Driving down interstate at 74 MPH when engine acted like it wasn't accelerating and I was able to get off on an exit when car died had to have it towed to a chevrolet dealership. Engine wouldn't turn over at all. So Chevrolet did a visual inspection and said a valve spring on #8 cylinder had broke and they needed to tear into it further. So for another $1160.00 they would tear the engine down further to see what damage had been done. Chevrolet never notified me that they had a TSB on valve spring issue. Now my engine is no good. General Motors will give no assistance on repair. My engine shut down at 74 mph no longer running on an interstate.

Torque converter shudder and noise (definitely and issue related transmission). Around 1,500 RPM the vehicle starts to experience the shudder, shaking, and noise. Additionally there is a feeling of a surge in power, like if the vehicle shifts to an upper gear un intentionally, the vehicle launches forward occasionally (lurching forward). There is absolutely no issue while the vehicle idles, not at low or high RPM. The issue only occurs while the vehicle is in motion and at around 1,500 RPM. Using a V4 to V8 delete (Range Technology RA003B AFM/DFM Disabler) helps the issue significantly but it's still an issue. If that disabler is removed the issue is extremely pronounced. I purchased this vehicle as a used vehicle. I wouldn't have purchased the vehicle if I had the slightest idea of such a major issue with the vehicle.

WheelsNov 2024 · ODI 11623627Details +

The factory supplied OEM GM wheels on this vehicle are cracking in the rims. This is not due to striking any road hazards whatsoever, there is simply a manufacturing defect within the wheel itself. My vehicle is a 2015, but only has 23000 miles on it. My rear left tire developed an air leak which was the initial hint that something was wrong. The crack was confirmed as the cause by my auto shop. I had this repaired via a weld, but the future structural soundness of the wheel is suspect. The shop has repaired many Corvette wheels like mine and most have come back again for the same problem. I had the other wheels inspected and found out the left front wheel is cracked as well. I am replacing the wheels with mono block forged wheels from an aftermarket supplier at my own expense due to having no confidence in the GM wheels. A wheel coming apart at high speed is an obvious safety hazard to myself and others on the road. GM is shirking any responsibility for this manufacturing defect. There are thousands of threads about this issue all over the Corvette forums. It is shameful that a vehicle that costs over six figures should have this issue. I have never had this sort of problem with any other vehicle I have ever owned throughout the decades, not even entry level vehicles. This really should be a safety recall.

The transmission flutters when shifting on my 2015 Corvette. A potential catastrophic failure could cause a fire from transmission fluid hitting the hot exhaust. General Motors is aware of the issue and has issued a TSB. I believe a potential fire and or collision exists if transmission fluid spills on the pavement. transmission fluid could cause spinouts of vehicles on road behind a car with failure. My vehicle has been experiencing this for the last couple months. Two different dealerships offer to change the fluid in the transmission but no guarantee the internal components have sustained damage.

Previous claim w/NHTSA was filed on wrong vehicle. I am filing this complaint so that it can be associated to the correct vehicle. I was in a passenger side and rear collision resulting in serious injury and permanent impairment which resulted in a total loss of the vehicle and multiple surgeries as well as prolonged and continued impairments and care. I was struck in the passenger side door by a truck crossing 3 lanes into my 4th lane as i sat idol at a stop light, the extreme impact blew holes in the side walls of my tires. i was pushed me into the median in which i ricocheted off of and was hit a second time by the same truck tearing into the hatch and bending the frame of the vehicle declared a total loss. not one of the airbags deployed and the seat belt failed to restrain me. resulting in severe whiplash, TBI, torn rotator cuff and bicep tear, permanent loss of hearing in my right ear and a cranial fracture, back and neck injuries, hip and intestinal blockage(twisted). At the time of the accident NHTSA, dealer and GM ran VIN due to the suspicion of air bags and seatbelt failure there were no known recalls on my vehicle or VIN at the time. the first time i was notified VIN was confirmed on recall due to the vehicle being left in "test" mode was 8/13/2020 which i immediately filed a claim with report of injury related accident with corporate and they opened a claim and 30 days later stated that my claim was outside of the 3 yr statute of limitations. GM and dealer failed to file the recall in a timely manner with known issues as early as 2014 resulting in my vehicle not being repaired prior to the accident. I believe this to be a Repose Statute in Colorado that is 6 years from incident and would like to file a claim against the dealer and GM for failure to properly notify of recall. failure to notify me of the recall is negligence which resulted in permanent injury and impairment as well as continued medical care which could have been prevented.

THE WINDSHIELD IN THE C7 CORVETTES CRACK FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE, AND IT SEEMS THAT GM/CHEVROLET IS COMPLETELY IGNORING IT. APPARENTLY, THERE IS SOME KIND OF WELDING/MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT CAUSES RUBBING ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING THEM TO CRACK. THIS CAN OBSTRUCT THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER AND IS UNSAFE. A SMALL CRACK DEVELOPED ON THE INSIDE RIM OF ONE OF MY REAR WHEELS AS I WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHEN "LOW TIRE PRESSURE" CAME UP ON MY SCREEN. . I WAS 500 MILES FROM HOME WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE TIRE WAS LEAKING. I WENT TO A LOCAL TIRE DEALER. HE DISCOVERED THE CRACK AND SAID THAT IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 5 DAYS TO GET A REPLACEMENT. I NEEDED TO GET HOME SO HE PUT SOME STICKY TIRE GOO ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CRACK AND INFLATED THE TIRE TO 50 PSI. AFTER ABOUT 400 MILES ON MY TRIP HOME, THE PRESSURE WAS ABOUT 24 PSI. I INFLATED IT BACK TO 45 PSI AND MADE IT HOME SAFELY.

WINDSHIELD MOUNTING STRESS CRACK. WHILE INSIDE MY GARAGE TODAY, I FOUND A LARGE 25 INCH LONG CRACK IN THE UPPER DRIVERS SIDE CORNER OF MY 2015 CORVETTE. IT'S AS IF I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT, BUT NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE! GM SAID IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM.

BOTH OF MY OEM REAR WHEELS (SPECTRA GRAY - 10 SPOKE), HAVE DEVELOPED CRACKS REQUIRING REPLACEMENT AT MY EXPENSE. DESPITE MY CORVETTE BEING ON WARRANTY AND A HIGH PERFORMANCE, SPORTS CAR WHICH IS REGULARLY SERVICED, THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO REPLACE THESE WHEELS, EXCEPT AT MY EXPENSE, CITING THAT POOR ROAD CONDITIONS IN CALIFORNIA ARE BLAME FOR THE FRACTURES, RUNNING HORIZONTALLY ON THE RIM LIP. THE FRACTURES CREATE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION GIVEN HIGH TORQUE LEVELS, LOW PROFILE TIRES WITH A WIDE STANCE. THE TIRES AND THE SUSPENSION ARE DESIGNED FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE, AND HIGH G FORCE, BUT WHEELS ARE APPARENTLY FLAWED FOR THE DESIGNED TOLERANCES IMPOSED BY DRIVING A HIGH PERFORMANCE CORVETTE. MY CAR RAPIDLY LOSS AIR PRESSURE AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND THE AIR PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ACTIVATED IN BOTH OCCASIONS, WARNING OF THE HAZARDOUS CONDITION.

I'VE ALMOST BEEN HIT TWICE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC ON A CITY STREET WITH THIS CAR. SHIFTING WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS COLD INTO 2ND GEAR FROM 1ST GEAR IS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE AND APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM BASED ON MY INTERNET SEARCH. SEVERAL TIMES I'VE PULLED INTO TRAFFIC AND COULDN'T SHIFT IT INTO 2ND GEAR. BY THEN THE CAR IS SLOWING DOWN WITH TRAFFIC BEARING DOWN ON IT AND YOU HAVE TO SLOW DOWN EVEN MORE TO GO BACK TO 1ST GEAR. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS IS NORMAL BUT I DISAGREE BECAUSE IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE TO REV THE ENGINE HIGHER AND GO DIRECTLY INTO THIRD GEAR TO PROTECT MY LIFE.

WHEN I TOOK THE CAR INTO A DISCOUNT TIRE STORE TO HAVE NEW TIRES PUT ON THE BACK AT ABOUT 15,600 MILES ON THE CAR CRACKS WERE FOUND ON THE INSIDE RIM WHERE TIRE BEAD SEALS OF BOTH BACK WHEELS. PROBLEM WAS IMMEDIATELY REPORTED TO DEALER WHO VERIFIED CRACKS, BUT DEALER AND GM REFUSED TO REPLACE UNLESS I PURCHASE NEW WHEELS FOR DISCOUNTED PRICE OF $1,100.00 FOR REAR WHEELS ONLY. SPOKE WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF GM ENGINEERING AND FOUND PROBLEM IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH REAR WHEEL CRACKING GOING BACK SEVERAL YEARS WITH CAST CHINA MADE WHEELS ON CORVETTE Z06 AND ZR1 MODELS. I WAS TOLD GM CORVETTE CHIEF ENGINEER HAS POSTED INFORMATION ON THE WHEEL CRACKING PROBLEM ON CORVETTE FORUM AND ONLY WAY TO NOT HAVE WHEEL CRACKING PROBLEM ON REPLACEMENT WHEELS WOULD BE TO NOT DRIVE ON ROADS WITH BUMPS OR POT HOLES. THEY AGREED THIS WAS NOT REALISTIC BUT GM STANDS FIRM ON PAYMENT FOR NEW WHEELS WITH NO ASSURANCE THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. MY COMPLAINT WAS CLOSED AT GM AS CUSTOMER DECLINED REDUCED PRICE OFFER AND IS DISSATISFIED. CRACKING WHEELS SHOULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND ESPECIALLY WITH CARS THAT HAVE THIS MUCH POWER TO THE WHEELS AND ARE CAPABLE OF THE SPEEDS THESE MODEL CARS CAN OBTAIN. THIS IS TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE OF GM TO ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN AND NOT RECALL THE WHEELS AND REPLACE THEM WITH ONES THAT DO NOT CRACK, ESPECIALLY ON CARS WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE.

WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SUSPENSION COLLAPSED TO THE STREET. THIS HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC AT ABOUT 40MPH. WE WERE TRAVELING ON HWY 24 NE IN COLORADO SPRINGS HEADING TO HOME NEAR KANSAS CITY. AS DESCRIBED IN A RE CALL WITH 43 OTHER CORVETTES THE RECALL NOTICE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V031000. BUT OUR 2015 WAS BUILT ON AUG 12 2014 AND IS NOT INCLUDED. WE HAD JUST COMPLETED AN 8 DAY DRIVE THROUGH MANY COLORADO MOUNTAIN ROADS WHICH WITH THIS KIND OF FAILURE WOULD CERTAINLY HAD THE POTENTIAL OF KILLING MY WIFE AND ME. WE ARE EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT THIS HAPPENED AT A LOW SPEED IN A STRAIGHT LINE. SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED WE HAD A SUSPENSION UPGRADE SOFTWARE ONLY ON OUR CORVETTE. WE DID HAVE SOME SYMPTOMS OF EXTRA SWAY WHEN ROUNDING CORNERS, BUT WHEN WE PUT THE DRIVE MODE TO TRACK THIS WENT AWAY. HAD WE KNOWN THAT THE SYMPTOMS WERE NOT RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE WE WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE CORVETTE TO A DEALER WHILE WE WERE ON VACATION.

2015 CORVETTE STINGRAY Z51 - 8 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER. WITH ONLY 7,500 MILES ON THE CAR IT STARTED TO RUN JERKY AND RPMS WOULD FLUCTUATE FOR NO REASON (ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN FULLY WARMED UP). OFTEN FELT LIKE DRIVING ON A WASHBOARD DIRT ROAD. AFTER A COLD START, THERE WAS A DELAY AFTER SHIFTING INTO DRIVE. WHEN IT ENGAGED AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS IT WOULD DO SO VIOLENTLY, LURCHING THE CAR FORWARD SUDDENLY. DEALER DIAGNOSED FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER AS DEFECTIVE AND A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS. AFTER LESS THAN 2,000 MILES THE SYMPTOMS RETURNED AND THE DEALER AGAIN REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER. SO NOW I'M ON MY 3RD DEFECTIVE TC. AFTER 1,700 MILES, SYMPTOMS RETURNED AGAIN! DEALER SAID THAT CHEVROLET AND GM HAVE ORDERED A STOP ON REPLACING THE TC'S SINCE NO FIX WAS AVAILABLE. GM ADVISED TO DRAIN AND FLUSH TRANNY, REFILLING WITH MOBIL1 TRANSMISSION FLUID. THIS SEEMED TO WORK (ONLY FOR A LITTLE LONGER) BUT IS WORRISOME BECAUSE IN THE FUTURE SERVICE, A TECHNICIAN WILL LIKELY REFILL WITH GM FLUID, NOT MOBIL1. ESPECIALLY IF A SECOND OWNER. NOW AT 16,100 MILES THE SYMPTOMS ARE RETURNING! JERKINESS, SLAMMING INTO GEAR AFTER A DELAY ON COLD STARTS. GM SEEMS TO HAVE TURNED THEIR BACK ON STINGRAY OWNERS BY KICKING THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD BEYOND WARRANTEE (WITH THE MOBIL1 "BAND-AID FIX"). ON THE FORUMS THERE ARE SO MANY OWNER COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. I AM AMAZED THAT THERE IS NO OFFICIAL INVESTIGATION RESULTING IN A RECALL. THIS Z51 LT3 STINGRAY WAS $75,000 OTD! FOR THIS COST WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXPECT A QUALITY VEHICLE AND A MOTOR COMPANY THAT STANDS BEHIND IT! CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP US WITH THIS SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY DANGERIOUS PROBLEM?

Air BagsOct 2017 · 17V437000Details +

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

Risk: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Parking Brake · 14V568000Details +

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles manufactured August 20, 2014, to September 4, 2014. In the affected vehicles, only one of the rear parking brake cables may be fully seated and engaged, resulting in the parking brake only operating on one of the rear park brake drums. Without the parking brake working on both rear wheels, the vehicle may roll away if parked on a steep gradient. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk: If the parking brake cable isn't fully seated and engaged on both of the rear park brake drums, the vehicle may roll away if parked on a steep gradient, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and correct the park brake cable installation, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on October 31, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 14620.
