“While driving on a straight roadway the right rear wheel hub broke off of the rear axle. This caused the truck to turn to the left out of control. The truck crossed over the center line while the entire wheel/tire separated from the wheel well of the truck. The wheel/tire traveled another 50 yards off the roadway into a field. The truck struck a hill on the other side of the road deploying the side airbags due to impact with a road sign. The wheel hub/axle was inspected by a mechanic and the insurance company. The wheel hub was determined to be a defective part by the mechanic and insurance company. The wheel hub had noticeable rust where the axle was connected to the wheel hub. The truck was totaled and removed by the insurance company.”

“On [XXX] with an empty vehicle besides I myself the driver, going south bound on [XXX] just north of twin falls Idaho I had cruise control set to 81 MPH when I felt a slow to the vehicle then noticed an uncontrolled/unprompted shift and loss of power indicated on the dash cluster jumping from 10-9-7-10-5-3-8-9 gears then transmission temperature went from 176 degrees to 205 degrees for the remainder of the trip. I proceeded to pull over and let the transmission rest for 45 mins then proceeded with my trip after not seeing any exterior damage or leaks. And it did not shift higher than 9th gear while cruise control was engaged even at lower speeds. The transmission then began to experience harder shifting, and gained a shutter like a clutch pack not engaging properly form 1-3rd gear, and sporadic shifting under light normal driving conditions at random intervals and remains to now have a normal operating temp of 204 degrees under normal driving conditions. Took it to be diagnosed at a ford dealer and it was the CDF drum that lead to a a cascade of issues leading to the transmission needing replacement. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)”

“Transmission failure. Transmission problems began with the having a significant delay in shifting when cold. This resulted in a safety concern when pulling out into traffic and the vehicle would stop moving. As the problem worsened shift points got harder and the truck computer would show that it was shifting from a high gear to first gear at highway speeds. A reputable transmission shop inspected the vehicle and removed the transmission. They confirmed that a sleeve or bushing in the CDF drum had moved and disrupted oil flow to the clutch packs.”

“The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle started to jerk and stalled while in fifth gear and depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, weeks after the repair, the clutch was replaced. The contact was informed that a sensor in the transmission was replaced; however, a week later the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that the catalytic convertor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 137,000.”

“The transmission can behave erratically: Harsh shifting, jerking or lunging, occasional temporary loss of power, gear slipping, difficulty shifting gears, and unexpected movement while driving. I have already had the vehicle inspected and the transmission serviced, but the behavior continues at random times and is difficult to recreate on demand. This poses a potential safety threat to people in this vehicle and those nearby.”

“The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the transmission failed to operate as intended, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact coasted to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The vehicle received an undisclosed repair; however, when shifting to reverse and then into drive, the vehicle failed to respond while attempting to accelerate. The contact turned and restarted the vehicle and moved the gear shifter out of drive and then back into drive; however, the vehicle failed to respond, with the RPM elevated, with an undisclosed warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Metter Ford (125 Creek 28, Metter, GA 30439); to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the transmission case connector had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.”

“While driving in Texas the transmission of my vehicle started to act up. While going up a hill the transmission came out of gear and would not go which almost caused an accident. The transmission is the Ford 10R80 which has had several safety issues. A recall needs to be issued by Ford to fix the issue at Ford's expense. This will cause a serious accident.”

“Transmission flutters a little before changing from 1st to 2nd gear. In 4th and 5th gear the transmission pauses a few seconds before going into the next gear. From 8th gear to the ninth gear, the transmission jerks really hard. The transmission only has 72000 miles on it. And also the dash board material is coming up.The lane assist jerks really hard sometimes, forcing you in another lane. No warnings or faults during each incidents.”
