Seat BeltsJul 2026 · ODI 11748355Details +

I purchased this vehicle believing it was safe to drive. After the sale, I discovered that the driver's seatbelt was completely broken and not properly secured. This serious safety defect was never disclosed to me before I purchased the vehicle. Had I known about this issue, I would not have purchased the vehicle or would have required it to be repaired before the sale. Selling a vehicle with a defective seatbelt without disclosing the defect put my safety and the safety of my passengers at risk. I am requesting that this matter be investigated and that appropriate action be taken regarding the seller's failure to disclose this serious safety issue.

I am reporting multiple safety-related issues involving my 2016 Chrysler 200 S. On 02/06/2024, after an oil change at a dealership, the underbody skid plate bolts were not reinstalled. While driving, the skid plate fell and I lost control of the vehicle, creating a serious safety hazard. No warning indicators were present prior to this failure. The issue was identified immediately after leaving the dealership and is not properly documented in service records. In July 2022, following a battery replacement by the same dealership, the vehicle repeatedly lost power and stalled, leaving me stranded multiple times. I paid for diagnostic testing, but there is no documentation confirming proper diagnosis or repair. I was later advised incorrect hardware had been installed. On 02/27/2026, I was told the check engine light was on and diagnostic codes were cleared without repair. There is no documentation of the codes or repairs performed. I was also informed on 11/19/2022 that parts were ordered for a safety recall. From that date until 02/27/2026, I was repeatedly told parts were unavailable. I scheduled repair and dropped off the vehicle on 03/13/2026. I received notice that repair had begun, but later discovered the vehicle had not been serviced at all. No explanation was provided. Additionally, service records are inaccurate. A vehicle history report shows service on 03/17/2026 at a dealership I have never visited. The vehicle was not serviced anywhere on that date. These issues involve loss of control, repeated stalling, improper repairs, failure to complete a recall, and inaccurate reporting. Documentation is incomplete or missing. Supporting documents are available.

While driving, my 2016 Chrysler 200 (3.6L V6) experienced a sudden and complete electrical failure. All systems shut down simultaneously, including the dashboard, engine, power steering assist, and electrical accessories. The vehicle coasted to a stop and would not restart—no crank, no dash lights, no response. After allowing the vehicle to cool for approximately 30–45 minutes, electrical power returned and the vehicle restarted normally. This failure mode is identical to the Power Distribution Center (PDC) connector defect that resulted in a recall for the 2015 Chrysler 200. My vehicle is the same platform with the same component architecture, yet no recall exists for the 2016 model year. This is a serious safety defect that creates a risk of crash, loss of steering assist, and loss of vehicle control while driving.

During acceleration, thick white smoke began to come out tail pipe. Car instantly turns off in the middle of the street in rush hour traffic while I had my 4 year old daughter in the car. Police threatened to impound car if not moved immediately. Had to pay a hefty tow fee twice to get the car to the dealership. Somehow oil and coolant had mixed together in the engine. Dealer said I’ll need a completely new engine. I’ll have to pay 1600 to get a diagnosis of the “exact” problem once they tear down the engine. At that point warranty company will come out to see IF they can help. I was quoted a possible 12,000 job. I’ve had this car for 7 months and had done all routine work since. I’m so hurt smh

My air bag light has been flickering on and off for quite some time now. I’ve taken it to a professional mechanic as well as Gerber and they have both fixed the issue by unplugging and replugging the harness underneath the passenger seat. I was told this issue with this type of Chrysler has been brought by the shop numerous times and I may have missed a recall repair on this vehicle. I have repeated this method numerous of times but at this point it is an inconvenience and safety issue. How am I able to receive a recall notice to get this issue fixed? I can be contacted via email [XXX] . Respectfully, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle has 46,000 miles on odometer. A year ago the "Service Airbag System" light would intermittently illuminate. It is now staying lit all the time. I was speaking with an acquaintance as they had the same vehicle. Theirs caught on fire under the seat in the electrical connection box for the airbag. I took it to a few of our local mechanics and they say it is a substantial safety issue as they pulled the codes B0028-13 and B0020-13. Right side and left side seat deployment squib circuit open. The airbags will not deploy upon impact. The consensus from the mechanics was that Chrysler has known this is a common problem in these vehicles and needs to address the repair. After calling Chrysler and finding out they do know this is a problem in design it will still cost $4000.00 to repair as it's not covered under warranty. This vehicle is unsafe and it makes me wonder how many people are driving these vehicles not knowing the potential danger. It will be going to the dealership when one of them can "fit me in".

I took my car to Carman Dodge Chrylser Dealer located 196 s Dupont hwy , new castle de, 19720. My car was scheduled for a recall repair u90 and power train software update. I took my car in 4-10-25 and it stayed overnight until 4-11-25. When receiving my car I was presented with new issues that caused a no bus code and radio died. My car had no internal issues prior to taking my car to the dealer for recall repairs. I have all the documentation and employees names for the service department. I was told by my advisor Lance Grey and supervisor Joseph Troboletti that there is nothing else they can do. Other than these new problems that occurred just so happened to be coincidental. And in order to get things replace I would have to wait until July and I may be eligible for a small discount on the parts. So that means I would have to wait 3 months to get repairs and drive a car with my children with no working windows , radio and etc.

I have two Chrysler vehicles of the same timeframe. This 200 C and a 2017 Pacifica. Both of them have the 3.6 L Penta star V6. Both of them have had the same problem. Where the oil filter goes it is a plastic housing that goes to a metal oil cooler assembly. That housing becomes dry and brittle due to heat and cracks causing significant oil leaks. The van had to be repaired by the dealer at the cost of almost $1100. My 200 C started smoking real bad and actually had a small fire start on the back side of the engine that I was thankfully able to put out real quick. This is a known problem and from what I understand Chrysler has re-engineered these parts. This has been happening to a lot of these vehicles. I believe Chrysler should be forced to repair these vehicles via recall. This is ridiculous. I’m looking at close to the same amount to get this fixed and that assuming the small fire didn’t do any damage.

On 08/22/2023, I took my vehicle into an auto service repair center to have diagnostics done due to a creeking sound. I was worried something could be wrong, and should any issues not be addressed or resolved, I could do more damage by continuing to drive my vehicle. Unfortunately I was advised that the sound was due to a rear suspension knuckle issue, a part that can't just be repaired based on how it was engineered and that the whole thing would need to be replaced. Due to the diagnosis I received, I knew it was imperative for me to see if there were any open recalls and review any notations from other Chrysler vehicle owners on said issue. I was able to locate, within just a few moments, that there are several manufacturers that have open recalls due to rear suspension knuckle and bushing problems. I contacted Chrysler Customer Service via email on 08/22/2023, regarding the rear suspension problems, especially since this seems to be a very common issue as noted on several online forums, from Chrysler owners all over the country. Some owners have different Chrysler models, however many happen to be the 200, all of which, are experiencing the same issue. I received a timely response to my email from Chrysler Customer Service to which i appreciate. The email stated: "we are aware of this and are doing the best we can to resolve this." Can you please advise further on said response? With Chrysler being aware of this issue, what is currently being done? What can Chrysler owners expect as far as a resolution and when should we expect a resolution or statement on this issue from Chrysler?

B0028-13 is the code that appears when a scanner tool is used because the "service airbag system" warning message came on. Reading the other U-Tube post concerning this problem it seems to be common and a possible danger to the driver and the front passenger.

Service BrakesMay 2023 · ODI 11524431Details +

2 weeks ago on approximately May 14th I was backing out of my drive way and my brake pedal was hard and I was barely able to stop my car. It takes approximately 3 to 4 car lengths to fully stop at 10 mph. I replaced the brakes and bled the brakes properly but I have come to the conclusion that the brake booster has gone bad. My safety and others is at risk due to the length of time it takes to stop and the lack of stopping power. I am unable to take it to a dealer as it doesn't run at the present time. The abs and park brake lights were on and the dash says to service electronic braking system. I am trying to get this fixed asap as I need transportation to and from work and I am not trying to put my wife or son in any danger.

Car is stalling for unknown reason without any warning or light appearing on dash. Feeling unsafe especially when driving on the highway because I never know when it will happen. Has been happening every day for the past 3 days. Happened in the beginning after a couple months of having the car and the first time I took it in, they couldn't find anything wrong or replicate the problem.

Wire connector under the passenger seat disables the airbag and turns on the SRS light with the code B0028-13 Right side Airbag circuit open. I have noticed that FCA is aware of the problem as the fix is to replace the wire Connectors under the seat. As an alignment mechanic I am in and out of a lot of vehicles and just about all of the 2015 to 2017 Chrysler 200s I have worked on have this code, some also have B0020-13 which is the left side seat air bag circuit open.

I have to start my car and let it run for 20 minutes at least at a time to get the temperature gauge to have 4 or 5 notches, before I can take off or it will immediately die.. no matter the temperature outside I can't just ever get in it and go or it will just shut off. It's like I quit giving it the gas. It starts back up usually after 2 tries. It acts like I'm not giving it gas, just stops..

About 2 weeks ago , my car began malfunctioning and randomly shutting off while driving. The car gives no indication that there is an issue before hand which is dangerous. It has happened to me while entering the freeway and while on regular streets. In addition, when this happens, my gearshift somehow gets stuck which makes me unable to move the car. Sometimes I cannot turn the car off, it would get stuck running. The shift would malfunction illuminating other shifts even though it is stuck. This issue has happened to me again in the wee hours of this morning at 3am on a dark road. I feared for me life… I see that this is an ongoing issue in many complaints that I see but there has been no resolve from the manufacturer. Please help.

SteeringOct 2016 · 16V589000Details +

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2016 Chrysler 200 vehicles manufactured May 24, 2016, to May 25, 2016. Multiple chassis fastener joints may not have been tightened to the proper torque specification.

Risk: If the chassis fastener joints are improperly torqued they may loosen and fail or fall out, reducing steering and handling capability and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the joints and tighten or replace the fasteners, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on September 2, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S59.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

Risk: If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.
