2024 Nissan Titan

The vehicles front Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system, part of the Safety Shield 360 suite, has activated several times without any obstacle, vehicle, pedestrian or hazard present in the roadway. This is commonly known as phantom braking. The system triggers unexpected braking during normal driving conditions, which creates a risk of read end collision from following traffic and loss of vehicle control response time. In my specific case the issue happens during bright sunshine when the sun casts a shadow from the overpass at [XXX] and highway [XXX] in the [XXX] area. This has happened several times to me at that location and the vehicle locks the brakes and traffic behind me must quickly brake to avoid hitting my vehicle. I temporarily remedy the problem by disabling the front emergency brake using the vehicle menu before my commute but that menu resets when the vehicle is turned off and i have on occasion forgot to disable the front emergency braking. This malfunction will also occur at higher speeds but the vehicle does not have time to react and all that I get is a bright flashing warning light on the dash indicators as I drive under overpasses at higher speeds. At lower speeds this is very dangerous. I have reported this problem to my local Nissan Dealer, Bommarito Nissan on [XXX] in [XXX] but as of now they do not have a solution. Regarding the 2024 Titan roof, the rain cutters seem to have seam bonding and no weather stripping. The seam sealant only goes 3/4 of the way along rain cutters on the roof. This is leaving a pocket where water collects and starts to rust. Nissan should repair this under it corrosion warranty . It’s also causing an issue with the windshield where the seam sealant or bonding material is coming apart and leaking into the windshield where rust could form. This is a know issue per some service techs.

The engine just shut off. I was in traffic moving up to a light and the vehicle just shut down. The second time when I was exiting the freeway got to the yield sign and the vehicle just shut down. The third time was turning left and the vehicle just shut down. the fourth time I was in traffic that was coming to a stop and the vehicle shut down. 5th time I was turning slow rate and the vehicle shut off. 6th and 7th time were in stop and go traffic as it was decelerating. The 8th time coming up to a stop sign and the vehicle shut off. I took the vehicle to Nissan 2 different locations and since there are no codes they can't duplicate the error. My fear is what happens if this shuts down at speed. There was no warning, no rough idle or anything significant. The vehicle has been looked at two different Nissan Dealership without being able to confirm or reproduce the problem. The worst factor is the fear my wife has about the vehicle just shutting off.

The automatic transmission in my 2024 Nissan Titan PRO-4X intermittently malfunctions when slowing to a stop. As the vehicle decelerates to about 1–2 mph, there is a distinct “bump” or “lurch” as if the truck has been lightly rear-ended. The sensation occurs most often at traffic lights or rolling stops. •Component/system failed: Power Train – Automatic Transmission (9-speed). Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. •Safety risk: The unexpected jolt can cause distraction and abrupt braking. It raises concerns about long-term durability and could increase the risk of a rear-end collision in traffic. •Reproduced/confirmed: Yes. I reported this under warranty to a Nissan dealer. The dealer replaced a transmission bracket, but the issue persists. The downshift/lurch can still be reproduced. •Inspected by others: The dealer service department has inspected it. Manufacturer has not provided a lasting fix. •Warning lamps/messages: No warning lights or diagnostic messages appear before, during, or after the issue. •First appearance: Issue began when I purchased the vehicle (at approx 4700 miles) and continues intermittently (currently 19000 Miles). •Similar complaints: Other 2024 Nissan Titan owners have reported the same problem publicly, describing the downshift bump/lurch at low speed. Earlier Titan model years (2020–2023) had recalls and TSBs for TCM/ECM software updates (e.g., Campaigns R22B1, R22A9; TSBs NTB21-028A, NTB22-085) addressing low-speed hesitation and harsh downshifts. My request: I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether the 2024 Titan shares the same transmission calibration defect as prior years and determine if Nissan must provide updated software or other corrective measures to fix this unsafe low-speed downshift behavior. The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the transmission was slipping, and the vehicle jolted and jerked while shifting between 4th and 5th gears. The contact stated that while attempting to stop the vehicle, there was an abnormal clunking sound coming from the transmission, with the vehicle jolting. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the TCM needed to be reprogrammed. The contact also stated that water was leaking through the sunroof. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000.

Transmission. When coming to a stop the truck lurches forward from a hard downshift that can potentially cause a rear end collision. I have taken to two Nissan dealerships (Marietta, Ga and Roswell, Ga) and both claimed they could not replicate this issue. I am not sure when the problem started as the salesman drove it from Carrollton, Ga to Marietta for me to purchase. The first time it happened to me was at 150 miles. The truck is currently at 4,500 miles and continues to shift incorrectly. There are no warning lights and the dealership refuses to spend any time solving the problem. I took the service manager for a drive and he confirmed that there is an issue and said he would open a service ticket. Three weeks later he said the mechanic cannot duplicate the problem and says the truck drives normally.

vehicle has 2900 miles, it has a noticeable hum/whining sound coming from rear end area. sound is very pronounced at 46-50 mph under throttle. Issue has been addressed with a local dealership. They found metal shavings in the rear end assembly. Their assessment is such that the rear differential has prematurely failed. They recomend replacing the rear differential carrier at 2900 mi, mind you. I want to put on record that the rear camera system is not able to be adjusted to a point where you can visually see after dark. To further the issue, The reverse lamps are not adequately bright enough to safely back up using the mirrors at night. I do understand this is the last model year for this vehicle however there is surely an issue that can be resolved by Nissan. After having the issue myself I had looked online and find a disturbing amount of complaints related to the issue.

The vehicle lurches forward during stopping for a traffic light, stop sign, etc. Feels like a possible transmission issue, like a hard downshift, but the lurch is a safety issue. Has been happeneing since the truck was purchased, and the dealer service has been unable to resolve. Service manager drove in the truck and confirmed the jolt forward. Forums indicate this issue is occurring with other 2024 Titan trucks. The lurch forward can interfere with stopping distance since the lurch is stronger than the braking efficiency during that sudden jolt. This issue has been ongoing since November 2023 with no resolution.

Truck (intermittently) downshifts hard and (intermittently) lurches forward when coming to a complete stop. The issue is worse when stopping at a slower rate of speed than when from stopping abruptly (maybe because this is an issue shifting from 2nd into 1st at a slow speed rather than shifting from 3rd to 1st during a more aggressive quicker stop). Feels like the transmission is fluttering between park and 1st gear and (intermittently) at very slow stopping speeds and will give a sensation similar to that of being hit from behind. (Not saying this is happening, but rather what it feels like when this is happening). Seems like a gear alignment problem or a solenoid/shift module acting erratic. It does cause some concerning safety issues because it can unexpectedly "lurch" forward when coming to a stop and you may assume your fully stopped when a burst jolting you forward happens out of nowhere. This erratic behavior also makes me concerned about premature transmission wear and premature rear end gear wear due to the abrupt "clashing" and jolting of its gears. First reported this issue to a Nissan dealership at 500 miles and was told it was normal breaking in process and to put more miles in it. It continuous to be an issue to this day now with 4100 miles on it. I feel like the issue is causing premature transmission/rear end wear in addition to a potential safety issue. This issue happens only at very slow speeds however.

2024 Nissan Titan PRO-4X with less than 1,000 miles. When braking to make a complete stop the 9 speed transmission surges and the truck uncontrollably lurches forward almost causing rear end crash into another vehicle. Nissan dealer where purchased said its a software problem and Nissan is working on a fix soon. Online owner forums indicate this is a known issue and Nissan has been promising a fixed since 2021!!!

When coming to a stop(rolling stop) the truck will jerk ROUGH. Which causes the truck to lunge forward. Multiple times have I almost hit the car in front of me causing an accident. Took vehicle to Nissan 2 times. First time I was informed. “ It’s the characteristics of the truck” which blew my mind. Second time I took it the mechanic was able to replicate the issue. It’s now been 2 weeks since the second visit and nothing has been done. A brand new truck. And already with problems with 4,800 miles ONLY!!

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2021 and 2024 Titan vehicles. The Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) may be missing a spacer, which can allow the fastener to loosen and result in an unsecured ACU.

Risk: An unsecured ACU can prevent or delay air bags from deploying as intended, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the ACU, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 19, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PD120.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024 Titan, Frontier, Infiniti QX60, Pathfinder, 2023-2024 Sentra, Versa, Kicks, Infiniti QX50, and 2023 Rogue vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the driver's air bag inflator may absorb moisture, and cause the air bag to deploy improperly.

Risk: An air bag that deploys improperly may not protect the driver as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the front driver's air bag assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 10, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's numbers for this recall are PD103, PD104, and PMA34.
