“Traveling far from home, car suddenly made a rattling noise and engine shut down. Pulled over for a tow. After 2 weeks in a shop, it was determined the fuel pump was defective causing the camshaft to break. Our VIN is not under the recall but the damage was massive. GM refused to admit to pump failure / camshaft defect. Took parts to be inspected also to the dealership and they confirmed. There were no warnings. We were on a major highway traveling at 70 mph when this happened, yes this was a dangerous situation to be in. GM refused to listen to my case that I filed as I stated we have the "right to repair" and took it to the nearest shop. They closed my case with no opportunity to move forward in the customer service world. We had to pay 4900.00 for repair, 214.00 to tow, 1700.00 for a rental car and all they offered were 1000 GM point that converted to 10.00.”

The records describe a problem worth checking before purchase.

“The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power upon depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact coasted the vehicle into a parking lot as the instrument panel displayed the message: "Shift the transmission into Neutral (N), then turn the key or press the engine Start/Stop button to restart the engine." After several unsuccessful attempts to restart the vehicle, the vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump had failed and needed replacement. The contact researched the failure and discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V013000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a safety complaint. The vehicle remained unrepaired in the dealer's possession. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.”

“General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles. The four rear-seat lower child seat LATCH anchorage bars may have excessive powder coating, which could prevent a child seat from being installed with the anchorage bars. “Vehicle Wide Programming (VWP) is a new process to update software on GM Vehicles. It provides the ability via a single selection within Techline Connect to first identify which modules need updating and then proceed to updating affected modules (with some exceptions). The updating of modules is completed in parallel instead of the technician needing to update one module at a time. This allows a more streamlined approach for dealers and customers.”
