While driving in the highway vehicle lost power and gray smoke came out off the exhaust, it was hard to accelerate and TCS warning light and check engine light popped up. TCS warning light extinguished but check engine light still on. Cars behind me could have hit me from behind, because it was a sudden loss of speed, it made other drivers switch lanes creating the risk of crashing others or myself. I have taken the car to a mechanics and some say it’s the turbo and others say they don’t know what it can be and can’t really help me.

I am unable to control my vehicle. Something in front end of vehicle pushes and pulls the vehicle from left to right without being able to regain control. Loud popping and clunking while turning..Braking has also been a majoir issue along with suspension/steering issues. I would greatly appreciate these things to be fixed immediately beings there has been a recall years ago and I was never notified!

I have had multiple engine problems with my trax. For starters, shortly after I bought it in 2021 I had to have the radiator replaced, then in Aug or Sept 2022 I had to have the coil pack replaced, the in Oct 2022 the turbo needed to be replaced. Exactly 1 year after replacing the turbo, I had to replace it again in Oct 2023. Now I'm being told that these cars are having problems with Piston rings going out. After repleacing the turbo once again, my car was still acting up. I took it back to the mechanic and they told me my piston rings are shot. Due to this issue, I now need a new motor. I've been told by 3 different Automotive shops that they have replaced several engine in the past 5 months due to the Piston rings and turbo going out in them. My car is a sitting duck. I'm highly mad. To add full to the fire, some of my features are not working due to an electrical issue.

My 2015 blue Chevy Trax is under 38k miles and the paint is peeling off the tailgate under the window. After finding out that many of my same car, same color are having the exact same issue in the same spot. I can provide pictures of when the peeling started happening and in a short amount of time how much has come off. My safety has not been put at risk. It has been taken to an authorized Chevy dealership and was told that there was nothing they could do, I showed all the other cars of my same model and color having the same issue and they said because there was no recall there was nothing they could do. This seems to be a factory defect with the car, but it is being ignored by Chevy because it is out of warrently timeline.

I have recently heard what could best be described as a squealing sound. I could also smell fuel inside the vehicle while driving. I thought it was oil that had leaked onto the serpentine belt and had it replaced but the noise continued. Listening closer I realized it was coming from the area around the intake manifold. Searching online I found several YouTube videos and comments from people mentioning loose spark plugs caused their issue. Checking mine I found that two of the four spark plugs were loose enough to not require a wrench to remove them. Tightening them eliminated the noise. I have owned this vehicle since it was brand new and have never asked a mechanic to check or replace spark plugs, nor have I done it myself. I did recently replace the intake manifold, which required removing and reinstalling the ignition coil. I feel like loose spark plugs represent a fire hazard as it allow the fuel to blow past the cylinders and into the engine compartment.

THIS IS REGARDING A JOINT IN ONE OR BOTH FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS THAT CAN SEPARATE YOUR TIRES FROM THE VEHICLE. PRETTY SCARY, BUT I AM GETTING NOWHERE WITH THE CHEVROLET PEOPLE. I CALL EVERY DAY. HOW CAN YOU HELP ME ?

ONE DAY WHEN I STARTED UP MY CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT GAVE ME NO FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE ISSUE. I DON'T SEE WHY THE WHOLE PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ESPECIALLY SINCE NOTHING HAS PROMPTED THIS ISSUE. I OPTED OUT OF THE REPLACEMENT THAT WOULD HAVE COSTED ME $1000 AND CHANGE SINCE THE CAR WORKS JUST FINE, BUT NOW I DRIVE IN FEAR THAT IT WILL DIE ON ME FOR AN ISSUE THE DEALER HAD NO DETAILS ON. I HOPE THIS WILL OPEN AN INVESTIGATION ON THE VEHICLE TO TRY AND FOUND OUT WHY EXACTLY MY CAR IS EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE WHEN IT HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF SINCE I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT.

NO BRAKES WHEN DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. PEDAL PRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. PUMPING BRAKES MADE NO DIFFERENCE. THANKFULLY WAS ON A LESS TRAVELED COUNTRY ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO LIMP THE VEHICLE HOME USING PARKING BRAKE. BRAKE FLUID LEVEL CHECKED FINE AND THERE WAS NO BRAKE FLUID LEAKING AROUND ANY WHEEL OR UNDER CAR SO IT WAS NOT A BROKEN BRAKE LINE OR SEAL. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP DETERMINED "BRAKE VACUUM SWITCH" WAS BAD AND REPLACED. CLAIMED THIS WAS NOT A *WARRANTY* COVERED PART AND WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.

STARTED 2015 CHEVY TRAX IN DRIVEWAY AND IT STARTED IDLING VERY ROUGH. CAR WAS WORKING FINE THE PREVIOUS DAY AND HAD NOT BEEN STARTED / DRIVEN SINCE. LEFT FOR WORK AND CAR WAS JERKING, LOOSING POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. TURNED AROUND AND RETURNED TO HOUSE SO DAD COULD LOOK AT IT AND SISTER DROVE ME TO WORK IN HER CAR. DAD'S COMMENTS: DROVE CAR TO ADVANCED AUTO PARTS, APPROX. 2 MILES, WHERE THEY CHECKED THE BATTERY, STARTER AND ALTERNATOR. BATTERY / STARTER CHECKED OK, ALTERNATOR CHECKED OUT AS BAD. *ATTEMPTED* TO DRIVE BACK HOME AND EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEMS AS DAUGHTER. CAR WAS IDLING ROUGH, WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OFF THE ROAD, SHUT OFF CAR, WAITED A FEW MOMENTS AND RESTARTED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED SOLIDLY ON. TURNED ONTO MAIN HIGHWAY AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. CAR STARTED SHAKING AND SMELL OF BURNING OIL WAS PRESENT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS "FLASHING" SINCE I WAS 1/4 MILE OR LESS FROM THE HOUSE, I WAS ABLE TO LIMP THE CAR HOME AND CALLED DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND IS CURRENTLY SITTING AT MCCLUSKY CHEVROLET IN KINGS AUTO MALL, WHICH IS WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED USED IN JAN 2019. ONSTAR SENT 4 MESSAGES: ONE WAS SERVICE INTERLOCK BRAKING SYSTEM, TWO WERE REGARDING THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM AND ONE WAS FOR THE EXHAUST EMISSIONS SYSTEM. NOTE: THIS IS THE 5TH TIME THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN IN FOR MAJOR REPAIRS SINCE JANUARY 2019 (WHEN PURCHASED) AND THE 2ND TIME IN 2 MONTHS IT HAD TO BE TOWED IN. LAST TIME WAS JUL 29, 2019 FOR FAILING BRAKES. OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THESE EXACT SAME ISSUES HERE ON THE NHTSA.GOV SITE SO THERE ARE OBVIOUSLY ISSUES WITH THE 2015 CHEVY TRAX THAT GM IS NOT ADDRESSING.

VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO TURN. VEHICLE BEHAVED AS IF IT WAS IN PARKED GEAR, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN DRIVE GEAR AND IN MOTION. WHILE TRYING TO STOP, I WAS UNABLE TO STEER, BUT WAS ABLE TO RUN OFF THE ROAD INTO A PARKING LOT. ONCE STOPPED, MOVING GEAR SHIFTER DID NOT SEEM TO SWITCH GEARS. I TRIED PUTTING THE GEAR SHIFTER IN PARK, OR REVERSE AND NOTHING HAPPENED. VEHICLE WOULD NOT LET ME TURN THE WHEELS AND WOULD NOT GO FORWARD OR REVERSE. ERROR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WERE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR, STABILITRACK, PARK, AND POWER STEERING LIGHT. CHEVROLET INFORMED OF ISSUE. CHEVROLET REFUSED TO FIX VEHICLE. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 40,510 MILES. CHEVROLET REFUSES TO ADMIT IT HAS A PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSIONS OR POWER STEERING IN THESE VEHICLES. I AM LUCKY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT INTO A PARKING LOT AND NOT RUN INTO ANYONE OR ANYTHING. *AS THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WHICH WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW PART. *TR

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Chevrolet Trax vehicles. A joint in one or both of the front lower control arms may have been improperly welded. An improperly welded joint may break, resulting in the partial separation of the lower control arm from the vehicle.

Risk: A partial separation of the lower-control arm from the vehicle could cause the attached front wheel to toe outward, impacting the vehicle's handling and steering and increasing the risk of crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the left and right front lower-control arms, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 6, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is A192261870.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

Risk: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782.
