While driving under normal conditions with no collision or impact, the side curtain airbag in my Dodge Charger Scat Pack deployed spontaneously. The deployment caused the headliner and pillar trim to rupture and released what appeared to be metal fragments and more. Occupants sustained scratches and narrowly avoided facial injury. I discovered there’s a recall on this airbag as this is a known issue. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Dodge dealership for diagnosis and repair. During this process, i was informed that the VIN has an active safety recall related to the airbag/SRS system. The A/C evaporator core in my 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat has failed twice within a short period of ownership. The first failure occurred at approximately 20K miles in 2022, when the air conditioning suddenly stopped blowing cold air. The dealership diagnosed a leaking evaporator core and replaced it under warranty. On [XXX] at approximately 50k, the exact same failure occurred again — loss of refrigerant and no cooling. The vehicle again required replacement of the evaporator core, a repair that involves removing the entire dashboard and is extremely labor-intensive and expensive. This appears to be a recurring defect rather than normal wear. I have learned that many other Dodge Charger and Challenger owners report identical evaporator failures, often multiple times, suggesting a possible design or manufacturing flaw with the HVAC evaporator used in these vehicles. Loss of A/C may seem like a comfort issue, but in extreme heat it can create a driver-safety risk due to overheating, window defogging problems, and driver fatigue. I live in Arizona where daytime temperatures regularly climb above 80 degrees, even in the winter. A major component like an evaporator should not repeatedly fail in a late-model vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether 2019–2022 Dodge Charger/Challenger vehicles are experiencing an abnormal rate of evaporator core failures that may warrant a recall, extended warranty, or technical service bulletin. Dodge has acknowledged a known issue impacting paddle shift equipped Chargers and Challengers. When using paddle shifters, the engine will downshift when the driver upshifts, sometimes causing torque jerking and acceleration jumps. August 1st 2023, my vehicle was parked in my driveway, approx 1pm PST, i heard a loud bang come from outside. I went to the vehicle and found that the cylinder that would normally hold air for hte side curtain airbag had exploded inside of the vehicle. It sent metal shrapnel all over the interiour of the cabin, into the drivers headrest and then thru the roof of the vehicle. The airbag did NOT deploy only the metal cylinder exploded. On July 1, 2023, I was driving on the I-20 going approximately 70 mph close to mile marker 167 in Talladega County, Alabama, when something hit my windshield causing me to swerve off the road and hitting the side railing. The the front end and the driver's side of the vehicle was smashed in and my vehicle was totaled. However, none of the airbags in my 2020 Dodge Charger ever deployed. I did not require medical assistance immediately after the accident, but my concern is that the airbags should have deployed during the accident during the accident. By the airbags not going off my safety was put at risk. If this is a problem in other 2020 Dodge Chargers other people's safety is being put at risk. The vehicle was inspected by my insurance, Progressive, for property damage evaluation. They concluded that the vehicle was totaled. There were no signs or warnings prior to the accident that there was an issue with the airbags. I have also checked for recalls using the vehicle's VIN and there were no safety recalls.

Through conversations with a Dodge Certified Tech, this is ongoing and known issue with Dodge (RAM) trucks, dodge chargers etc. Curious as to why a safety recall has not been issued, with reports and complaints found online spanning back 2-3 years now. My car, after just 2 years of ownership, the windshield wipers have failed in operation. For 1 month, intermittent wiper functions were non-existent, 3 clicks would only get me "on all the time, slow speed", nothing else. As of yesterday 11/01/22, when I used turn signals to change lanes on highway, my wipers turned on to slow speed and would not shut off. (Turn signals and wipers on same lever, left side of steering column). I have had to pull the relay/fuse for wipers to get them to shut off. As I understand it, per NC state law, as part of safety inspection, windshield wipers have to be operational for it to be legal on the roadway. So now I am potentially operating a vehicle that should not be on the roadway. Dealership can't get me into a shop until 1 week or more out, no guarantee on parts due to manufacturing delays and backorders. Another note, my car insurance company refuses to allow me a rental vehicle, when I pay hundreds of dollars every year, with no filed claims. This issue should be looked into for a safety recall, with a number of reports being shown, and within some states, legally takes the vehicle off the road, unable to be driven. While traveling on the highway at approx. 70mph at night the vehicle shutdown completely resulting in the loss of throttle, power steering and lights. This is an safety issue that can cause death or serious bodily harm to the driver and other drivers along a motorway as the vehicle is no longer able to be seen in low light situations and the vehicle is unable to be properly controlled due to the loss of power steering. Issue was deemed due to loose bolts for the power distribution center.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, and Chrysler 300 vehicles. During manufacturing, the windshield may not have been properly bonded to the vehicle, allowing it to detach in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 212, "Windshield Mounting."

Risk: A windshield that separates from the vehicle during a crash can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will remove and replace the front windshield urethane sealant, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 31, 2021. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US LLC's number for this recall is Y47.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Dodge Charger Pursuit vehicles equipped with a "stealth mode." When stealth mode is selected, the backup camera rearview image will not display when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."

Risk: The lack of a back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update body control module software to disable stealth mode when the vehicle is shifted into "Reverse", free of charge. The recall began October 22, 2020. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is W62.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) (Stellantis) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles. The right and left side curtain air bag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect.

Risk: An inflator rupture may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in injury or death.

Remedy: Dealers will replace both side curtain air bags, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning February 20, 2025. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 19B.
