUSBAND TO COME GET US. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY THE DEALER AND LINCOLN I WOULD NEED TO FILE THE CLAIM ON MY AUTO INSURANCE. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE AND LINCOLN HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. PANORAMIC GLASS ROOF SUDDENLY BROKE OFF WHEN DRIVING. NO CARS AHEAD OF ME, GLASS JUST EXPLODED LIKE MY CAR WAS GETTING SHOT. NOW, ONE DAY AFTER, ROOF HAS A BIG WHOLE IN THE MIDDLE. AFTER A RESEARCH ONLINE, THERE ARE MANY CASES LIKE MINE THAT HAVE HAPPENED ON SAME KIND CAR, SO THIS SEEMS A MANUFACTORY ISSUE TO ME. LINCOLN MKT 2014 HAS STALLED THREE TIMES. I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN IT TO A DEALER FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR. I HEARD ABOUT A RECALL OF CERTAIN LINCOLN MKT'S WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE BACK IN AUGUST. THERE WAS MENTION THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL INJECTOR AND THAT THE CAR COULD POTENTIALLY STALL. I PROMPTLY MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN THERE, THEY TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS AND HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO EVEN ORDER; THAT I SHOULD WAIT FOR A NOTICE FROM FORD/LINCOLN. I DID RECEIVE A LETTER A COUPLE WEEKS AGO BUT IT SAID TO WAIT UNTIL THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTS ME THAT THEY HAVE PARTS OR CONTACT THEM IF MY CAR SHOWS "SYMPTOMS", WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST. ON SATURDAY, MY CAR LITERALLY STOPPED WORKING WITH NOT MORE THAN A 2 MINUTE WARNING. I HAD BEEN DRIVING IT ON ERRANDS. I STOPPED AT A FRIENDS'S HOUSE OF ABOUT 15 MINUTES. I HAD TURNED THE CAR OFF. WHEN I LEFT MY FRIEND'S HOUSE, I WAS DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET-25 MPH. SUDDENLY, THE CAR FELT FUNNY. IT WAS HESITATING. I THOUGHT IT WAS IN THE WRONG GEAR. I LOOKED DOWN, SAW IT WASN'T AND W/IN A MINUTE, THE CAR WAS DEAD. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. OVER THE NEXT 1.75 HOURS AS I WAITED FOR LINCOLN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, I TRIED TO START THE CAR. IT WOULD START BUT IMMEDIATELY STALL OUT. THE ELECTRICAL WAS STILL WORKING. DATE OF OCCURRENCE: 3/31/2016 TIME OF OCCURRENCE: 7:18AM TEMPERATURE AT THE TIME IT HAPPENED: 50 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT PHYSICAL LOCATION: KENT STATE UNIVERSITY HOTEL, 215 S. DEPYSTER ST, KENT, OH AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I FOUND SO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR BREAKAGE... INDICATES THAT THERE HAS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OR POSSIBLY THE TEMPERING OF THE GLASS ITSELF. WHILE THERE WAS NO DANGER IN MY SITUATION, IT IS EASY TO SEE HOW THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF IT OCCURRED UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES. TO START WE HAVE 5 OTHER LINCOLN MKTS WITH THE SAME CONCERN IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS, 4 WHICH WERE COVERED UNDER BASE WARRANTY. THE GLASS ROOF DURING WHAT SEEMS TO BE TEMPERATURE CHANGES POPS. THIS TIME LINCOLN WILL NOT COVER THIS EVEN THOUGH IT ONLY HAS 25,000 MILES ON IT. I WENT THROUGH REGULAR FORD CHANNELS AND THEY REFUSED FULL COVERAGE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THEY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH OTHER VEHICLES AS WELL . THE CONDITIONS AT THE TIME THE ROOF POPPED . CAR WAS PARKED DURING DAY AND THROUGH THE NIGHT IN A SECURED LIT CAMERA MONITORED PARKING LOT. THE NEXT MORNING ROOF WAS SHATTERED.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Lincoln MKT and Ford Flex and Taurus vehicles with the Police Interceptor or SHO Performance Pack. The rear suspension toe links may fracture due to stress on the rear suspension.

Risk: A fractured rear toe link will cause a sudden change in vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear suspension toe links, free of charge. Remedy parts are not currently available. Owners were notified about the recall on March 3, 2020. A second notice will be mailed when remedy parts become available, which is currently expected to be the end of September 2020. The recall began October 28, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or Lincoln customer service at 1-800-521-4140. Ford's number for this recall is 20S04.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 2, 2010, to November 30, 2013; 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured August 25, 2011, to November 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured September 12, 2011, to November 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.

Risk: If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Lincoln MKT vehicles with a limousine or hearse preparation package, manufactured March 6, 2012, to March 10, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the vacuum pump relay may overheat due to an internal fault or contamination.

Risk: If the vacuum pump relay overheats, there is an increased risk of a vehicle fire.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the vacuum pump relay with a new electro-mechanical relay, free of charge. The recall began on July 6, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S10.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with 3.5L GTDI Ecoboost engines and 2013-2015 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor vehicles. A component within the fuel pump electric module (PEM) may overheat causing a loss of electrical power to the fuel pump.

Risk: A loss of power to the fuel pump will cause the engine to stall or prevent the vehicle from starting, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel PEM part number and replace the fuel PEM, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on December 1, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S31.
