“ON 11/21/2020 AT 5:30 PM, WE HAD A CAR CRASH ON A HIGHWAY I-495 (CAPITAL BELTWAY, MD), WE WERE IN OUR CAR (I, MY WIFE, 2 KIDS), WE NOTICED A SUDDEN STOP BY MANY CARS AHEAD OF US IN THE SAME LANE WE WERE IN (LEFT LANE), I PRESSED MY BRAKE AND BEEN ABLE TO AVOID REACHING THE CAR AHEAD OF ME BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS VERY FAST WITH NO CONTROL IN THEIR BRAKE THUS, SHE HIT MY CAR FROM THE REAR AND PUSHED ME TO HIT THE FRONT CAR. AFTER WE STOPPED, I WENT OUT TO NOTICE THAT 9 CARS WERE INVOLVED IN THE CRASH. ALTHOUGH IT WAS A BIG AND HARD ACCIDENT, MY CAR'S AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY, HOWEVER, IT DID OPEN IN MOST OF THE OTHER CARS. DUE TO THE NONDEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG, WE HAD A LOT OF BODY PAINS, WHIPLASHES, AND MY SON WAS HIT IN HIS HEAD (I HAVE AN EMERGENCY INITIAL DIAGNOSTIC REPORT FROM THE HOSPITAL). IN ADDITION, MY CAR EXPERIENCED HUGE DAMAGES FROM BACK AND FRONT, AND EVENTUALLY, IT HAD BEEN TOTALLY UNFIXABLE ACCORDING TO THE INSPECTION FROM THE COLLISION TECHNICIAN. I HAD CONTACTED THE CAR MANUFACTURER (NISSAN) TO OPEN A CASE, BUT THEY DIDN'T CONSIDER THE RISK THAT WE EXPOSED BY NOT DEPLOYING THE AIRBAGS AND THEY IGNORE THAT THEY ARE HAVING ANY PROBLEMS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND THEY JUSTIFIED THIS INCIDENT BY SAYING THAT AS LONG AS THE CAR BEEN HIT BY THE REAR THE AIRBAG WILL NOT BE DEPLOYED REGARDLESS OF THE HIT STRENGTH.”

“My wife and I were driving down the street 2017 Nissan rogue. Number two driver illegally backed across double solid yellow line to go into his driveway. I hit the brakes the car started to skid at 30 miles an hour with antilock brake system should’ve kicked in upon the crash. The airbags did not deploy and airbags. Come out anywhere from 8 miles an hour on I was a mechanic for a long time my wife banged up her shoulder and her back and I’m disabled as it is and I hurt my legs really bad, banging against the dashboard, the driver from the other car insurance paid us some money but it was even close to what it be for the repairs and I do not let them know about the airbags or the antilock brake system. This was very bad if we were at high speed we would have been killed. I did not document this anywhere. I did not put it on social media. I’m keeping it to myself for now , I have films in pictures of how the action occurred and the gentleman is still backing into the driveway. State farm blame me 15%. I think Nissan should replace this car. It is dangerous. This car is dangerous and it has a recall for the water leak through the electrical that I smelt burning a couple times when it rains. “While my wife was driving down the road she turned on the radio at which time the radio volume went instantly to maximum full volume at it's lowest setting which was enhanced by a stock bose amplifier. My wife stated that she was extremely startled which could have caused an accident, she further suffered hearing loss as a result. This is extremely dangerous for all drivers of such a malfuntion as some by such shock could cause fatalities and or serious injury. The manufacturer at Grand Strand Nissan on route 501 in Conway SC, stated it was the Bose amp malfuntion which I swaped out with another Bose amp and the problem still exist. This is very serious.”

“2017 Nissan Rouge should be recalled due to Faulty Transmission (Transmission Malfunction). 2017 Nissan Rouge is dangerous and places the life of driver, passengers and others at risk. Vehicle is available for inspection. On 07/20/2023 at approximately 10pm I arrived home with my Senior Mother and 5-year-old son who were seated in the back seat of my 2017 Nissan Rouge. I placed the car in park in my driveway, my 2017 Nissan Rouge remained in park for approximately 2 minutes while I removed an item from my driveway. When I returned to my vehicle that was in park for approximately 2 minutes with my Senior Mother and 5-year-old son in the backseat, I proceeded to turn the key that was in the ignition and pulled it out of the ignition. When I pulled the key out of the ignition the car proceeded to roll back while I was standing in the driver's door. My Mother and child began to scream that the car was moving and I was stuck between the driver's car door and the vehicle, so I reached for the emergency breaks as I was thrown to the ground, dragged and injured. Car rolled away and crashed into my neighbor's vehicle with my mother and child inside Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center: Problem was confirmed by a class action lawsuit (Case No. 3:21-cv-00099). Other Nissan Rouge car owners experienced their Nissan Rouge rolling away after placing vehicle in park due to transmission failure. Nissan did not recall the vehicles and awarded an additional 24,000 miles on the transmission past the original 60,000 miles. However, they have still not provided car owners notice of this specific issue. I never received notice that my 2017 Nissan transmission could unexpectedly fail causing my 2017 Nissan vehicle to roll away while in park with the engine off. A police report was filed with the Joliet Illinois Police Department. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.”

“False Automatic Emergency Braking NHTSA received a letter from the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) on March 21, 2019 alleging that the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system on Model Year (MY) 2017-2018 Nissan Rogue and Rogue Sport vehicles was engaging in cases where there was no obstruction in the path of the vehicle. The CAS petition additionally alleged that, based on Nissan's actions, the manufacturer was aware of the issue due to issuing a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) launching two Quality Actions, and initiation of a Customer Service Initiative in relation to it. CAS contended that Nissan's actions do not represent an adequate long-term solution to the problem, as the action is only available during the basic coverage period of the warranty. CAS also argued that the alleged failures are an unreasonable risk to safety and views Nissan's communications as not acknowledging the potential safety issue involved, instead treating the alleged problem as a performance update. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) analyzed Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) complaints received from consumers and identified a total of 129 unique subject vehicle reports (for all submission dates) alleging a false positive triggering of AEB. Of these complaints, three were identified that contained allegations of a collision resulting from the activation of the system, and all three indicating related injuries. In response to ODI's April 15, 2019 Information Request letter, Nissan provided data indicating that it has received 750 unique subject vehicle complaints relating to false positive activation of the AEB system. Of these complaints, 12 were identified that contained allegations of a collision resulting from the activation of the system. Four complaints contained allegations of injuries, three of which were the result of a collision. These complaints included duplicates of complaints that ODI received. The injury allegations were limited to soft tissue type injuries such as whiplash and bruising.Based on its review of the information identified to date, ODI grants this petition and has opened preliminary evaluation PE19-010 in order to evaluate the cause, scope and frequency of AEB false positive activations, as well as to evaluate the suitability of the manufacturer's campaign to address the concern or improve performance of the AEB system. The complaints cited can be viewed at NHTSA.gov under the following ODI identification numbers: 11230875, 11230481, 11230361, 11229400, 11229302, 11229294, 11228994, 11223074, 11222925, 11222644, 11220499, 11218713, 11218608, 11217157, 11210334, 11210256, 11210148, 11209127, 11209032, 11207333, 11205931, 11205717, 11205661, 11205172, 11205124, 11205027, 11204803, 11204349, 11204324, 11196805, 11196561, 11196466, 11196091, 11195938, 11195574, 11194380, 11193989, 11192761, 11192283, 11192063, 11190855, 11190840, 11189976, 11187374, 11186903, 11185890, 11185883, 11185132, 11183406, 11180813, 11174713, 11173666, 11173302, 11172299, 11171331, 11170989, 11165434, 11164646, 11162898, 11162502, 11162396, 11161413, 11161230, 11155985, 11155209, 11155181, 11154181, 11153607, 11153334, 11151373, 11151028, 11142595, 11142557, 11142386, 11141775, 11141433, 11141387, 11141347, 11140604, 11139711, 11139226, 11133402, 11132376, 11130998, 11130662, 11129949, 11128704, 11124099, 11123564, 11123353, 11123321, 11122783, 11119475, 11119300, 11118604, 11115088, 11113479, 11113371, 11112371, 11111659, 11111057, 11110919, 11110689, 11104075, 11103844, 11103437, 11102715, 11102333, 11100117, 11099313, 11091006, 11089960, 11089798, 11089533, 11088815, 11088718, 11081072, 11079453, 11073644, 11072718, 11065505, 11061598, 11057739, 11056061, 11055766, 1104”

“CVT Warranty Extension In an effort to assure customer satisfaction, demonstrate our confidence in continuously variable transmissions (CVTs), and to address customer concerns including those expressed by customers in the class actions, Nissan will extend the warranty coverage on the CVT. The warranty extension includes the CVT assembly and internal CVT components, gaskets, and seals, CVT control valve body, torque converter, cooler kit (if applicable) and reprogramming of the Transmission Control Module (TCM), on the vehicles listed in this announcement. The warranty is being extended from its original duration of 60 months/60,000 miles to 84 months/84,000 miles (whichever occurs first). Coverage of other vehicle components remains unchanged, and all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of Nissan’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty continue to apply. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. If an owner contacts a dealer with a CVT concern in an owned or leased vehicle, verify warranty coverage for the specific VIN and then inform the customer of any diagnostic charges. NOTE: Some owners may have opted out of the warranty extension by excluding themselves from the class action settlement, thus it is important to check the VIN for each vehicle to verify coverage. 2. Use the appropriate Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) and/or Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to diagnose the root cause of the customer concern and identify the correct repair to resolve the customer concerns. NOTE: Dealers will need to follow the warranty process and obtain pre-approval from the Powertrain Call Center (800-973-9992, option 2) for any vehicles requiring CVT replacements when the replacement cost exceeds a Dealer’s Claims Administration/Authorization Limits (DCAL). Control valves and CVT belt and pulley kits do not require pre-authorization for repairs made under warranty.”
